okee dokey, here goes:
Now that I have it at home, I noticed one funky pixel. A blue one that only shows up when its neighbors are black. Pretty much not noticable unless I'm booting.
I played a game of Unreal 2k4 and I didn't see any perceivable ghosting.
I also tried 2 dvds and didn't see the "twinkling" effect that has been mentioned here and elsewhere. Perhaps its a driver issue, as others have said.
The speakers aren't too great, but what do you expect is gonna be built in... but, that's why I have a nice set of 5.1 speakers.
I did have a problem getting the base off when I was trying to box it back up to bring home. I didn't want to break it so i just left the base on. How often would people need to take the base off anyway.
The rotate effect is pretty cool, though at the moment, I don't know if it will be very useful. Perhaps if you are in college and writing a paper and wanna see the whole page at once or something, but those days are over for me :-/
Anyhow, I think this is a great monitor. My one pixel problem is negligable. If you have more, well I guess you get to talk to the famed Andy.

I'm pretty sure this is $361 shipped from chiefvalue.com, so that might be a better deal if people still want this. I'm highly interested.

As posted earlier, Andy was supposed to contact me when they sent out the display or were ready to. Never heard from him. Woke up this morning to a UPS sticker on my door saying they tried to deliver yesterday. If you get such a sticker with sender "Silverstar", that's your L90D+. I don't like this. I figure the longer it remains in the hands of UPS, the more times they throw it on a truck, throw it off, throw it in a warehouse, throw it back on a truck, etc. etc. the more apt it is to be screwed up.

My advice would be to call Andy constantly! They are totally remiss in not sending tracking numbers. Andy told me they'd do that. Didn't happen.

This looks like a great deal... but how's it compare against the Dell 1905FPs? I'll pay a little extra if it's a better monitor. I've gotten so used to my 19" LCD at work (but it's a crummier HP model).

(The Dell deals are lookin' pretty sweet right now...)

Well, I finally broke out my new replacement L90D+ (my first had bad backlighting anomalies) from the box and set it up. Received it almost 2 days ago but once burned twice shy, and I didn't want to put myself in a bad mood because I was doing my taxes.

Sure enough, there's a very noticeable "dead" pixel, always-on about 1/3 the way up from the bottom almost in the middle. To me it looks bright yellow. On any kind of a dark screen it looks like a bright yellow speck. What chances do I have of Hyundai RMAing this? Thanks for any replies on this.

Honestly, if I had to do it again I wouldn't buy this LCD even if I knew it was going to be flawless. My Planar PX191 19" LCD looks much better. Far better viewing angles and text just looks a lot sharper. Text is what I deal with 90+% of the time. I suppose this will have to be my 2nd display. The Planar has 25 ms response time, but so far I haven't gotten into gaming, so to me it's not an issue. Maybe it will be if I get into gaming but for everyday computing, the Planar is far superior. It cost quite a bit more, though, 1.5 years ago, and would cost a lot more even today.

I've had mine for about a month now and I love it. I mostly use my machine for gaming. UT, DOD, CS, TFC and I was thinking about the new builder bob stuff :)

At first I noticed a little ghosting/blurring in a FPS when I turned rapidly compared to my prior Iiyama 901 something which is the shiat for a crt but about the size of a fridge. Now I have adjusted and no longer even notice it...it took about 5 mins for me to adjust.

I like it, I recommend it.

Well, it's not so bad. After a few minutes of Googling, Anandtech, web-surfing I got absorbed in what I was doing. It's just when I fired it up that I sensed that it was different from my Planar, and the difference wasn't good. It's still a lot better than the CRT's I used to use.

Muse:

I got my replacement unit too (I called Andy just about every other day to find out when it was shipped and to get a tracking number - bottom line: you have to actively manage your RMA process).

It has one stuck pixel, but its location is not very noticeable (it's about an inch from the lower left hand corner). Much better than having one stuck right in the darn middle of the screen.

Still, I was hoping for no defects. I guess it's just my bad luck as there are many out there who claim no defects.

Mine's in a real bad place and with a dark background it just pops out at you. I just knew I'd have bad luck on this one.

I got another email finally, stating that they need me to submit and advance RMA form - apparently they F*CKING LOST the one I already faxed in two weeks ago with my credit card information on it. Andy is now ignoring me AGAIN.

What a joke, don't buy from this company.

That sucks. If you can, do what I did: Print their form, fill it out and fax it to them. I used my scanner to get an image of the document. Actually, I think I just attached the image to an email and didn't bother faxing it to them.

Is there a chance they will RMA my replacement monitor? I do a lot of video, especially TV using a MyHD HDTV card, and it sucks for that. That pixel, almost in the middle of the screen, 1/3 the way up, looks like a real bright speck of dust. At first that's exactly what I thought it was and I tried to remove it but then realized it was a bad pixel. :(

sorry to say but hyundai's comminication just plain sux. i give them some credit for taking back units with one dead pixel but their lack of any kind of follow up is unacceptable.

i emailed andy this weekend and heard back from him today regarding my eta for an advanced replacement.

