Here in the Seattle area, 1" of snow practically shuts down the entire area. But there are many steep hills and we just aren't used to much, if any, snow. Which now that I am out of grade school is fine with me.

We just got about 9 inches at Philadelphia airport from last night. I saw maybe about 6 inches on my sidewalk. Snow came 1 day early. Shoulda came tomorrow night to welcome in the Saints. The snow melting off the hood of the car freezes into icicles before it hits the ground.

Browsing around message boards today one thing strikes me - a lot of people are really obsessed with Jay Cutler.

Why? I don't get it. My only concern in the whole deal was that I felt the Bears had a better chance to win with him than without him. It ends there - other than that I couldn't care less.

Cutler is talented and can make all of the throws but much like Romo, when the game or season is on the line, you just hold your breath and hope he doesn't make yet another boneheaded play.

buy flacco got two rings, while cutler got no rings

Flacco has ONE ring. not two. Bears went to the NFC championship in his 2nd year here, vs 2009 when they went 7-9. They did also add Peppers and Jennings that year......and Major Wright :p

They want the bears to keep QB swapping until they have the Next A-A-Ron or Brees or Peyton Manning

he started this season off with 3(I think 3, 2-4 for sure) game ending game winning drives.

Against the Packers on the last 2 drives, Jeffries and Marshall each had key drops on passes that him them in the hands :( But I don't think anyone blames jay for this last L

Smith is much better than he got credit for.

Hardbaugh had no idea how to utilize him obviously, compared to Reid

I disagree, he did very well under Hardbaugh. The problem is he thought Kap was a lot better based on very little playing time.

Short run its going to hurt it seems but will really know this time next year.

His stats aren't bad if you ignore some bad games early in the season. This is not going to be a high scoring game.

good point

you know Tebow is a really good QB if you ignore some bad stats early in his career

Do you not remember how Smith played prior to Harbaugh? He got benched for Troy Smith and David Carr.. o_O

He got injured when Carr replaced him. While Alex Smith wasn't spectacular when he started his career, he also didn't have that great of receivers around him until VD. The guys had quite a few OC changes as well, not like he was able to keep using the same playbook.

To be fair, he had 5 offensive coordinators starting each of his first 5 season, and the 5th was fired halfway through the 6th. Harbaugh really turned that entire team around.

Um, VD was drafted the year after Smith.

Granted, it wasn't until '09 VD started to actually be a factor.

I didn't want him to say I don't consider VD a great receiver. He was pretty much the only receiver other than Crabtree, who kind of sucked his first year as well.

True. I still remember the "We Want Carr" chants at Candlestick.. oi.

Yes. Any QB in his position would have failed. To say Harbaugh didn't utilize Smith properly is a bit asinine though. He turned him around and got two 2nd round picks to show for it.

Many labeled Crabtree a bust until year three. His numbers went up after Kaep started throwing though. With Smith - 42 receptions, 492 yards, 4 touch downs in 9 games. With Kaepernick, 63 receptions, 898 yards, 8 touchdowns in 10 games.

All of these.

Carr has a very loyal, local following (following isn't quite the right word, maybe fan base?) due to himself and brother playing at Fresno State.

The 49ers would not be any better off with Smith than Kaep. Smith is playing like Smith (which is to say if it wasn't for Jamaal Charles we wouldn't even be having this conversation as it'd be more than clear that Smith is nothing special), and Kaep is having a, not unexpected, rough 2nd year. But the 49ers still have a young QB with a lot of upside plus another 2nd round pick, and the Chiefs have a middling stopgap QB that will hopefully buy them time to groom a young franchise QB (shame Reid wasn't able to bring Foles with him).

Which was the whole reason for keeping Kaep starting. The upside was far greater as we already knew the limits of what Smith could do.

Seriously, it's an asinine argument especially when you consider the cap considerations between Smith who makes way more than Kap

There are a few people on this forum that I will not engage in debates about football any longer, darkswordman is one of them. You'd be wise to do the same.

did you ever watch the games with Harbaugh? He turned Smith from bathscum into the top rated QB for 1.5 seasons.

lol--the ONLY reason he is now in KC is because Harbaugh turned him on.
