X-men doing respectable for Fox and they aren't close to breaking that contract. FF though is quite bleak by comparison and marvel going the distance to turn the screws, having already cancelled their comics and about everything else featuring them.

well, so those free tokens are only if you don't have the toons unlocked on your account? I didn't get any, so...lame.

Also, every time I log in I am reminded why I couldn't keep playing after one of the recent big updates: cd timer on the dodge/sprint skill for all characters. totally awful. ...you can't even play some characters because of that. Hey, let's limit Nightcrawler's teleports to the same number of times Black Widow can dodge! Yeah, great idea!

If you've been playing any decent amount during the anniversary, you can use your cake to buy enough splinters to get 3 of the 5 heroes (they are all half off at the moment).

The best I've gotten is 25% off :(

They've given me so many free heroes, team-ups, costumes, etc. from events and the "costume blender" (feed in 3 default costumes get 1 random costume) that I can't complain. But I wouldn't say no to a 90% off to buy a few things I'd never buy without it.

Marvel Heroes is shutting down forever on 12-31-2017

Before they go, if you wanted to try any new heroes or costumes before the game shuts down, on PC they are granting 1,000 G a day when you log in and setting the cash shop prices to 50 G per item. So you could unlock 20 heroes with one login.

https://forums.marvelheroes.com/discussion/330130/1000gs-a-day-psa

"We've granted 1000 Gs on PC for all players, and will do so daily. All items should now be 50Gs.

This is the best current solution we have with limited resources and technical limitations of the PC, and wanted to make sure this got out to you. Due to technical limitations on PC, we cannot make all store items available for Eternity Splinters (and can't do this without a patch, either). There is also inventory technical game-breaking issues if we make everything available for 0 or 1G. Currently all prices are reduced to 50 Gs while each day you log in you will receive 1000 Gs. Game on."

Well, for attempting to shoe-horn the Marvel Universe into an ARPG style game that it never really fit, this game lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. It actually had a pretty loyal and passionate fan-base, but looking at their forums while there are many upset people, there clearly aren't enough to support a game like this.

well damn, that's surprising. What happened--ran out of cash, shut down by Disney or Fox for various IP issues? ...I haven't really logged in for about a year but damn I found this game to be incredibly fun for quite some time. ....now I have a massive shame account that will go poof in short order, lol.

Disney-Marvel yanked back the license, probably because Gazillion ran out of cash to pay it but there's nothing official on the reasons.

I liked this much more than the DC version. No warning and no real details other than Disney terminated the deal.

Well, that sucks. I had a lot of time in that game and spent $50 more on game credits earlier this year.

You do have 5 weeks left where you can get all the heroes and costumes free with the 1,000 Gs per day. Tip: go to the Bundles section to get the hero, their inventory tab, and a second costume for the same 50 Gs as just the hero.

It's "pointless" to make progress, but 5 weeks is more time than I've spent on many single-player games.

Ya, it's just you level chars to play them... mmo's need to get better about this issue.

Spend 50 of your 1,000 daily Gs on a 72 Spiderman gamble card pack, you'll get a bunch of boosts including XP boosts. Use 5 at once and you get +200% XP for 2 hours. Get some of the other 36 card packs to unlock more pets and special costumes plus get more boosts.

Level up Cyclops first, if you add him to the "hero synergy" tab (on the Powers window) for other heroes you get another +10% XP.

Thanks, I already have a ton of boosts - never used one - and a 60 cyclops. Ugh. This game setup where they shut them...

FYI, a couple of the laid-off developers have posted that the game will shut down this Friday 11/24, and Gaz is neither confirming nor denying it.

So if you wanted to take one last look around the house, do it now.

This one seems to be going down in the gaming industry about 'worst MMO shutdown'. Console just launched last spring.

It's not the fastest (APB spent over $100 million on making the game and shut down in three months) or the least-justified (City of Heroes comes to mind as one that seemed like a rush to close it, Star Wars Galaxies killed by The Old Republic), but just in the last month they put out a statement the company was running normally, no problem, and with big planned enhancements to the game.

I don't remember an MMO not even keeping a 6-week commitment on the shutdown, becoming one week.
