Thanks guys, that and 'locking the monitor rate' appears to have done it!
BTW, I looked at upgrading to Premium for the full local servers, its about $50 via the Origin store here in Japan, and I'm not sure it'll be in English. Is it possible to upgrade cheaper some other way?

Just keep an eye out for it to go on sale again. I imagine that'll happen in summer, if not sooner. And look in retail channels as well.

Can you purchase on Amazon? They have sales quite a bit more frequently than Origin.

Thanks guys
I can order from Amazon Japan. What's the difference between "Premium Edition" download and "Premium" download, other than $45 and $75?
http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_sb...ld-keywords=battlefield+3+premium+pc+download

I can't read Japanese, but I think the download is a game code, while the boxed version comes with the DVD, manual, and such.

If you already have BF3, the premium upgrade is only $40. I am going to do that either tonight or tomorrow because without it, there are so few servers I want to play.

Thanks fellas
I'm still trying to dial in the graphics. When stationary, everything looks about perfect. But I noticed when I move the mouse, particularly side to side rapidly, the graphics get rough in the sense of multiple faded images 'following' the lead. Not sure how to describe it. For example, I took a picture of the screen with my cell while moving the character in front of a flag pole, and you can distinctly see several flag poles in the one picture.
Its not unplayable by any means, but it really stands out in comparison with all the care that went into the rest of the graphics, and distorts the gameplay a bit. It does this in both online and campaign.
Is this my LCD monitor being unable to keep up with the system?

Or are there more settings to tweak? I've everything on "ultra", but turned off "Antialiasing Deferred" and turned on "Vertical sync"

Do you notice that in other games? If it was the monitor it would do it in other games as well.

Thanks. Turning off motion blur doesn't do much.
It's as if you're seeing a bunch of double images, which makes it a bit hard on the eyes. Anything can be done about? The monitor specs are in the link provided.
Edit: the only other game I play is bfbc2, which also does this.

If both games are doing the same thing then its most likely ghosting. The only solution is to get a better monitor.

The last ASUS LCD I bought had severe ghosting issues even though it was rated with a 2ms response time and had great reviews on Newegg. However I couldnt play on it for more than 10 minutes without getting a headache along with nausea. I returned that monitor and got a Dell IPS panel and the problem was solved.

How much do these "good" monitors typically go for, and do you have a model number or link?

Droid-Life.com - NVIDIA CEO Shows Off Battlefield 3 on New Kepler Mobile Hardware

by: Tim-o-tato | posted 04.15.13 | News, Videos

Speaking at last week’s company investor day, NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, gave attendees a treat for the eyes. If you know NVIDIA, you know about their love for roadmaps and teasing future (and I stress future) products. Last week, Jen-Hsun gave everyone a peak at a project called, Kepler Mobile. With the Kepler Mobile chip, mobile devices will be able to rival the processing power of today’s computers, allowing gamers to play top titles such as Battlefield 3 on a tablet.

NVIDIA engineers have been working hard to shrink down the size of Kepler, while also bringing its power consumption down from dozens of watts to hundreds of milliwatts. During GTC, Jen-Hsun announced that the upcoming Logan processor (possibly known as the Tegra 5) would feature the Kepler GPU.

So, while we await Tegra 4 devices and the performance they have in store, I guess it’s time to start waiting for this as well.

By no means am I a monitor expert, Im sure others here could give much better advice. I just go by reviews and what my own eyes tell me. This is the one I am currently using: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824260047

Thanks.
Are there any tricks or settings I've missed to smooth out this "ghosting" at all, or is it an immovable phenomenon?
I decided I'm not sinking anymore $ into this upgrade, other than the Premium expansion. I can't quite put my finger on why exactly, but I'm not enjoying BF3. I've played the BF series for 10 years, and this is the first time I haven't felt the upgrade was worth it.

Ghosting has to do with how fast the pixels can change and how quickly the image is processed. Obviously, the higher the response time the more you notice it. While your monitors might have a game mode or a post processing you can shut off, it won't improve an extreme amount.

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ is the place I'd look for more information on specific monitors and things relating to them.

I guess nobody likes the CTF game mode. I normally can only find 5-6 servers running it and then only 2-3 have people on it.
So confusing. CTF is the best!

I am really liking the close quarters expansion maps. I did get into a map that was all jets. I instantly left. I just dislike vehicles in this game, no idea why. I tend to stay away from anything other than a humvee for transport.

CTF is definitely hit and miss with me. Very hard to find people who want to grab a bike and go for a flag.

Thanks guys.
How about a giant 22" CRT? I used one before until about 2 years ago for my pc and it was great. Or will the 4:3 aspect screwup gameplay or somesuch?

What about the one with just tanks fighting? How is that one?

Haven't played that one yet. I assume it is just as lame as every other vehicle map.
:confused::thumbsdown:

Hating BF for having vehicles is like hating porn stars for having big tits.

Vehicles are really integral to the whole BF experience. I get that you don't like them, that's fine, but it really means you're missing a HUGE aspect of the game.

Oh, I don't have a problem with vehicles. In fact, I love blowing them up. I just dislike driving them myself.
