I hate the Patriots and their fans like poison, but let's not jump to any conclusions just yet. Publicly calling someone a cheater is a serious allegation and I'd wait for all of the facts to come to light before I decided one way or the other about this.

Of course, if they allowed Defensive coaches to call in the play with a microphone like Offensive coaches can, there wouldn't be an issue.

I doubt they will be banned from the playoffs, but the Cheatriots definitely deserve to lose several of their top picks next year.

Maybe there is something I am overlooking, but isn't forfeiting draft picks a stupid punishment? What money they do spend in the draft can just go to free agency.

This is severe cheating. Forfeit the game and ban them from the playoffs.

I doubt they will do that since it could wind up costing the NFL money. If this was college they would definitely have a severe punishment inflicted upon them(i.e. the death penalty).

IMO they need to worry about integrity more than money in this situation.

I dislike anything to do with the pats, but I don't think this should be called cheating. How can taping what the other team is doing in the open be construed as cheating. But I guess if they call it cheating then they shouldn't do it.

Because the NFL wants to put on a facade that teams don't steal signals by implementing a useless rule, give me a break, it's out in the open, anyone can do it, whether by lip readers, cameras, camcorders, or your own eyeballs.

Waa waa... if it were the Steelers that got caught for this you'd be all up in arms about this. :)

it's AGAINST THE RULES. WTF is so hard to understand about this. if it WASN'T to their advantage, WHY WOULD THEY BREAK THE RULES TO DO IT.

to construe it is anything less than cheating is just plain stupid.

Having your jersey untucked is against the rules and can get you fined. I f*cking hate cheaters who untuck their jerseys.

Give me a break. The outrage over this is laughable, you're telling me that something you can see with your own bare eyes is something to get angry about? LOL.

You mean like stealing signs in baseball?

Its against the rules. But its not a uniform rule like Phokus brought up.

Potentially it can give one team the advantage. Whats to stop this guy from giving that video tape to the Patriot coaches at halftime? Nothing... He also had Patriot credentials. But so what right? Lets stretch this a little further. If I know which teams have an advantage in terms of stealing sign it could change my betting process, especially point spreads. The mob would kill for that type of information.

Even then Phokus could go ahead and video tape steals of the opposing team and lets say his best buddy's father was an assistant coach for the other team. Suuure he could potentially give out info like that but then again anyone could with the right connections.

I think no matter what happens Goodell should be consistent in his penalties. He's been harsh so far and he should continue. I say the punishment should be a 2nd or 1st rounder. Why that high a lot of teams build their teams through the draft. Doesn't matter if its the Pats or not the Jets could have been playing the Raiders.

Ok I guess I don't see the big deal. Miami deciphered the Pats audibles, and took advantage of it. They studied tape, the Pats were just gathering more tape. Against the rules, yes, but there are many rules and laws we don't follow as they are lame. This is not classified information, say they just had someone who was phenomenal at remembering things, and he could record them. Would that be against the rules to, doubt it. Seems to just be the medium of gathering information.

The next part would be, did it affect the game? The answer would be no. The Jets were decimated, so even if somehow it was usable they Pats still were the better team. I stress the somehow because as I understand it is very hard to decipher these signals, especially hard on the fly. Your next argument would be that at the half they had the time. The Pats were up by a touchdown already and their defense was showing no signs of weakness. Add in the kickoff return and you now have 21 points, that enough would have beat them.

So in summary, it's a stupid rule and the Jets were going to lose anyways.

This team has been getting more and more dirty by the year. Moss fits perfect on this squad of dirtballs and that prick of a coach.

I'm so glad the Bronco's stopped that 3 peat from happening.

Wow! Really, WOW!

Have you ever played competitve sports at all (if you did you would see how wrong the pats behavior is)? Do you even watch football?

The rules are in place to prevent an advantage. The pats broke the rules, REPEATEDLY, AND WARNED ABOUT ITthey are cheaters, they cheated. How can one see this any other way?
