This was Chris Ray?s Private Message on the Nvidia Forums to me?

You have a new personal message from ChrisRay
Stop returning to the forums.
Stop coming back to these forums. You are not welcome on them.
From what Chris has said there it sounds to me like you have previously caused trouble on the forums under a different username. That would also explain your not being able to even read the forums now.

if you want RTM and whatnot...dont get betas, and dont install Vista (even as MSDN) before it's available retail.

We all know that Vista IS ready and is available...but still we have a few days to go 'til its up in the stores...and i would give them some leeway and AT LEAST wait 'til the retail Vista is out and then complain about drivers in beta.

they (NV) dont have a responsilbility to provide 100% ready drivers to MSDN developers (!) and beta testers..however the retail customer then is where the focus might be....maybe they just fixing bugs and let things mature.

Emm Vista is no longer in beta stage fool. I thought people actually understood that?

Microsoft has stated time and time again that the OS will not change in any shape or form even at the end of Jan which then you can buy it at Best Buy or some crap. Any person can buy the damn OS if they wanted to right now if they checked hard enough.

It is released to quite a few business companies already, so I do not understand your logic.

It has been released to large corporations and what not. It has not been released to the general public.

Furthermore, why in the hell would they need Geforce 8 series drivers for a corporate workstation environment?? Last I recall, corporations do not need bleeding edge gaming hardware -_-

The big secret is that ... Vista IS NOT YET RELEASED.

How hard is it to understand this simple fact? Only Vista business has been released offically and only those who are using the business version should be the ones complaining.(i doubt companies buying 8800 series cards for office/paper work though unless most of them decides to play games instead of working)

NVIDIA has already promsied to release the Vista drivers for 8800 series on Jan 30th when Vista becomes available to consumers. Its offical.

Plus how can you have legitimate copies of Vista when its not even available on shelfs (unless its a business version where i dont think many will be using a 8800 series for office/paper works)? RC1/RC2 arent the real versions.

Chris Ray wouldnt have banned you unless he had a good clear reason to do so.

Your full of it Cookie Monster... I live in Australia and the Major Computer Retailer have Windows Vista Ultimate and Business instock right now. Buyable !!

Though normally I wouldnt reply to something like this. I feel obligated too. This user has been banned almost 10x. I very rarely slap a perma ban on people on the nzone forums. My bans are usually 1-2 weeks to allow people to cool there heads off. At the Nvidia forums I am simply an administrator who doesnt make the rules. I have to enforce them.

This guy has come back under multiple forum aliases in the last 2 months. Claiming he would make "Nvidia and the Staff admin at Nzone Pay". He has impersonated me and other staff on several forums trying to use our "message" as a way to discredit Nvidia. Here are some examples of his poor impersonations on other forums. He can "pretend" to be innocent all he likes. But with the help of multiple forum administrators I have found out just who this guy is and where he is coming from. And all it takes is a little tracing on my part to verify his identity. Now if he PMS me here and can convince me that this is in error. Then I will remove the ban. But very unlikely considering my past experience with this user.

The reason this guy was banned was not for his message. But for his continued conduct on the forum. As I mentioned most of my bans are usually 1-2 weeks to allow people to cool there heads and come back. In this case the user has been a problem for some time now. To this user its simply a game to cause trouble and stir it up all over the internet. Its very little surprise he came here and posted this. To be very frank. Its people like this guy who cloud the issue for the legitimate users who want VISTA drivers. Making the situation worse for everyone.

So why would anyone go to nzone forums and expect anything other than basic support and viral marketing?

So you can say with 100% assurance that there are absolutely NO companies out there right now that would have any reason to run an 8800 in Vista?

Bull.

I don't see any posts in there with terpsy's name on them, or his style of posting.

Read the thread I linked carefully avalon. According to what ChrisRay has told us in his post above, terpsi is the "person" who has been impersonating ChrisRay on multiple forums, trying to blacken nvidia's name (amongst other "endeavours").

EDIT: linked wrong thread by accident Text

I agree. An accusation like that should be a lot better supported.

I find it ironic that they're banning people for registering under multiple accounts when one of the Moderators (Brian_S) is none other than Rollo who has been banned twice from the AnandTech forums. The second time was for creating the account Fallenangell after being banned the first time.

But I guess it's okay if HE does it.

I am perfectly willing to listen to this individual and hear his complaints. But I have been fooled by this user one too many times and my patience regarding this issue is quite thin.

((Example))

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=22016&hl=chrisray

Especially considering the trouble I've had. If this is a case of mistaken identity then I am not above admitting I am wrong. But I need evidence to that. And strong evidence of it too. I am not about to start posting IPS and posting origins on a public message board because I am more respectful than that.((just because you post behind a proxy does not mean you cannot be traced) However I would be happy to go over this with him. I will even lift the suspension on his account at nzone to just a posting restriction on his account so he can communicate with me in PM.

Considering the nature of this issue. I would prefer it be handled privately though. Which I think is more than reasonable considering the volatile nature of the situation and my dubious outlook on it. But in the end. His ban had nothing to do with the nature of what he posted. This will be my last post on this board regarding this issue with the exception that if I do happen to turn out to be wrong. Then I will apologize for it.

Of course creig - Rollo was absolutely notorious for running around different forums posing as Digital Wanderer or WaltC or RobertR1 or Bouncing Zabaglione Bros. and slagging off Ati in their name, wasn't he?

Oh wait...

I seriously wonder how you have managed not to get yourself banned yet.

It sounds like you have some pretty solid proof that this individual has deliberately gone out of his way to impersonate you and tarnish your reputation. I don't know if I could be as forgiving as you in this case.

Good job.

Bull.

Not with 100% certainty as I don't have access, nor would I ever need access, to purchase records.

Like I said, Vista is available to Major Corporations, Enterprise Computers and what not. None of which will have any need for an 8800.

Take a look at the US government for example. They are still using a heavily stripped down version of Windows 2000! Granted contractors and the like will likely be much farther ahead than our government, but the point remains, these corporations, in all likelihood will have no need for a bleeding edge gaming Video Card.
