I haven't read the whole thread, but why doesn't the Pakistani military do something about it if they don't want us cleaning up the scum for them? If they want sovereignty, they need to prove that they can handle it. They have nukes, so they must have some sort of army that can take care of these assholes on their land.
IMO these strikes are good; they're not in heavily populated areas, just places where terrorist assholes hide out.

Huh? They're not going to be using drones any time soon, unless China/Russia/Iran ramp up on their tech supplying. They would need sophisticated installations with trained pilots, runways, information systems, fuel, laser guided weapons/systems - all that stuff. Right now they're just a bunch of assholes running around spraying AK-47s, making homemade bombs, and hijacking planes.

Also, for anyone who is surprised by this, you really should have paid attention during the campaigns -- shame on you! Obama was hawkish on Pakistan the entire time, which is actually one of the primary reasons I voted for him.

Your retards are no match for the monkeys we have sitting in the presidential office. Cowardly idiots. They are doing nothing in Swat! They're giving in to Indian pressure! They're letting America conduct raids in the country. What they should do is 1 get the heavy weapons to swat and crush the insurgency. 2 They should fire back at American drones who violate our airspace. 3 They should deploy nuclear warheads and point them to New Delhi and tell them to shut up.
1. It's ridiculous that the taliban have almost total control over Swat district. Why are there no Pakistani tanks and helicopters deployed there? They should hang all taliban for high treason.
2. Even if America can win a war against Pakistan in days there is no way they want to start one with the position they're in. No money and bogged down in America. IF IF they destroy our military and secure our nukes then decide to leave you'll have a much larger terrorist threat here than today. You have no money for an occupation. You can't afford war. And in the case you are unable to secure our nukes we will use them.
3. WTF is wrong with India rattling their sabers? I say we should tell them that enough is enough. If you attack us be prepared.
And American presidents are just puppets. The real power is with the lobbies.

America does not want to fight any war with Pakistan. All we care about is the total destruction of the terrorists who are living -- seemingly unmolested -- all over your soil. Get rid of the terrorists, keep them out, and we'll never look your way again. The rest of your country, your people, and even your nukes, are safe -- but only if you get rid of the terrorists.
I'd say that both countries are guilty of saber rattling, just as your own post demonstrates. The nukes have made both parties very cocky and very stupid.
I think it's a bit disingenuous to claim that the recent strikes were part of Obama's policy. He's only been in office a few days, less than a week, and he's been, uhh, kinda busy. At this point, the military is pretty much operating under Bush Admin directives.

The things we haven't seen (or haven't heard about) are coordinated efforts by beloved patriot and Nato forces- where one party flushes out insurgents, drives them across the border, where the other's forces are waiting to receive them...
And we'll just be getting nowhere fast if the Afghan govt continues down the path of corruption so readily tolerated by the Bush Admin-

The President has to personally authorize each and every strike on the Pakistani side of the border; so to claim that Obama's attribution for this particular strike is "disingenuous," is wrong.
Obama himself authorized this strike, and I commend him for it. This is exactly what he said he would do, and it's exactly what needs to be done.
Sounds great... now all you have to do is convince the Pakistani government to play along. We've been trying to do so for more than eight years! Perhaps Obama can change that, perhaps not.. but the onus is still on Pakistan to step up to the plate and cooperate fully with NATO's efforts to root out the Taliban and smash them.
I agree that the corruption and broken systems of government must be fixed ASAP. Perhaps, if we're lucky, Obama and Petreaus can work together with Karzai to make that happen...

Nice debate. I couldn't help but read some maybe thought the use of drones is a good thing . I think your gone way to far off to getting back to reality. Murder by drone is cold and cowardice. I will tell right now in the world today there is only one government I fear having those capabilities.

Actually killing by drones is the future of warfare, and is a technology that must be further advanced. I can't wait for the day when we can send in millions of killing machines to wipe out entire regions. It would prevent deaths on our side while maximizing the slaughter on the enemies side. This would truly be a thing to fear. It will be wonderful.

The military may well be acting under orders from the previous president which remain in force unless rescinded by the new CinC.
