How is this game in terms of itemization? Is it like a D2/3 where you can find items but with varying stats? Making some more valuable than others? Or are there cookie cutter items only? I am trying to decide whether to just play this, or buy D3 again with the expansion and start over.

Stats are fairly random but seem to be grouped by item type and then each type has several "sub-types" which will feature a fairly typical set of stats for that particular item. Basically, itemization is very much identical from what I remember to Diablo 2.

Are there many end game items you can farm and sell/barter for serious currency though? Kind of like high end green set items in D3? My enjoyment with these types of games comes from farming after work to burn off some steam at the end of the day. If farming solo does not pay off, might not give it a shot..

Is there a way to break down items? It seems I'm putting everything into crafting, and I was wondering if I was missing out on something involving the purple and yellow items....

Thanks in advance...

yea there is not really much to farm. unless you want other characters and such. it really lacks a stable end game

Used splinters to get my first random hero tonight and got Scarlet Witch. Man she is fun! Took her up to 15 already. My captain america is 19 but I think I'm going to shelve him and roll with Scarlet witch to 60 first. She is just too much fun to stop playing now.

Any idea what Psylocke will play like? I was tempted to preorder her based on that starting costume alone. :D

it seems to me that credits are pretty worthless anyway. cap is 3 million, and I was sitting on 1.5million after 1 week just....leveling and doing some grindy farming (selling nothing, donating everything to level crafters...so, all monies from gold drops more or less). SO, not sure what there is to gain by having the most monies

I guess you can trade for certain runes and show people how leet you are by collecting rare runes that you will never use. :\

I don't know, I get the feeling that trading in this game doesn't do much for you right now.

Credits aren't exactly worthless...

Go to Clea and buy yourself an Iron Buddy. I'm uncertain if they are or are not still capable of being donated to crafters, but at last check they were basically the way to powerlevel your crafters up. And they're one hell of a credit sink.

yeah, they are. I think that's what people use them for. You have to be prestige 1 to purchase the first tier Buddy, however. I was about to buy one, saw that...and was a bit turned off.

I had just gotten Jean Grey to 60 and while I like her, the only current useable build for her is really, really boring after a while. sit on stiff and spam AoEs. Anyway, I didn't want to go through leveling her up again, not in this state. I think her review is up soon and she shoudl get the rework within the month?

I was fooling around with Panther and he does get fun when you mess around with certain mele builds. Even at level 24 or so, he's pretty powerful. I'm now alternating between Deadpool and Nightcrawler, and they are tons of fun. All mele Deadpool for now...though at some point I want to try a range build because Shoot all the Bullets is just fun (though I'm sure it gets old/probably not very useful).

The facetanking mele build for him is pretty solid, though I was getting bored, due to his slowness, until I hit 30 and got body slide...which changes everything. Li'l Deadpool is also a fantastic skill, even at just 1 point.

I can see myself prestiging either of those before Jean Grey right now.

I'm currently saving splinters for IronMan, and will probably just random throughout after that...though I hear Venom/Magneto are out soon, and Silver Surfer will be out sometime down the line. I might have to save up again for Venom or Magneto.

Well I had a paypal credit burning a hole in my pocket, so I bought Iron Man. Pretty fun so far as well. I'm going to finish the story with Scarlet Witch most likely and then level Iron Man and start saving splinters for Ms Marvel or Dr Strange.

Hehe... I got Iron Man as my latest hero with a random hero box bought with splinters.

IMHO, the only thing you should be buying with "cash" is STASH space. If you want particular heroes, wait until BOGO sales. Still I can't fault you - it's one of those "If you like the game enough, might as well spend some $ on something you like" type of things.

Yea I've spent $20 so far for Iron Man and some stash space. Considering I was looking for a new game anyway, and would have spent $60 on something, I figure I'm ahead of the game. I don't mind paying money for a game I enjoy, especially since the developers seem to really be into making this game great. I'm glad to support them. Still have credits left over for more stash space.

I do agree. Gazillion and Marvel Heroes sort of make me look forward to weekend gaming these days.

I've now got Nightcrawler to level 50. He is quite boss I must say. Deadpool is also fun, mele at least, and if nothing else, his banter keeps you going. I don't think he has gotten his review yet, though? His ultrapower whatever is still at lvl 30. I wonder what will happen to him after that...

You beat me to it Sunny. Anyone tried Psylocke yet? Got another few hours of slave work left.

No, but there were a bunch of her running around the hubs when the servers went live this morning, the time I had to mess around before work.

I'm currently saving for Iron Man and have ~260 splinters now. I'm not really that into Psylocke, but if it's a fun play style I might just dump the splinters. Iron Man is still pre-review anyway, right?

I already have BP to fool around with some more, and should probably level up stupid Hawkeye so that I can get his synergies.

Magneto and Venom are supposed to be available some time this summer I believe--those would be 2 that I really want above most others. Also, Silver Surfer before the end of the year? Yes, please.

I'm still leveling Scarlet Witch, I'm only 26 though. Also have Iron Man and Captain America. I'm tempted to pickup Taskmaster when I hit 200 splinters. Anyone tried him?

I'm hoping they don't completely redo most of his powers like they do when they update them.

Right now he's really fun melee, and "Meh" ranged.

Ironman has been reviewed and redone with an ultimate power. Made him a lot funner than his time before that when they nuked his super powerful missiles attack.

I actually liked Taskmaster, super fun, and felt pretty powerful.

As Hawkeye sits now, specced right, he is pretty fun to play. You don't have to play him as a kite character. With proper equipment and powers, he can be a bad ass, stand there and take whatever comes at him.
