Not alcohol and mafia related but the painting is almost complete. Just one coat left for one of the walls. A couple of areas of mudding that were not as good as I thought but overall it turned out well.

The atmos speakers are in. I probably should have done a wood backer box for them but a dome of pink fluffy and mineral wool insulation will have to do. Subfloor just has one row near the stage left. I'll complete that after I get the stage filled with sand. Goals for this week are to paint the last wall and get the sand that I have into the stage. I'm sure it will fill a depressingly small amount of the stage meaning I have many more trips of 50lb bags in my future

You won't find them as the Brazilian mafia, that's just a name I've given them. The company is DeSilvia hauling.
Yes, on second thought, I figured I wouldn't find them. Thanks for the clarification.

It was just a little derailment, you got us back on track nicely.
Why are you filling the stage with sand? More to the point, why do you have a stage?

Reverb control. Two rows of seat you want to make second row higher.

Good guy wins, bad guy loses., good guy girl eats it cause she's 105 y.o., good guy lives on until the next series....which never happens. Kind of like that Rothfuss wind loser guy shit.

Hey, would you like me to send you the hard copies of the wind series?

Just kidding...unless you do want them...;)

Yep sdifox's got it.

Yeah he says they are free but there is always a catch
Apparently, you're way more serious about home theater than I am, or anyone I know for that matter. I think you should invite me over for a demonstration.
Does the sand filled stage actually help that much?

This is srs bsns. Does it help? I've not tried a before and after but even more serious guys over at avsforums have and their fancy graphs sold me that it was probably worth the money. And its not a lot of money for the sand - mostly just effort getting it to the room.

I wear Etymotics ER4S earbuds when I watch movies. I pick up on conversation a lot better than anything I could do with speakers, etc. Also, I don't disturb my neighbors.

Sub-project "Japanese Zen Garden" is well underway with the first 550lbs of sand in

And Behold! My amazing cable management skills!

Also known as I got tired of tripping over the home network cables strewn about so I got around to putting up the shelving brackets and two makeshift shelves. HUGE props to Ubituti - their AP has now survived two 8' falls onto a concrete floor with no issues. The cabling might not be pretty yet but at least its out of the way now

Probably just haven't tried the right speakers. Mine won't disturb the neighbors either. But when something explodes in a movie you'll feel it in your chest ;)

Looks like perfectly normal cable management to me. Might be a little light on blue tape, but other than that I'd say you're there.

While painting and dry walling I had already cut the plywood to length and put it over the frame to make my life easier. With parts of the plywood now screwed down over sand filled stage I can say there is a huge difference. Before hand steps were loud and echo-y on the stage. Walking on the concrete foundation is loud but less so. Steps on the insulation filled riser are fairly quiet. Steps on the sand filled stage are really quiet. I mean if you stomp down there is noise but its a very flat noise with little reverberation (and I suspect the reverberation that is there is because the room is all hard surfaces right now). The difference between the four situations is pretty noticeable

Interesting information. Thanks for the update.
