The Japanese (or any Asian's for that matter) are not even in the ballpark although its not a contest.

Ironically some of the worst crimes against humanity visited upon Asian's were committed BY the Japanese in Manchuria during WWII.

ボゲ = boge is really more like a rough-sounding slangy pronunciation of ぼけ = boke, which literally means the joke guy in a straight guy - joke guy comic duo, but is used more like idiot or shithead and can sound pretty aggressive, especially the ボゲ = boge form lol.

I'm going to pull the dickhead move and say, "I didn't read the whole thread" because, well, I didn't read the whole thread.

Anyway, things got a lot better for awhile on the issue of institutional racism. With the current backsliding on institutional racism, things are getting worse again as the GOP is determined to disenfranchise as many voters as they can in order to solidify their minority rule.

As part of a research project, I've been spending a lot of time reading Arizona newspapers from 1860 - 1940. The racism displayed is spectacular; today, you have to listen to Proud Boy types to hear the kind of language that was common in mainstream newspapers back then. Editorials demanding the extermination of all Native Americans were a staple of the 1870s. They weren't subtle dog-whistles, they were outright demands for extermination. As the Indian wars wound down, the papers moved on to publishing racist material about black people. When the Anglo population achieved sufficient size in the territory, the former Mexican majority were added to the target list for editorial belittlement. Chinese were a perennial favorite target as well for racist commentary.

Instituionliazed segregation. Publicly discouraged intermingling. Vigilante terrorism.(Even into the 80s, neighbors terrorized Mariah Carey's mixed family)

Society segregated not pigment but bloodline. Evidence of black ancestry was cause of ostracism.
Whereas, black racism is based on pigment and somewhat on the notion that lighter skinned ones are treated better(colorism). Thus, the inbetweeners can be subject to rejection from sides based on their standards. Not white because their blood is tainted, but not black enough either because the shade in the light is too light for darker blacks.


Today:
Blurred lines. Also, Jews are now "just white" to a lot of people, even though some of their cultural tendencies remain(namely being much better and tight-fisted with money, high value of education).
The renaming of Columbus also indicates the status change of Italian-Americans from minority subject to slurs like those uttered by Woltz in The Godfather:

The US is clearly less racist now than it was in the 1960s. I'd say a more interesting consideration is whether the US is less racist now than in the 2000s.

Guess what? (besides the obvious fact that Shapiro fucking lied and exaggerated numbers to make blacks look worse) The trend (both up and down) has been identical among whites and blacks, and ALWAYS the same percentage higher for blacks. Even in 1960.


The trends for one vs two parent families has been basically the same for Americans since 1960, the earliest I could find complete data for all groups. It started low, climbed until about 2000, and is now slowly going down again.

The magnitude is quite different by race. In 1960 there was already a large disparity in magnitude and has continued to be.

  • 1960
    • Black - 22%
    • White - 8%
    • All - 10%
  • 2020
    • Black - 51%
    • White - 27%
    • All - 36%

I seriously had no idea it was that high.... not saying moms can't teach right from wrong too but in many cases a teenage boy just can't be controlled by mom alone especially if she also works full-time!
