I wouldn’t pay attention to polls or predictions until late September. A lot of the election will depend on the then status of the virus, the then status of infection rates from schools reopening, the then status of infection rates from bars and restaurants remaining open, and the big unknown is how Donald Trump spins the reality of the virus as election time nears. Trump will try to convince people that the experts are lying, that the numbers are not true, that the virus itself poses minimal risk to people. The Trump re-election campaign will consist utterly of falsehoods and conspiracy theories about the virus, and Trump will have plenty of help pushing those misconceptions, Fox News. Trump hopes to win re-election with lies and attacking the experts, and it just might work. The problem, the Trump base remains solid and loyal while Joe Biden doesn’t really have a base to speak of. Donald Trump can rely on his base to turn out but Joe Biden must rely on enough Trump haters to turn out. Those Trump haters “might” turn out for Joe Biden, or...... they might just stay home pissed off at Donald Trump but not motivated enough for Joe Biden. History shows us that when the voters are unhappy or mad they simply stay home. I think a lot of never Trump’ers will simply stay home.
