Do you want to keep the slaves from 250 years ago too? Cause seeing all the racists in your party these days it's not too
Far-fetched

Slavery? WTF are you talking about?

You said you don't want to change the system from a couple hundred years ago. It's a dumb argument. For one thing well there was slavery back then. Makes your whole point useless.

Slavery is done away with via the constitution. Until such time our elective laws irt POTUS change, the electoral college remains in place. Until then, there's no conspiracy, just the law.

Deal with it.

Doesn't make it any better. You sound like a guy that would have told the anti slavers to go deal with it, it's in the constitution. Bigly sad.

Both of them won the popular vote and the electoral college!
Trump was not voted into office by a majority of the people!
Right. And popular vote means nothing in POTUS election. Civics 101. Trump and Bush won as fairly as Obama and Clinton.

So because your side didn't win, the system we've had in place for a couple hundred years in unfair?

lol

Go on tell me more.

lol
Not what I said. It's a system that didn't yield an anomalous result between 1888 & 2000. The electoral college & the popular vote yielded the same result. That's normal. Trump's win was very abby-normal yet he has proceeded as if he has some massive mandate. It's disrespectful & dishonest, not to mention utterly incompetent in a variety of ways, particularly pandemic response.

But, you go ahead, nurse that "Fuck you, Libtards" attitude while he's fucking us all. It'll get really ugly really fast in places where the Governors have shown him the proper devotion. If you're not completely horrified now you will be in a month. If the capacity to provide critical care is X and the number of people who need it to survive is 5X, then at least 4X will die. It works the same for any multiplier > 1.

Laws can, and sometimes should, be changed. If not, then darkies still would have their own drinking fountains and women wouldn't be voting (and I'm sure some feel these were unfortunate changes from when things were great....)

The Senate is broken, when states like Wyoming--and I live visiting Wyoming!--have so much power. The Senate was constructed the way it was to avoid giving all the power to populous states, but it's too far the other direction now.

Right now rural America has too much power just because they still live in the sticks, while the economy has more and more centered in the cities.

"Legally" is highly questionable, considering the interference from outside interests. Disregarding that however, and assuming the vote was legitimate, yes, it was "legal" under the current law. That does not mean the law written over 200 years ago should not be changed, or even that it was a fair system when it was implemented. Basically, the electoral college means every person's vote does not have an equal value, which would seem to me to be the prime definition of "unfair".

I wouldn’t pay attention to polls or predictions until late September. A lot of the election will depend on the then status of the virus, the then status of infection rates from schools reopening, the then status of infection rates from bars and restaurants remaining open, and the big unknown is how Donald Trump spins the reality of the virus as election time nears. Trump will try to convince people that the experts are lying, that the numbers are not true, that the virus itself poses minimal risk to people. The Trump re-election campaign will consist utterly of falsehoods and conspiracy theories about the virus, and Trump will have plenty of help pushing those misconceptions, Fox News. Trump hopes to win re-election with lies and attacking the experts, and it just might work. The problem, the Trump base remains solid and loyal while Joe Biden doesn’t really have a base to speak of. Donald Trump can rely on his base to turn out but Joe Biden must rely on enough Trump haters to turn out. Those Trump haters “might” turn out for Joe Biden, or...... they might just stay home pissed off at Donald Trump but not motivated enough for Joe Biden. History shows us that when the voters are unhappy or mad they simply stay home. I think a lot of never Trump’ers will simply stay home.

This certainly will be the strategy. The attempt to discredit Fauci is already hitting a fever pitch. There will also be a huge push to get some sort of vaccine approved by the election. Not to mention Biden has to at least appear competent during the debates. As you said, that is the danger of putting too much stock in the polls. Some may disapprove of Trump, but will they turn out and vote for Biden? They may not. But you can be sure the 35% base of Trump's will turn out in full force.

Trump can't spin his way out of this. Rona gonna go wild in a lot of places. It'll overwhelm the hospital systems in several Trump compliant states. They have no idea what they're dealing with. Totally clueless. It spills over on the rest of us, too.

He's fucked over a lot of other things where he's alienated voters left & right. Lots of people are just sick of his shit & won't pass up the opportunity to repudiate the crazy son of a bitch. Won't even have to pay attention to it when he's not Prez. Everybody knows there's only one way to get there. Vote Biden.

Fapping on that "Senile Joe" innuendo again? So tedious. You know it's not true.

Joe's problem is that he speaks loose...he has the last few years. So when he's being put on the spot to talk, he gets basic words jumbled up. I actually saw a few YouTube ads come up in recent weeks that made him sound loopy. I'm not sure if isolation kept him from doing more takes, but if I were running the camera, I would have said.... "FROM THE TOP!"

I think it's worse when he's not well rested on the campaign trail. I know I'd be delirious doing what those guys have to do when on the road like that....and I'm not in my 70's.

But red necks like that only represent like 30% of the voting population. Trumpity Dumpity lost the rest of the voting population. So outside some extreme voter suppression, 2016 won’t repeat.

Your problem is listening to the Bullshit about Joe rather than listening to Joe.

You don't think Trump & Fiends won't be pulling out all the stops to win this?

Yes they will. The question is, will it work? The thing about republican voter suppression is it rests on people's lack of motivation to go around obstacles they put up.

There's a good chance we are going to see record turnout this year, regardless of COVID, regardless of GOP voter suppression tactics.

"Anti-Trump" is a fired up base right now, and I don't see that changing between now and November. His behavior is so extreme that he virtually guarantees high turnout on both sides.

I think a lot of former Trump voters won't do it again. The damned fool betrayed the country's most potent voting bloc, seniors, and will suffer their understandable ire. The crazy son of a bitch is trying to get them killed. He's blown it irretrievably over the pandemic.
