The last battle in NWN2 is really kicking my butt.
*Spoiler*
I can get past the first form of the KoS, but its many manifestations on the second part are proving very difficult. They regen so quickly, and killing 1 only makes 2 more spawn in. I know the statues need to be destroyed, but they are invulnerable until a point. Furthest I've gotten so far, Ammon makes a statement that 1 statue is down, kill the remaining manifestations. At that point, Kelgar, myself and Casavir only had three manifestations left. When there was one left, I used the rod of resurrection to raise some of my fallen party members. As soon as the first party member came back up, several more manifestations spawned in, and the statues were still invulnerable. I'm going to make more attempts now, but I'm not seeing the 'unbelievably easy' factor that some have claimed in this fight.
Hmm, there should be 3 phases to the fight:
- In the 1st, there's just the one big KoS, vulnerable to attacks, goes down fast. Khelgar says 'I thought there was more to it' or something like that.
- In the 2nd phase, small KoS start to spawn. I just hacked away at them and went on to the 3rd phase. Maybe you have to kill them faster than they can spawn. It usually took me about 2 minutes or less to complete this phase. Otherwise, your game may be bugged.
- 3rd phase is one big KoS again, except this time he's invulnerable. You need to destroy all the statues and then attack the portal with the Gith Sword. Then you can hurt KoS, and he goes down faster than a bag of rocks.
I did find the 'good' ending rather easy (on hardcore). The 'evil' ending is another matter - I had to strip all my companions beforehand to get through the fight, especially since being evil made me lose all my Druid abilities and spells.
