The players at the regular table in Blackwater will routinely bet the pot up over 2000, so it's not too hard to get the achievement there. That's where I got it. I was so close to getting it in Chuparosa, I won 1996 in a single hand and knocked three guys out of the game. That was pretty sweet. :)

I have a hard time finding a table with enough people and a high enough buy end. But I just got into Mexico though.

For anybody else who has finished the single player, do you wish that games like these had more cause and effect? I'm talking about interactions between you and and NPC would change the outcome of interaction with other NPCs? Obviously there are some things that have to happen in order for the narrative to progress as intended, but when

I went back to find Edgar Ross I first killed his wife. Then I killed his brother. It would have been extremely satisfying to tell Ross that I had done that, and watch him turn into a blubbering fool before I put a bullet between his eyes. Maybe I'm just a sociopath. :p

The table in Chuparosa has a $50 buy in, 500 chips per player. There are frequently four people there. Once you get to Blackwater it's a $100 buy in, 1000 chips per player and there are usually four there too. Use the cheat to get yourself a nice A high straight or full house to beat some over confident NPC and his two pair, and you can clean up in Blackwater. :)

One thing that keeps bothering me is how the camera blurs when you turn a certain amount. It just goes from clear to blurry then jumps immediately back when I finish turning. You would think they could have made it at least a little smoother.

Spoilers on game ending:
I'm not sure I like how they ended the game either. They didn't really give any reason for the lawmen coming for Marston, all the sudden there was an army after him though. I went from herding cattle and mustangs to fighting off 50 men and I didn't know why...wish there'd been a better buildup. They also never elaborated on the mysterious guy in black who "knew John" and was bulletproof.

I felt the exact same way. I kept thinking I must've missed a cutscene or something because I don't understand why all of a sudden the army would be after to kill you. I understood that Marston didn't have the best relationship to the feds, but he did ultimately fulfill his end of the bargain. Never did it seem that the feds were going to kill him, until that final scene. Overall the ending was done poorly. It should've ended when you went back home. You had this climax, then you're backing fucking herding again, and then you get attacked by the army? Wtf?

This might have been talked about already (didnt read the entire thread) but I want to make sure it's been covered.

ENDING SPOILERS
Ross used Marston to hunt down and kill everyone in his old gang. Once he's fulfilled his obligations he returns Marston to his ranch and family. Ross then attacks the ranch to kill Marston.

See, apparently Ross never told anyone that Marson was secretly working for him (I imagine back then it was easier to do this type of thing) and claimed he's the one who actually tracked everyone down and killed them.

If you read the local paper in Blackwater once you being playing as Jack you'll see that Ross has retired with these honors that include taking down Marston(!). You'll also find that Irish accidentally shot himself, the Marshal retired promising never to return, Ricketts passed away, Seth became a successful treasure hunter, and Reyes was now a tyrant.

Sold my copy of the game yesterday, I'll buy it again in a few months when it's cheaper, ATM it doesn't have much pull for me.

My friend let me try the game out the other day and the funniest thing happened. I was roaming the first ranch you start out in, finding people to punch. After I finish knocking down a guy, I saw a woman nearby and I punched her. The main character said the funniest thing as he punched her: "I feel sorry for your husband."

I'd never go back to MW2......that game got pretty repetitive online. It seems everyones a stat whore. I did enjoy the Spec Ops challenges though.

If that's actually the reasoning it's rather thin. At one point, after you start doing mission in Blackwater, he drives you through town with you in the back of a truck manning a gatling gun with the entire town gawking at you... after which you proceed to meet a sizable contingent from the Army. The "secret" that you were working with/for him doesn't seem all that secret. Not to mention that by that point you are rather famous and would have obviously been seen walking freely around town going in and out of the government offices. You also had that big bank shootout in the middle of town with Ross and company right along side you.

I agree with the other guys, the ending didn't seem to make much sense. They could have at least set up some story where Ross simply thought his past crimes couldn't be redeemed and he frames him for something. Just coming in with a bunch of Army with no explanation seemed sort of like a cheap ending.

I did enjoy the Spec Ops challenges though.

Too bad neither of the map packs included more Spec Ops challenges. I'd like to see more available via DLC. It's a little late now, but I'd probably go back and play those with a friend.

Agreed. I think it's strange that Marsten has no issue killing and robbing, but is grossed out when he has to slaughter an animal he just killed.

A lot of things you can do are clearly at odds with the character that is shown in the cutscenes. If you decide to be a total bastard in the game by killing everyone and everything, it doesn't fit with the way John carries himself when talking to major characters and doing missions. In fact, that John probably wouldn't even agree to do half of the missions he does; at the very least some of them would turn out a lot differently.

It's certainly nice to have some options but it has its price in terms of fitting in with the single player narrative.

Well, I got to 100% completion yesterday. It kind of sucks cause now I have nothing to do, but I just couldn't stop playing.

Oh well, guess I'll have to move to free roam with my buddies.
