But the Chinese study surrounding an infected individual in a restaurant, who infected a number of people thanks to an air conditioning vent blowing across the room concerns me. It goes to show that in certain circumstances, you can have on person infect many and masks are going to be unwelcome (due to the nature of stuffing food in your face).
I'm hopeful we'll see enough downward trend that it will be safe to dine in restaurants again. I'm just reluctant to do it until I know the case count numbers aren't being manipulated by government (which will just take time). I'm confident that China is bouncing back, but they've had exposure to this much longer than we have....it's just gotta run its course.

I'm aware of that case and have a couple observations
1) The AC in question was a ventless mini-split. Insufficient or almost non-existent air exchange and filtration is something that can be handled. Interestingly nobody outside the airstream of that unit in the restaurant got the virus.
2) People talk a lot when eating and drinking in a dining setting. Often loudly. We know that droplet volume drastically increases the louder somebody gets just like with exertion. I don't think the acts of eating and drinking themselves are the problem.

I'm referring to the rejection of what was a comment based on current known demographic data of masking, vs masking = communist plot dunderhead populations. ....which we already know--and I should remind you has been posted here several times--is something like 33:1? in favor of democrat/liberal minded people wearing masks vs idiot conservatives. ...we also know that blacks overall are a minority population in this country, something like 25%? We also know that self-described conservatives are something like 85-90% white, correct?
...I'm just saying that is how statistics work when one is making an educated guess. Like you and I when we are driving and some asshole slams on the breaks for no reason or cuts us off in front of us . It doesn't matter if we are right in that instant by accusing the person of being some "dumb broad"; what matters is that the numbers inform us that our base assumptions are generally couched in actual data (OK....except for the driving thing; women tend to be safer/less dangerous/stupid drivers than men....OK, unless we are talking about Asian women, at which point I have pissed off some other people

Important thing is whether or not he learned something from his little experiment and used that data to update his thinking....rather than dismissing it/calling it a hoax for some reason to defend his bad behavior.

Well, I'm not in the stores so can't comment on that, but most of the people outdoors here are wearing masks. On bikes, walking the streets. In the stores, I imagine it's almost everybody. People have been getting used to it. It gets into their heads after a while. They see so many people wearing them, they start to think it's the thing to do, at least not that it's not the thing to do.

Suppose one is infected with SARS Cov 2 and is asymptomatic..How does that persons body know how to combat the virus ? If the virus isnt causing any adverse effects, (i.e fever,cough, loss of taste/smell, shortness of breath)and the body thinks its benign is it possible, that the virus and persons immune system can just coexist and the said person become a spreader of the virus indefinitely?

Exposure to other coronaviruses has left some functional immune response. Though even in asymptomatic people they often find lung abnormalities so the protection is not near total.
No, they clear the virus and become non-infectious.

Your immune system fights the virus on multiple fronts. The "adverse effects" are actually caused by your immune system, not the virus. Fever, inflammation, etc act as signals to activate other parts of your immune system when your body feels they are justified/needed. Often, it over-reacts, which is what kills you (ARDS, Cytokine Storm, etc).
A low viral load for the initial infection gives your body a chance to fight off the infection before it becomes serious and never needs to go that far. This is why masks also protect the wearer, resulting in slightly fewer infections and much more mild infections (more likely to be asymptomatic if infected while wearing a mask). Here's a video about that from... today:
Local restaurant was shut down because he didn't wear a masked. Said it was government control and he is fighting for liberty.

India has 1.3B people, many of whom are poor and live in crowded slums in megacities, with little to no social safety net. It was obvious months ago they would eventually careen to disaster; essentially they are like Brazil but with 6 times the population.
Does it matter that they want states ready by Nov 1? I'm not sure i understand why the media(at least) is making such a big deal over the date.
Or is the amount of paperwork involved so massive as to be an issue to have the permits ready by then?
