i got mine when it was $359 + tax

i didnt get any dead pixels, but when you have just a black screen, you can see an impression of where pressure was applied on the 4 corners.

no biggie since it's not like i cant notice it unless the screen goes blank. and if it does start to annoy me, thank god for the 3 yr warranty.

Forget that, for $379 they need to get it RIGHT. If my replacement comes back with defects i'm going to demand either a pretested unit or a full refund direct from Hyundai. If they can't get it right, some other company will.

BTW, how likely is it for a dead pixel to clear?
I saw one dead pixel (green over black) during my 1st inspection.
I've been using the monitor ever since and now I can't find that dead pixel anymore!

Sometimes you can massage them out with an eraser or a wet paper towel and your finger, but generally they cannot be fixed.

Just from reading posts I'm thinking that the quality and/or lemon-sifting of this thing is a little scary. Several with serious backlight issues, a fair percent with dead pixels/stuck pixels, and yours died. The 3 year warranty is looking better and better. Hopefully, Hyundai will be good honoring it. It appears that they have a 3rd party handling RMA's, AVC Tech (in the USA). My experience with them has been sorta weird, schizy, to be frank. I called AVC Tech, and Andy said he was emailing me. 3 hours later, I hadn't gotten the email and called again and he sent another email that he titled "2nd email". That included a couple of attachments, and I received it immediately. I emailed them back with attachments of my invoicing from my etailer. I called again, and Andy said all he needed from me (besides the monitor) was the filled-out document that he'd emailed me. I filled it out, scanned it and attached the JPG. After that, I couldn't get ahold of them. They didn't return my calls or answer my emails. UPS came to me door when I wasn't home. Next day, they came again and I gave them the monitor and received a receipt which had my RMA number on it. Over a week later, I still hadn't heard from anybody, and this was 2 days after they were supposed to get a shipment of L90D+'s, so I called (late Friday afternoon, 5:00 Illinois time). Andy said he couldn't tell what was happening (couldn't even corroborate that they'd received my monitor) and I should call him Monday. That's where it stands.

Muse:

Your words are true.

First off, on the YMMV and Hyundai service being "creepy"......yup. After giving them much praise for calling me and apologizing for my bad pixel, I got the run around (like you) when in came time to get an RMA number. I got one, but I'm under the impression that Andy and his staff are very unorganized. I had to play phone tag with him to get it. He never answered my email request for an RMA number either.

Now....on to the base....

I've got (yet another) call into Andy this am for help on removing the base (like you suggested). However, can you or anyone else tell me how to get the damn thing off? I completely agree with you: the design is bad and the experience has been very frustrating. My fingers are hurting from pinching those tabs and the darn thing still will not come off! I can get it to almost come off, but not all the way. I pinch the tabs and the unit comes out from the base about half way. Then it seems to be "locked" again. I don't get it.

Any hints, anyone (who knows how long it will be before I connect with Andy)?

I think you should talk to Andy, and I know it seems ridiculous, but I'm sure what occurred to me also occurred to you - that it isn't impossible to send the damn thing to them with the base attached. Yes, it seems nutty, but it's not impossible. You could find a big old box and pack it in there and if the box is big enough, you could even put the L90D+'s box inside, maybe folding it up! When UPS comes to the door, give them the big box with everything inside. The cost of shipping will be on Hyundai's dime, and they can figure out how to remove the base! If you go that route, be careful to pack it all in such a way that it survives the UPS shipping experience without further damage! Good luck!!

So what is the concensus on this monitor? GOod deal? Good quality? People happy with it?
I am currently shopping for a LCD and thought I was stuck at 17" for the price range I was aiming at... but if this is still hot, and quality then I maybe in I guess.

Its no different then any other popular LCD. If you bought one of the popular Dell 2001FP's or 2005FPW's you would usually have to go through several to get one without dead pixels and most of the 2005FPW's have backlight problems.

I'm going on my third Dell 2005FPW trying to get one without any dead pixels or backlight problems.

You'll always have a handful of complainers that got a defect out of the hundreds maybe thousands that are currently running this LCD without any problems. Its impossible for a manufactuer to put out 100% perfect LCD's every single time when they are being mass produced.

This LCD can't be beat in the 19" range for its price and quality. Its one of the fastest panels available and most people get one with zero dead pixels. The brightness and color reproduction is also excellent compared to what you would get with most other TN+Film panel LCD's available.

