My L90D+ is now dead-pixel free!
Just from reading posts I'm thinking that the quality and/or lemon-sifting of this thing is a little scary. Several with serious backlight issues, a fair percent with dead pixels/stuck pixels, and yours died. The 3 year warranty is looking better and better. Hopefully, Hyundai will be good honoring it. It appears that they have a 3rd party handling RMA's, AVC Tech (in the USA). My experience with them has been sorta weird, schizy, to be frank. I called AVC Tech, and Andy said he was emailing me. 3 hours later, I hadn't gotten the email and called again and he sent another email that he titled "2nd email". That included a couple of attachments, and I received it immediately. I emailed them back with attachments of my invoicing from my etailer. I called again, and Andy said all he needed from me (besides the monitor) was the filled-out document that he'd emailed me. I filled it out, scanned it and attached the JPG. After that, I couldn't get ahold of them. They didn't return my calls or answer my emails. UPS came to me door when I wasn't home. Next day, they came again and I gave them the monitor and received a receipt which had my RMA number on it. Over a week later, I still hadn't heard from anybody, and this was 2 days after they were supposed to get a shipment of L90D+'s, so I called (late Friday afternoon, 5:00 Illinois time). Andy said he couldn't tell what was happening (couldn't even corroborate that they'd received my monitor) and I should call him Monday. That's where it stands.Originally posted by: Gerardjg

I think you should talk to Andy, and I know it seems ridiculous, but I'm sure what occurred to me also occurred to you - that it isn't impossible to send the damn thing to them with the base attached. Yes, it seems nutty, but it's not impossible. You could find a big old box and pack it in there and if the box is big enough, you could even put the L90D+'s box inside, maybe folding it up! When UPS comes to the door, give them the big box with everything inside. The cost of shipping will be on Hyundai's dime, and they can figure out how to remove the base! If you go that route, be careful to pack it all in such a way that it survives the UPS shipping experience without further damage! Good luck!!Originally posted by: rivethead
Muse:
Your words are true.
First off, on the YMMV and Hyundai service being "creepy"......yup. After giving them much praise for calling me and apologizing for my bad pixel, I got the run around (like you) when in came time to get an RMA number. I got one, but I'm under the impression that Andy and his staff are very unorganized. I had to play phone tag with him to get it. He never answered my email request for an RMA number either.
Now....on to the base....
I've got (yet another) call into Andy this am for help on removing the base (like you suggested). However, can you or anyone else tell me how to get the damn thing off? I completely agree with you: the design is bad and the experience has been very frustrating. My fingers are hurting from pinching those tabs and the darn thing still will not come off! I can get it to almost come off, but not all the way. I pinch the tabs and the unit comes out from the base about half way. Then it seems to be "locked" again. I don't get it.
Any hints, anyone (who knows how long it will be before I connect with Andy)?

Do you mean the dead pixel is gone or the monitor is gone, My monitor

case in point www.resellerratings.com. How often is someone who didn't have a problem, post their experience there?

Battlefield Vietnam primarily. I guess I was generalizing, sorry! BFV has higher resolutions, but not 1280x1024. It has 1280x960 and that is very distorted. Friends that have 17" LCD's play in 1024x768 and 17" LCD's have the same native resolution as 19"s. I don't know anyone with a 19" LCD, so I am curious what playing games (BFV) in 1024 looks like on one. Hopefully BF2 will have 1280x1024, even though it will take a state of the art video card to run it decent at that resolution.

Oddly enough mine almost did the same... I checked all connections and rebooted several times and the display was totally dead... But I could still see the OSD?!?! I hit the "reset" in the OSD and the display is perfect again.
Mine's only a week old and it has worse color than the Viewsonic 8ms model I also just purchased. But it's still a nice monitor so far.
Hmm. What makes you think they have any new units to send you? They told me they get them "next week." The guy's English was so bad (the Service Manager) that I didn't feel certain what I was being told. Please post here what transpires. Maybe I'll call again tomorrow and ask Andy point blank if they have any new ones and if not when they will. He seems to answer the phone 1/2 the time, the other half of the time your voice mail messages go into a black hole and you never hear from them. The conversation I had with the "Service Manager" (he seemed to be nameless), left a pretty bad feeling of uncertainty.Originally posted by: rivethead
I'll agree. Getting any information out of Andy is like pulling teeth. I get the very distinct impression that they are disorganized.
I ran home on my lunch break today and tried to get that damn base off. I called Andy again (he hadn't returned my original call...or maybe he did and I was out of my office..could be) and he told me how to get the base off. But his instructions were absolutely no help. I already knew I had to squeeze the tabs. What it came down to was brute strength. I was scared about breaking anything, but I gave it a good tug and it came free. I boxed it up and as I was set to return to work...the doorbell rang and it was the UPS guy. Incredibly lucking timing. I got a tracking number from him and you can be darn sure that the day it arrives in Wood Dale I will be calling Andy to ask if they have sent my replacement! The last time I talked with him, he said they would send another unit "as soon as we get your unit and confirm it has a bad pixel".
Keeping my fingers crossed. I sure do hope they get me a new unit quickly. I absolutely love the L90D+ (except for my one stuck pixel).
