The next part would be, did it affect the game? The answer would be no. The Jets were decimated, so even if
somehow it was usable they Pats still were the better team. I stress the somehow because as I understand it is very hard to decipher these signals, especially hard on the fly. Your next argument would be that at the half they had the time. The Pats were up by a touchdown already and their defense was showing no signs of weakness. Add in the kickoff return and you now have 21 points, that enough would have beat them.
So in summary, it's a stupid rule and the Jets were going to lose anyways.
