Thanks guys.
How about a giant 22" CRT? I used one before until about 2 years ago for my pc and it was great. Or will the 4:3 aspect screwup gameplay or somesuch?
Ghosting certainly wont be an issue with a CRT. If you have one, give it a try and see how it does.

Though, over time they get a bit fuzzy.

A good widescreen CRT to go for is the Sony GDM-FW900. Heavy as heck. I remember it bending my desk :)

softpedia.com - Battlefield 3 Gets Double XP Between May 9 and May 13

Battlefield-3-Gets-Double-XP-Between-May-9-and-May-13.png

Even if DICE is busy talking about its upcoming Battlefield 4, the studio hasn't forgotten about current Battlefield 3 players and has confirmed that a special Double XP promotion will be held between May 9 and May 13.

Battlefield 3 received its final downloadable expansion last month, in the form of End Game, and has since seen a full-fledged sequel, Battlefield 4, be announced for release later this year.

In order to keep Battlefield 3 players hooked on the experience, DICE has now confirmed on the franchise's Facebook page that a very special Double XP period will be held between May 9 and May 13 next month.

During these 96 hours, all ranked matches will earn players double the XP points, resulting in a faster progression through the ranks.

You can expect to hear more details about the double XP period as we get closer to May.

I guess nobody likes the CTF game mode. I normally can only find 5-6 servers running it and then only 2-3 have people on it.
So confusing. CTF is the best!
This post made me want to earn that CTF winner medal. (requires 50 wins)

CTF is definitely hit and miss with me. Very hard to find people who want to grab a bike and go for a flag.

Totally agree. If I can get on a team that even somewhat works toward the goal, its really fun. But nothing enrages me more than to find myself on a team of nincompoops who think its TDM or that CTF means to Camp The Flag.

I think the main problem with CTF is that the maps aren't that great. CTF on bazaar, seine, and metro would be simply amazing.

Seine I can kind of see, CTF Bazaar or Metro sounds horrifying.

I particularly like the new kind of arid/plains map. I don't know any of them by name yet but it's got that big close quarters building in the center and some shacks/cover scattered in the fields around it.

They should open up CTF to the other maps.
Caspian,Firestorm,Damavand Peak, and Bandar Desert would be awesome.

I agree but those city maps Vulgar mentioned would be a nightmare.

I know what he's after..........racking up huge body counts while holding a choke point.

I'll have to buy one second hand, an olde giant 22" one tonne model. I can probably get one under 150$ with some auction searching locally.
Is there anything I can do to make certain this is the problem?

Ghosting will show up with any fast moving screen action. Watch a movie/DVD on your monitor and see if you notice the same type of blurriness in action scenes that you are seeing in game.

Metro is horrifying. Just got done with 64 player Metro. It turned into a grenade and rocket spamfest at the last defense section, I think (ticketing area).

TBH i think the issue with CTF on the PC is that there are too many people on the map. it works great on the console when you are limited to 24 total and is actually one of the more fun game modes

I forgot how lop sided normal matches can be without the server balance mods. Not fun at all when I'm the only high-ish rank person on the team with sub level 20 players opposed by a clan or high ranked stacked team.

Metro is amazing, with 32 players or less. In fact, most of the maps are broken with more than 32 players if you ask me.

Yeah, it can get outta hand in a hurry!

Since CTF has no uncaps it reminds me of how bad things could get for the team that has all its vehicles stolen and enemies inside the base destroying any and all hope of victory in earlier BF titles. Tis definitely better to give than receive. LOL

I avoid 64 player servers habitually. You can of course 'fit' that many players on the maps, but unless you had a server with substantial respawn timers it still devolves into spam fests and getting gunned down as soon as you leave cover because there's just that many enemies.

"Heavy Metal" is the only map I can readily think of that I would actually be ok with playing at 64. Though the flipside to that being that it's an incredibly boring map with less than 30 players lol.

You talking for just CTF? I regularly play Caspian, Firestorm and Kharg Island on 64 man servers and haven't really had an issues. Canals is more iffy but usually OK.

heavy metal, the BC2 map?

Agree. Full 64 player servers tend to turn into a big Charlie Foxtrot. 48 is my max on most maps and usually have more fun with even less (24-32).

Bandar Desert and Alborz Mountains are two BF3 maps that need 64 players but I hate both of those. Bandar is big and bland and Alborz is a huge pain to navigate.

Cant answer for darkwaffle, but for me 64 is too many for any gametype to really be enjoyable.

Agreed, 48 is a perfect mix for the vehicle maps.

I did miss some good heavy metal rounds, but that was rare. Most of the time I was the lone person in the tank getting pounded by air as the whole team were snipers.
