bigger problem: the $30 rebate cant be for more than the purchase amount. ie mine got split into 2 orders, and the MP3 ends up costing $26 after coupon......... that may suck.

Yeah, I got two e-mail reciepts and when I checked "my orders" it had two open orders, one for markers, one for the mp3 player.

Hopefully it will work out.

Since i'm outside their local zones according to the website, I called to ask about shipping. They have no idea, they keep saying it's whatever UPS charges them. They at least tell you it's a $10 minimum. Hot deal even with the extra charge but I'm not going to order from them without knowing total. Sheesh. If I didn't have so much money in rebates, perhaps I'd breakdown and order :)

Here's a review of the player: MacAddict, March 2001

I'd be a little wary of this thing -- not because of the MacInToy problems encountered in the article -- but because of the poor quality and iffy nature of the $30 rebate. If you don't get the $30 rebate, then you potentially have to spend $40 (OD price) - $15 (coupon) + s/h + tax = $25+ on something you'll never really use. However, I totally agree with someone who said that it would make a good gift for a kid.

My nephew is only 5 and a half years old, so he probably doesn't care about cheap MP3 players, though. Maybe if it had Power Rangers on it or something...

you misunderstood that statement:
rebate will not be valid if the purchase price of the mp3 player is less than $30.00.The purchase price in this case is 39.99.The $15.00 coupon was specific to retailer.

The order reads:
652081 each Jam P3? Player $39.99
SubTotal: $39.99
Tax: $1.25
Delivery: $0.00
Misc.: -$15.00
Total: $26.24

Hope this helps !!

..Box 52900, Phonix,AZ Continental Promation Group..CPG...I,ve had trouble with them on 100% legal up and up rebates..they look for any reason to reject...including it must have got lost in the mail..keep good records and scan everything..on a BB rebate that thosands of people must have sent in, they wanted me to send another copy of orginal rebate as they said they couldn,t find that rebate coupon...also that rebate says not valid with any other offer or rebate..and you can bet they count retailer rebates..I got a Jam3 free with ATI card, its junk, just hope you don,t have to pay for it..

I read bad things about the JaMP3 player from a couple of review articles as well. Hopefully, it'll be okay while I'm working out. I'd hate to break an expensive Nomad or Rio while I'm at the gym or just jogging.

Btw, there are a few other free after rebate items if you don't want a bunch of Sharpies. The same rebate slips list a bunch of other pens.
SKU#
120642 $1.49 Pentel RSVP pens
502740 $1.49 Pentel RSVP pens
120667 $1.49 Pentel RSVP pens
643858 $1.49 Pentel RSVP pens
120659 $1.49 Pentel RSVP pens
447801 $1.49 Pentel RSVP pens
548909 $3.99 Papermate Flexgrip pens

There's a limit of 3 pen rebates, so you still need to get a pack of Sharpie's to be over $50.

$20 off $75 link is gone.. OfficeDepot have taken it off. IT was still working this AM. :|
since I didnt know where to put the coupon code when I placed the order earlier, I called OfficeDepot 800-937-3600 x83028 after I place the order in fear that the item would be gone. The CSR applied the credit of $15 off $50. :)
The CSR said coupon codes are electronic so I wasnt able to "INPUT" the code like I have @ Staples.com. I have to either call it in or use the link that was sent to me.

Called up a CSR and cancelled the order !!!
Too much trouble for a "not so good" mp3 player esp. after reading the reviews and potential problems with rebate.

This one is going down like an asteroid.

CANCELL !! CANCELL !! CANCELL !!

Thanks for posting this! I just ordered it for pickup at my local store.

BTW it appears that all of the > $3 pens are out of stock for "third party delivery", with the exception of the Sharpies listed here. If you tell it you want to pick your order up at your local store, you may have better luck finding other pens to order. When I told it to set up the order for pickup (which was not simple since it would not let me do so until I put $50 in my basket so it would not compain about the coupon not being valid because I had not ordered $50), it seemed that all of the pen varieties were available for ordering, as was the JAMP3.

I would not worry about that wording about the price not being less than the rebate on their rebate form. I called CPG (their rebate fulfiller) about the same wording on another of the KB Gear/Jam coupons. The rep looked up the rebate rules in her computer and found no such language, which meant that they would not complain about a $15 rebate on the $14.99 JamIt. In any event, in this case the receipt will show $39.99 so it's definitely not a problem.

BTW, I have not have any unsolvable problems with CPG (not CMP as someone else called them). They online tracking system is nonexistant, but they do pay their rebates, and I have found them very easy to work with over the phone on the off-chance that something gets rejected. Heck, in a couple of cases they entered missing rebates for me over the phone with NO proof that I had bought the item! Far better than Parago (Coppell, TX) in my book!

OK.. so how did you get it to apply the $15 coupon on an order less than $50? Good to see that OD does not charge tax on the coupon value!

This won't work hasn't anyone read the coupon??? "Not valied if rebate amount exceeds the retail or e-tail purchase price", means no matter how you order from Office Depot the most expensive item always comes out discounted, making the purchase price for the MP3 Player $26 (I've tried ordering the pens first and switching it around but it always discounts the MP3 player) making the purchase price LESS than the rebate, thus the rebate EXCEEDS the purchase price making the rebate invalied. I don't think there's anyway around this one unless you just buy the MP3 and do the rebate, end up with a $12.00 MP3 player.

Two things.

For our future reference, could you edit your post or submit a new one with their phone number (or is it just on their rebate forms)?

(Coppell, TX) - I only know that as Staple's rebate center. You have some nuggets of info / misery to share / warn about Parago???

TIA!!

Read my earlier post -- Tuesday, June 19, 2001 5:31 PM. They do not care about the "price lower than rebate", it is not in the online rules they use when they process the rebate (at least it was not in the one for the JamIt -- call the number on the form, tell it it's more than 8 weeks, look up a rebate, and then you can push 0 and speak to a real person). Also, where are you seeing the $15 taken right off the price of the JAMP3? On my OD receipt, it comes off the total at the end, not off any individual item.

I generally just use the one on the form. If you tell it your rebate is submitted > 8 weeks ago, it lets you enter your name and zip code and looks up rebates. After that you can push 0 for more assistance, and depending on the rebate (and presumably how much they have paid CPG for processing their rebates), it will either take your phone number for a later callback, or it will transfer you to a real live person. The phone number on the JAM forms takes you to a live person and you can ask them about any rebate that has been sent to their company. I do actually have a separate number for CPG which goes right to a live person (or at least the queue to talk to one) but I would rather not post it on a public board for fear that it will get too much use and be disconnected and then I will have to find a new number to call them on.

Parago does rebates for Staples, but they are not owned by Staples. Sadly they seem to be the main rebate house these days, I say sad because they pay very slowly, it seems. And unlike CPG, where if you call about a "stuck" rebate they seem to be able to free it up, when you call Parago about a late rebate they just tell you that it will be issued within 30 days, even when they know they are lying through their teeth.

my order detail shows the mp3 player at 39.99 which is over $30 so that should be ok.

agree to Parago/Rebates HQ to sucking. Two different IBM webcam rebates suck processing since January and keep getting the run around that they will be issued soon.
