Where can I find the damned beavers? I have ridden the river forever and have yet to see one.

Do you have the northernmost chunk of land unlocked? That's where I'm assuming they are but I haven't gotten that far yet.

Don't know. I am in Mexico and need them for that guys airplane.

lol, I'm stuck at the same spot - according to my friend you can't get any beavers until you unlock the last part of the game - by Tall Trees

Almost at the end of the game and wanted to post some gripes about the controls for the game. Don't get me wrong, this is a great game and a GotY contender and most of these could potentially be resolved in minor patches down the road.

1) Auto aim points too low from center when targeting beavers. Usually results in a miss unless said beaver is going downhill from you or you use the analog stick to correct it.
2) Beavers damn hard to find considering you eventually need 5 skins for a sidequest.
3) Holstering your weapon auto reloads it and you auto holster after a few seconds on non-shooting or dedicated aiming (which could tick off a passing by NPC if you aim towards their direction). These would not be an issue if there were no-reload related requirements for some sharpshooter ranks.
4) Auto centering, makes targeting non-center targets (weapon, arm, leg) trickier when releasing the control stick snaps you back to center of target. Disabled option called "Auto-Centering" but nothing changed.
5) I can put 5 repeater shots in the legs of a grizzly and the sucker can still move at full speed (course this was away instead of towards me after the shots landed).
6) Are zoom in slideshows stuffed with timing delays really necessary when picking up, putting down or placing a hogtied person on you horse. These leave you vulnerable for 3x the time duration it should take. The slideshows take so long that reinforcements can spawn, close distance, and line up a execution style firing line and spin you around like a deadly form of pin the tail on the donkey before you are able to respond. This becomes more of an issue late in the game where reinforcements come in larger groups and faster speeds with better weapons when bounty hunting.

Yea, all those animations annoyed the hell out of me. Skinning an animal takes 5 seconds, looting a person 2 seconds, putting someone on the horse 2 seconds, and so on. Add to that when you're trying to sell a whole bunch of stuff, you have to do it individually. Ugh.

Thankfully, if you put the dead animal on the left side of your horse, you can skin it instantly.

you can sell more than 1 item at a time, at least in the ps3 version. use the R3 stick to change the qty. I assume it works in a similar fashion on the Xbox version. this has already been mentioned in this thread at least once.

I'm stuck at the marksman challenge where you need to shoot the hats off 2 people. Every time I've tried it, I headshot the people. if you try it on regular people, they get scared and run away. What's the trick?

You can on the 360 as well.

You are invulnerable during those cutscenes. I've been shot with almost over 9000 bullets while looting a corpse or something else like that and when I came out of it, I was not the least bit injured.

I believe if you change the aiming from normal to the higher difficulty one it "fixes" some of your issues but I am not sure about that.

Also, going into Dead Eye reloads your gun instantly, at least it does in multiplayer.

I completed that by shooting the gang members with the tall hats.

I did this during one of the missions with the gatling gun lol. I also shoot enemy's hats off all the time when aiming for a headshot.

I got that one without even attempting it. It doesn't have to be two hats in a row, merely 2 hats ever. I just shot for the head and sometimes I would be too high.

I got it accidentally during a gatling gun mission.

Invulnerable during the cutscene yes, but I've died several times immediately coming out of it. The problem for me is that the cutscene forces your viewpoint one way, and then frequently changes the viewpoint yet again when the cutscene is over. It can take a second to get your bearings. If they really wanted to have the cutscenes, I would have much preferred that the viewpoint stick with whatever the user chose so I can watch my back while looting the bandit.

If you have the sniper rifle, just find a town where it has people sitting out in the open doing squat and pick off the hats from a distance. If they can not see you aiming at them they are less "jittery". One town I liked was the camp in the woods near Tall Trees where you can buy a log cabin house. Just a note, him and his friends will be pissed at ya so sprint off a bit and come back and get the 2nd hat shot.

If you do not have the sniper rifle. Go to your McFarlane Ranch house and shoot the hat off the guy to you immediate right when you exit your house. Make sure to use deadeye and aim from the back left or right. That way he does not see you aiming for him while in deadeye and found easier to shoot hat off from side shots than direct back or front shots.

Both versions results in no penalty hits (unless you miss and kill them), then just reload, walk out of your house and try again.

Deadeye reolads in SP also.
That's odd cause the video I watched on Sharpshooter rank 10 had a guy going in an out of deadeye in the mines. Rank 10 requires you to disarm 6 times without reloading or changing weapons.

Edit: Okay have verified that deadeye auto-reloading does not count as reloading for the Sharpshooter/Master Hunter challenges. Was not able to verify that reloading due to holstering weapon counts as reloading.

For the past week or so I haven't really done any story missions. I've just been wandering around doing challenges/stranger missions. I hunted down a white horse because mine died and I heard the white ones were supposed to be good. It doesn't really seem faster than my golden one. The white one actually feels kinda slower. Maybe it's just my imagination.

The golden one was a fast horse, I think the white ones are medium speed. I have been looking for a black one but can't find one so far.

The black horse is only in the third and final area of the game (Blackwater area), I found one
right next to the Marston ranch
.

Thanks. I assumed they were in that area, as I haven't unlocked it yet and have searched every other place on the map.

Does anyone know if you can cheat in the high stakes poker game? I saw there was an achievement for winning a large pot, just wondering if I can cheat to win that.

I don't see how, you have to wear a specific suit to get into high stakes games and a different suit to cheat. I don't see any way to do both.

I'm not that far yet, but it would be pretty stupid to include a suit that lets you into high stakes games if that suit wasn't needed to get into high stakes games... but again I'm not that far yet.

The players at the regular table in Blackwater will routinely bet the pot up over 2000, so it's not too hard to get the achievement there. That's where I got it. I was so close to getting it in Chuparosa, I won 1996 in a single hand and knocked three guys out of the game. That was pretty sweet. :)
