First called B.1.1.529, was named the Omicron variant of Covid-19

I'm increasingly pessimistic on even the oral antivirals since most vaccine refusers will still wait too long to seek them. I read countless stories of sick people who finally go to the hospital and it's too late for monoclonal infusion.

That's the American healthcare system. People would rather risk death than take on bankruptcy and homelessness.
We are conditioned to avoid healthcare until it is absolutely necessary.

My impression is that they just don't take it seriously until their symptoms become sufficiently concerning. They certainly still do show up at the hospital then.

When it comes to Covid i see most doctors taking talking point from FDA/CDC etc.

"I aRe sMaRt! I aRe mUch smArtEr thEn bRiAnwAsHeD dOcToRs wHo ArE dUpEd aNd OnLy rEpEaT whAt gUbeRmeNt tEll tHeM to!

I aAe so sMaRt!!!"

Doctors don't take "talking points" from government agencies. They follow the consensus of SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE and experts in the given field.

You're beginning to sound exactly like an anti-vaxxer. They believe doctors are either all together in a conspiracy or stupid and duped.

JFC.

When it comes to Covid i see most doctors taking talking point from FDA/CDC etc. I am fully aware what is official recommendation is about the booster and that all adults 18+ should get the booster. With that being said, i am not willing to continue getting vaccinated at least not at this time. I waited until Delta became the major threat before i decided to get vaccinated and i will wait and see what Omicron will bring before i make any forward moves to get a booster. As society we are not going to get ride of Covid by vaccinating, it's not realistic. At this point the only thing that will bring complete normality is new treatment.
Have you also decided that you will not put on a seatbelt until you see a car about to crash into you? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

And, no we might not be able to get rid COVID by vaccination alone any longer, but the vaccine does improve the outcome for individuals, but only if they have already taken it weeks or months before they are exposed to it. This virus can kill. Why would you choose to put yourself in the higher risk category? What sense does that make? What purpose does it serve?

You have a right to your opinion and I have a right to my
And literally no one cares.

Of course, everyone has the right to their opinions. However, what no one has is a right to have their opinions free from criticism, which is what you're insisting on.

Now, if you don't mind, my opinion is that I should get my medical advice from my doctor, and not from politicians, or the media, and certainly not from randos on the internet. Criticize that as you wish.

If i didn't want criticism i would not post on social media. I am very open to it, that do not mean i will change my opinion as result of it.

Just a lol.

The question is, then, what was the point of your previous comment? Resorting to "You have a right to your opinion and I have a right to mine" is like the lowest-common-denominator of any discussion. It says literally nothing relevant to a discussion about the validity or truth-value of that opinion. It's just a space-filler.

Just sent another covid patient to the icu. Family had symptoms. This patient developed altered mentation. Started out with only a couple liters of O2. Started the right treatments, neurology involved.

Shortly after admission they go from 2L to intubation. EEG showed seizures.

This is covid induced encephalopathy with epilepsy. If this person recovers they are likely to have severe neurological deficits. Likely will get a feeding tube and trach. Otherwise, the person is perfectly healthy.

Invariably, the answer I get from loved ones, "I didn't know this would happen." But hey, they did "their" research.
It sounds like this individual was not vaccinated. The stories are pretty heartbreaking where people are admitted to the hospital after ‘doing their own research’, desperate for the vaccine that’s the result of real research, only to find out it’s too late.

It's sad and incredibly frustrating because they now put intense pressure on nurses and doctors to do everything to save their loved one. Almost like they are trying to make up for their mistake.

I can only imagine how hard it is to bite your tongue when the person who wouldn’t lift a finger to help themselves demands you move heaven and earth to help them.

So you have went the religious route. You are now basing your medical decisions on faith, not fact.
Once you decide that your 'opinion' is immune to facts or reason, you are no longer in the domain of science.
I am not religious at all , i consider myself atheist . My decision not to get vaccinated got absolutely nothing to do with religion

As DHT says, you may not be religious but your rejection of facts and science isn't much different.

I get it, you value your tribal identity very highly and your tribe says getting vaccinated is bad. If you value it more than your own health and safety that's fine but I don't see why you have to pretend it's something else.

I honestly don't care about my "tribal identity",i can't stand Trump and Foxnews. I can't stand to Foxnews on how natural immunity is much better compare to getting vaccinated etc. With that being said, i also do not see the urgency at this point in getting a booster.

Tribal identity doesn't mean you love Trump, you clearly align with a larger conservative tribal identity that is anti-vaccine. People don't like to admit they are motivated by tribal affiliations but we all are, and in this case it's causing you to reject science and put your own health in danger for no reason.

You're not going to admit that tribalism is what's pushing you do do this, I'm sure you'll continue to claim it's because you've 'done your own research', which largely amounts to talking to other people in your tribe.

If you, like most people, got their second dose >6mo ago, you're effectively unvaccinated at this time.
