You and I have had this conversation before, but our differences never were this... weird.

It might be possible that a President can be charged BUT not tried until after his term. I'm not sure on this because who the hell could be? Nothing like this ever has happened in our history. But putting a President in prison while still holding Office? As you say it can't work that way.

If there's a strong enough case against Trump for a federal indictment then there's a strong enough case he'll be forced to resign, one way or another. It may not even be over the Russia thing but over financial crimes uncovered during the investigation.

I doubt that Friday will pass w/o action from Mueller's office.

Man, I get on a plane for a few hours and as soon as I land all I'm hearing about is some wacko press conference and this. Life comes at you fast.

When Mueller presents what he has to Whitaker .. does Whitaker really have a choice? If the evidence is there, wouldnt Whitaker be committing obstruction if he put a lid on it?

Sure, he simply says, 'I don't see any evidence here that warrants the continued investigation. The President has declared that everything you have collected is classified information if you tell anyone that it even exists you will be arrested for espionage.'

Also, alt-right Twitter believes this has nothing to do with Mueller or the Russia investigation, nothing at all. This is about Trump getting a righteous AG with a spine who can finally lock up Hillary and Pelosi and Feinstein!

Rosenstein summoned eh? Well that's definitely the Wed Afternoon Massacre and should trigger the planned protests, now or very soon.

The only thing to do is march on Selma, er, DC. it seems.

I don't know if Mueller will have an office come tomorrow. Sessions is out and reportedly Rosenstein is on his way to the WH. If the latter is true (we got conned before) and Rosenstein is out then Winter has Come.

Do yourself a (dis)favor and watch the press conference in it's entirety. It's a new low.

Can you explain how the judiciary having the power to remove the president from office at will is not a violation of the separation of powers doctrine?

It's not at will if he has committed a crime. If the rule of law has any meaning then everyone must be equally subject to it.

The judiciary also doesn't have to remove him from power to have a trial. He can be charged and tried without going to jail. If he's convicted, then there's an argument to be had if he can be imprisoned without being impeached. However, I think even the Republican Senate would impeach him if he was convicted of a crime. The GOP can't win elections on the Trump fanatics alone, and leaving a felon in office would alienate all but the most fanatical supporters.

Rosenstein has been replaced by Trump minion on supervising Mueller. Mueller has only hours to do something, if that.

Seriously now, is anyone really surprised?

While I always thought that he looked a little bit like a demented Tolkien character with a gold card, and a little twisted in his thinking, he was an honorable man.

And everybody with more than two active brain cells is fully aware that Donny has an allergic reaction to integrity.

This is quite bad. trump looked like shit today, even sounded 'slurry', the old bastard.

I agree that there is no way Mueller didn't see this coming, Going to be quite interesting/terrifying.

I'm in though, trump can't be above the law. Of all people, he is the last deserving a pass on any shit he and his criminal family have done.

Wait I thought this was the midterms? Didn’t realize we’d be getting a new president so soon but I’m down for it.

Yeah... new... as if the base thinks Trump finally grew a pair, has manned up, and is starting to do "what needs to be done".

Seriously, what else did you mean? Impeachment? Us and what Senate?

Welp... The POTUS, since the AG works at the pleasure of him, definitely has the authority to fire Sessions. This was affirmed at the Supreme Court in Myers v. United States. One thing about it, the new AG won't go in recused from anything. This could be good or bad, depending on things. It's also time for Mueller to shit or get off the pot. If he's got something, he needs to bring it while he can. He's had 2 years to figure out if there is a there there. It's going to be bad enough for the American people that there is going to be gridlock in congress for the next two years and even worse if this Mueller thing is still looming.
