Drywall mudding that is. I'm not real fast at it and I know from my last home theater that I did that the light from the screen will reveal all your imperfections so I have been taking even longer.

To see how well I did I painted the front wall (which will be behind the screen) and then asked my wife to come down and point out the seams and screws. She found none of the seams and only a couple of screws despite shining the light all over the place.

I've got a couple of butt joints I still need to feather out and some more screw holes to cover but I'm almost done after so very many hours of this

As long as the wife is happy but.....sheet rock...pay a pro. My blood pressure appreciates it.

I tried but the $1300-1500 quotes for just the mudding were too rich for my blood. My drywall hanging isn't that bad if even I can mud it so the seams don't show

Yeah, the kitchen cost me $1200. Figured I saved some $$ on mud and sandpaper though.

So...super mod...what does that get you exactly?

Sounds just like me (except for the home theater). I really like hanging drywall. But, I'm too much of a perfectionist with not enough experience for mudding to go at anything but a snails pace. A snail on Nyquil that is.

Damp sponge >>>> sandpaper. Quicker and no mess.

All it means is that I and a few others can moderate any of the sub-forums. We are not tied to a specific forum such as Video Cards or For Sale/Trade.

I still used a light grit sanding block for some areas but wiped the area down afterwards with a sponge. I also used a spray bottle to dampen the paper+metal corner beads after dealing with some bubbling issues and that made a huge difference

But yeah its been a really slow process. All the corners around the various ducts, pipes etc hasn't exactly helped.

cheaper to install cortains :p

Cortains? Is that some sort of weird Canadian maple syrup based wall board?

So no escaping the stalkers....

I'm still waiting on what school your kid is going to so I can (hopefully) remind you that you are helping pay for my vacations. I work with a few different ones so I remain hopeful

This brings me back to 2007 when I was finishing my basement. Eleven hundred square feet of newly finished living area complete with HVAC, full bath and the home theater. My friend was a professional drywaller (owned his own company) and the job in the basement makes me want to trash the rest of the house.

Proper blackout curtains don't reflect light and are easy to install xd

Plus they dampen sound reflection, so even better acoustics.

I wish I had a Drywall Guy... :(

Cool. I wanna see what this will look like once it's done!

For sure! Although I suspect I'll get to the point where its 90% done and I get distracted by watching movies and listening to music so the remaining 10% takes another 2 years

Heh - I'd be done sooner though! I'll be happier with these results long term though

Well one positive about mudding is that it is cheap. Maybe $50 on tape, mud and a new 6" and 14" knife? Curtains would probably be a fair bit more. Various acoustic treatments are likely to be added at some point in the future though

PSB Imagine T fronts
PSB Imagine C Center
PSB Imagine 4T rears
Seaton Sound mfw-15 turbo ss 15" 700W sub
(4) RSL C34E atmos speakers
Denon AVR-X4200W receiver
Vivitek HK2288 (faux) 4k projector
Some well reviewed sony blu-ray player

I'll need an amp for 2 of the atmos speakers or the rears if the 4200 doesn't output atmos. I have a spare older receiver that could do that job although it might waste enough energy through heat that I'll get a 2-channel amp instead