And most of you that are saying the brightness level is different top to bottom aren't realizing that this has nothing to do with the LCD's brightness or backlighting, its the viewing angles which are inherent of TN+Film panels. If you want an LCD that doesn't have these problems then your going to have to spend alot more for an S-IPS or PVA panel thats fast enough for gaming.

When there is a hotdeal where so many participate...your bound to get the ones who had a problem post their experience, moreso than the people who don't have any issues... case in point www.resellerratings.com. How often is someone who didn't have a problem, post their experience there? I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who got a perfect monitor out of the box and couldn't be more than happy about it. I may look into getting another LCD for a dual monitor setup. My 19in CRT is taking up way too much space next to my hyundai =)

Well, I purchased this monitor from Amazon.com (well technically from tigerdirect.com) and the shipping was cheaper by going through amazon.com than if I went to tigerdirect.com directly. So I went with Amazon. The total price with shipping was $375.

I just wanted to say thanks to whoever pointed out this monitor. I have been trying to talk my wife into letting me get a new LCD monitor, and after she sees this one in action, she will want one for herself. :)

Oddly enough mine almost did the same... I checked all connections and rebooted several times and the display was totally dead... But I could still see the OSD?!?! I hit the "reset" in the OSD and the display is perfect again.

Mine's only a week old and it has worse color than the Viewsonic 8ms model I also just purchased. But it's still a nice monitor so far.

Maybe you need to do some reading there ;) Good resellers have no problem getting people to post their good experiences.

I don't know anyone with a 19" LCD, so I am curious what playing games (BFV) in 1024 looks like on one. Hopefully BF2 will have 1280x1024, even though it will take a state of the art video card to run it decent at that resolution.

Are you sure it doesn't go higher? Most newer games only allow you to go up to your monitor's max resolution.

Just got off the phone with the RMA department. Andy said they'd received my monitor (when I asked him), and after an awkward moment he said he would put the service manager on the phone. After a couple of minutes he comes on and he tells me (in very fractured English) that they are still on backorder. He said they expect them in next week. Now, they were supposed to come in on 3/16 or 3/17 (it wasn't clear), a next week arrival will push this out at least another 2 weeks from where it was supposed to be. I made no mention of this but asked him if they would email me when they do send it out. He turns and asks Andy if he has my email address and comes back and says they'll email me. I ask if they'll provide me with tracking info and he says yes. He didn't seem to care to speak to me, frankly, but I'm hopeful this will turn out OK. I figure it will, but I'm not happy that they aren't freely communicative.

I'll agree. Getting any information out of Andy is like pulling teeth. I get the very distinct impression that they are disorganized.

I ran home on my lunch break today and tried to get that damn base off. I called Andy again (he hadn't returned my original call...or maybe he did and I was out of my office..could be) and he told me how to get the base off. But his instructions were absolutely no help. I already knew I had to squeeze the tabs. What it came down to was brute strength. I was scared about breaking anything, but I gave it a good tug and it came free. I boxed it up and as I was set to return to work...the doorbell rang and it was the UPS guy. Incredibly lucking timing. I got a tracking number from him and you can be darn sure that the day it arrives in Wood Dale I will be calling Andy to ask if they have sent my replacement! The last time I talked with him, he said they would send another unit "as soon as we get your unit and confirm it has a bad pixel".

Keeping my fingers crossed. I sure do hope they get me a new unit quickly. I absolutely love the L90D+ (except for my one stuck pixel).

Hmm. What makes you think they have any new units to send you? They told me they get them "next week." The guy's English was so bad (the Service Manager) that I didn't feel certain what I was being told. Please post here what transpires. Maybe I'll call again tomorrow and ask Andy point blank if they have any new ones and if not when they will. He seems to answer the phone 1/2 the time, the other half of the time your voice mail messages go into a black hole and you never hear from them. The conversation I had with the "Service Manager" (he seemed to be nameless), left a pretty bad feeling of uncertainty.

Same with me man, the display on this thing is awesome but I got one bright green stuck pixel in the upper left section that I'm just going to deal with, not worth RMA'ing in my opinion but I wish it would go away someday when I wake up and turn it on. :(

Here's a suggestion that nutxo PM'd me awhile back. I haven't tried it, but I have heard others with success doing this:

I have a green pixel on my l90d+, I went to best buy and bought a belkin lcd cleaner kit, it has a chamois thing and some solutoin, wiping down the screen over the pixel a few times makes it go away for days at a time..

I don't know if this helps a dead pixel, but others have had success with stuck pixels (green on black background).