1)"Eta Arrival time is thursday of this week."
- to which i ask how i should expect it, ups?
2) "Dear customer, go to UPS.com and track the number I gave you"
- to which i reply i have no tracking # from him. before i can answer i get this
3) "ETA arrival time is when the unit will arrive in our facility! Do not be mislead"
- asked for tracking again, yet to hear back.

my monitor developed a scaling gray band across the right hand side, 1/2 the panel, about 2 weeks after i got it. when i notified andy, everything looked like an easy rma but this has been a month now and of course i was "at the front of the line" to get a replacement"

Does anyone have a phone number for ebuyer.com? I just spoke with Andy and he quoted me a 5+ dead pixel policy. I said I understood that if there is a particularly bad dead pixel they will replace. He asked me where I bought the display and he said I should contact them and ship it back to them with all the original materials and they would "have to fund the money." I'm sort of doubtful of that, but if he says so, I imagine I should attempt to set that up. He said to contact them and then call him back.

I haven't seen a phone number for ebuyer but am aware that they have an online contact system where you leave text messages. I'll try that. I figure they'll refer me to HIQA, though.

You cannot communicate with Andy via email....I tried that and it did not work effectively. You MUST call him.....and regularly.

I honestly believe that Andy will take care of the people who keep on top of him via regular phone calls BEFORE those people who passively manage the situation via email.

JMHO.

Andy said I should contact my vendor (ebuyer) and get a refund. I contacted them and they replied by email that since it's now over 30 days since my order, they won't replace or refund and I should deal with the manufacturer. I called Andy again and told him it was really their fault that it's now over 30 days. They were supposed to send me the replacement by 3/16 or 3/17, but it didn't arrive until April, without explanation. He said that now, since the official policy is 5 or more problem pixels, I would have to get authorization from Hyundai and he gave me a name and direct number. I called this person and explained the situation in full and he quoted the official policy and my response was that a lot of times problem pixels are unnoticeable in normal usage (I had searched through most of this thread on the word "pixel" and determined that prior to making the call), but in my case it just jumps out at you on any kind of a dark screen, blue, red, black, etc. He said they'd replace the unit, and send a call tag for pickup and I should call Andy and get a new RMA number. Honestly, I'm happy with that. I'll take good service over fast service, I'm in no hurry. Dealing with Hyundai is much superior to dealing with Dell because I don't get shunted around and most of the time these guys answer the phone, you don't get a machine.

I will have all my fingers and toes crossed that the 3rd time is the charm and I get a display without flaws. A pixel problem I can only notice with my nose 6 inches from the screen I could live with. This one looks like Venus in the night sky, bright yellow. I've got to wonder how they QA'd the screen.

You shouldn't have any problems with darkness.

one more question, when buying something from tigerdirect, (though im buying from Canada), are all items new in original sealing? Because one angry customer said that they open up everything to make sure that all the parts are there, and i don't want to get a monitor someone else didnt want because of dead pixels

Just unboxed and set up and tested my 3rd L90D+. Bought from ebuyer.com, the first had very serious backlighting issues and I didn't bother dealing with ebuyer, but got an RMA from Hyundai, although it took over a month for them to get the 2nd to me. It had a particularly glaring stuck yellow pixel near the center of the screen and they consented to RMA it. I received the replacement for that late Friday afternoon, but didn't unbox it until today because I was already twice burned (and six times shy!) and didn't want to ruin my weekend.

So, how's this one? The first thing I noticed even before putting the display on the base is that the finish on the bezel is blotchy. I was hoping that it was dirt and would wash off, but it's not dirt. It looks kind of like a crappy job of spray painting, as if you'd put your fingers in the wet paint. It's on all four bezels, but the vertical ones are the worst. I was all but sure there would be issues with this one too, and sure enough there are. I wouldn't advise anybody buying this display or any from Hyundai until they get there act together, if ever. I don't know if I should complain about this or just suck it up and write it off to experience. Does anyone else have this problem with theirs?

Hmm, I guess there might be a problem... Can anybody speak to this? At first I had the L90D+ on the analog out from my ti4600, which my Planar on the DVI. That's how I figured I'm going to run this. The L90D+ had a moire pattern funning up the screen kind of like waves on water. I switched the displays (L90D+ on DVI and Planar on analog) and didn't see any moire. I had the L90D+ on analog and DVI (without the Planar) and either way, no moire. I switched back to L90D+ on analog and Planar on DVI, no moire. I figured that it had been a connection problem because I hadn't cinched down the connecting cable to the display. However, the moire just kicked in again suddenly. Does anyone know what might cause this or how I might prevent it? Thanks!

Edit: BTW, there's no better way to get a clear idea of how much better an LCD looks when on DVI than analog than to have two LCD's side by side (running Clone), one on DVI and the other on analog. Both displays do a lot better on DVI.
