Old dotard Trump could never comprehend the costs his tariffs will impose on the American people.
His campaign slogan was effectively "Make prices higher again" and the American voters largely agreed.
Here comes the pain.
I think it was more of a case of that selective interpretation where when Trump says 10 things, 5 of which someone likes and 5 of which they don't like, that individual would decide Trump didn't mean the ones they didn't like.

I remember seeing this with immigration. A reporter was talking to some Trump supporting farmer where half of his workers are undocumented and the reporter was like 'doesn't this worry you as it would destroy your business?' to which the farmer answered 'well he won't really do it.'

I think a significant portion of America thinks either he won't do it or they won't drive up prices. (although if they won't drive up prices then there's no point as that's the goal of tariffs)

Like the children of an undocumented person who were like, Trump is only going to deport criminals, so they weren't worried about their mom. Somehow, the bad things will fall on those "deserving" of them, and pass over the "good" people.

Meanwhile, Republicans consider all undocumented people criminals.

It's darkly funny how people can look at an entire life spent fucking over people who trusted him and then say to themselves 'yeah but he would never fuck me over, I've got this.'

"I like him because he tells it like it is!" they said, about a tremendously prolific (and not particularly believable) liar.

That's because to them "he tells it like it is" means he says stuff I want to hear and not what's really going on. These people and their descendants are the ones who lost their shit when Jimmy Carter told them to wear a fucking sweater during an energy crisis.

Mike Johnson is talking about putting Trump’s entire legislative agenda in one horrible bill. It may be the only way to get enough Reps to vote for it as the individual pieces are so awful.

I think the main reason is you only get one reconciliation bill per year. I get the sense this is designed to place maximum pressure on House Republicans though, yes, as they can lose almost no votes.

I think it's more than that. I think it's "he says the thing I want to say but am afraid of the consequences"

This is the amazing thing to me. It’s not like Trump’s life work is unknown or mysterious and every single time without fail, it’s always, “well he wouldn’t do that to me”. Do these people just have huge egos themselves and they can’t imagine that someone would screw them over?

I’m guessing it’ll be called the, “make America great again, low prices and cheap gas act”, which will be the exact opposite of what the bill actually does?

More insanity by the nit wit:

Someone should tell Trump that windmills control hurricanes by grinding the big wind into lots of little winds.

He’s still mad about the offshore windmills near his golf resort in Scotland. They kept blowing his balls off course.

House Republicans: Congressing is HARD! Why don’t we just let Trump decide what the budget is?

If Congress is no longer responsible for the federal budget, why do you need Congress? I mean, this isn’t going to go anywhere since they don’t have a solid majority OR 60 votes in the Senate, but it’s just another sign of how Congress is going to accomplish absolutely nothing for as long as these chucklefucks are in “charge”. Not to mention, isn’t Congressional control of the budget in Article I of the Constitution? Wouldn’t their plan require an Amendment? Assuming of course they don’t go through the “Because we said so!” method…

Hey ... There’s nothing stopping the Republicans from asking Trump how to vote, then voting that way.

Lol! ... Trump blasts Biden for making his Transition as "difficult as possible" exactly for years after causing a riot at Bidens transition.

Lawfare such as has never been seen before. Huh, wut?

Fuuck! 4 more years of whining. Whine when he loses. Whine when he wins

Trump has never had a problem embracing two entirely conflicting narratives...Donnie is now wanted for murdering Irony

Remember the good old days when Republicans complained about "ramming" legislation through congress?

Trump has filed a brief asking the Supreme Court to postpone the proposed ban of Tiktok. Which is happening because of Trump. On the grounds that Trump is the greatest, smartest, dealmakingest President ever and he and he alone can make a great deal that will make everybody happy and rich.

Holy shit! I thought this was satire at first..

"Furthermore, President Trump alone possesses the consummate dealmaking expertise"

"President Trump's first Term was highlighted by a series of policy triumphs achieved through historic deals"

lol!

Weren't republicans against big omnibus bills like a week ago?

They were also against CRs but never managed to pass their appropriations bills for two years.

Sorta like abortions. They are against them till their mistress needs one.

Lol!

The leaders of the Republican party want people to vote for Republican candidates. If being poor causes people to vote for Republican candidates, then the leaders of the Republican party will want to make more people poor.

This is the general Republican policy; create a problem and then say the existence of the problem is a reason to vote Republican.

Trump is an example of this. His tariffs will lead to higher prices on consumer goods and people then voted for him because the prices on consumer goods are going to be higher.

Look at the big picture for the Republican party.

If being poor is the reason you’re voting Republican, then the Republican party wants you to stay poor.

Republicans want 2-3 crank judges out of the Texas northern district to set all immigration policy, as the founders intended.
