I kind of feel your pain. I feel like I'm dragging my guild down a bit, because I'm the worst geared in the guild. :| I'm only a sub though, so the stuff that I need tends to drop when I'm not around. We've had the Matrix Restabilizer and Heroic Gatecrasher go to off-spec. :|

I'm sitting around 75K between my toons, no real desire to grind any more but I easily have around 50K in mats I do need to process before their value drops.

25 man solves those kinds of loot problems for the most part, just saying. ;) We have had really good loot distribution on token drops with 1-1-1 or 1-2-0 spreads every week.

I'm kinda hoping Blizzard retreats on the 10-man/25-man shared lockouts and shared loot.

I'm not really a fan of 10-man raiding, but as soon as Cat hit, my guild immediately broke down into the clique of hardcore 10-man raiders and everyone else who are just hanging out to have the benefits of being in a level-25 guild.

I decided to play my warrior some more, because I ran out of level 85 characters to buy the JP boots for. :p He's prot at the moment, which seems fine for leveling, but I decided to make a DPS spec for kicks. I thought I'd try fury, but I don't think I'll end up liking it. I originally made a warrior because I loved zipping around using charge, and you don't really get the luxury of charging often in fury (given you want to be in Berserker stance which doesn't support charge). You can always stance dance, but you also can't charge in combat. :|

I might end up going back to arms. I've been arms ever since I created the character way back in vanilla!

These sell for 150g each on my server. :\ My priest only has about 15 of them on him right now too, which worries me since his Maelstrom Crystal count is actually higher. :p

I don't remember as it's been a while, but I think I remember that I could charge mobs by using intercept initially if I had enough rage left over from a previous mob or after a battle shout. I distinctly remember being a fury warrior and doing this almost ad nauseam in fury stance. I'm pretty sure I never used the normal stance ever if I was doing melee on my warrior.

Intercept is only usable in Berserker Stance, so that's correct. Although, as a Prot Warrior, you can use any distance closer (Intervene, Intercept and Charge) in Defensive Stance and in combat (Charge normally cannot be). I usually preferred Charge for its rage generation rather than losing rage... especially if I didn't have a lot already. :(

I'm mostly just leveling as prot though. I sat there pulling around 6+ mobs at a time last night, which only sucked if the mobs weren't normal spawns, which means I don't get Victory Rush (a good ~15k HP heal).

I've just been unlucky when it comes to my shoulders. I never had a chance to get them when they were doing Majordomo on normal, and I prefer not taking gear over a normal raider. So, I tend to pass if they drop on heroic and someone needs them. Although, I think no one needs them now. :p

I actually passed on heroic Maiden's Kiss and heroic Super-Awesome-Imba-Cape-off-Rhyolith last night. I'd really like to upgrade my own items, but I don't see it being as worthwhile on a guild level. :\

We have tried going to 25 but it is hard finding quality people. So, we are stuck in what I view as 10 man hell with crap loot drops.

so i pretty much stopped playing back in may. i came back for a few hours here and there to help a friend who wanted to RAF a toon, but we never even got higher than lvl 44.
sometimes i think of all the time i spent playing and all the stuff i did and i feel like i made such an investment, i should be playing these characters i worked so much to level up. then i hop on and play and im like....hmmm. nothing to do.

have others here who have taken breaks and come back to the game felt a sense of newness to the game that i'm just missing? or are you like me, and just playing it because you know it. im mostly just curious. i certainly dont have the drive and desire to play like i once did, but sometimes i just feel like doing a random few quests on a lowbie or something. im just thinking out loud i guess while trying to decide if a few hours here and there is worth renewing my sub.

I thought about coming back so a couple months ago I posted on my guild forum and re-upped my sub and one Saturday morning I hopped in and ran a few heroics and BG's. I did BG's for 3 weeks until I got every piece of equipment I could, then I realized that I liked maybe 3 people in my guild and why the hell did I come back I don't want to raid with these idiots. So I cancelled again and have no intention of coming back.

The problem with the game now is they've taken class identity to an absolutely retarded level where everyone can do everything. Paladins have a fucking CC. Paladins. And since they removed world PvP by way of flying mounts, there's no danger anywhere. It couldn't feel less real or less dangerous or exciting.

In their quest to make the game digestible and playable for literally anyone with a heartbeat, they've removed all the fun out of it.

Rift was pretty cool. I may end up going back to that for a bit, the problem there was the PvP. The Defiants steamrolled probably 98% of the time. Couldn't figure that out.

I played EQ for 5 years and have been with WoW for 7, but I can say for certain that unless they implement some sort of hardcore oldschool server I won't come back.

o_O Repentance has been in the game for quite a long time, and it's still Retribution only. Although, I think it's one of the new abilities that will be available to all specs through the new Mists of Pandaria talent system. I'm actually a pretty big fan of that as I feel much more worthwhile in a PUG when I can simply do what needs to be done.

I talked about it before, but there's maybe 5-10% of PUG people that don't really need direction at all, and they're wonderful to play with. If I could at least CC a target myself, that takes down the necessity to bark one more set of orders to people that are too busy mining for gold in their nasal cavity.

have others here who have taken breaks and come back to the game felt a sense of newness to the game that i'm just missing?

I usually take breaks with the game, but I typically end up coming back for whatever reason. For probably around 2 months or so, I was only logging on to raid, and that was only when my guild needed me (I'm a sub, so not that much). I decided that I wanted to start working on my rogue, because my guild doesn't have a raiding rogue.

That decision to work on my rogue sort of rekindled my desire to play again, which I'd say is borderline obsessive compulsive. I even told myself that I'd stop leveling my Warrior at one point last night, and I ended up going back on to finish Deepholm... just because I hate leaving something unfinished. But yeah... after picking up my rogue, I also started tanking on my Paladin and working on my Warrior. I'll most likely level more characters from 80 to 85 until I get bored again.

I'm also waiting for 4.3 to see how ridiculously fast Northrend leveling will be. My second Paladin has all heirlooms (but the rings), he gets the guild bonus and they're reducing experience required by 30%!

I quit for about a year towards the end of Wrath up until a few weeks ago... I've been enjoying the game a lot more now.

one thing is that since I'm so far behind and now I'd never be able to raid in Cat (even if doing so wouldn't destroy my social life), I can just relax and have fun. I leveled my rogue to 85, knocked around in some heroics, and I'm just screwing around on alts while catching up on my Hulu (gogo dual monitors)

Anyone else see massive exploiting coming from the warlock burning embers thing?

Casting Incinerate on an immolated target builds up Infernal Embers, which increase the power of your next single Conflagrate or Soul Fire by 10% each. That ability uses all of the embers you have. As you generate more and more embers, your character slowly ignites, until you're basically a walking torch. Infernal Embers currently have no cap, but we'll likely add one before Mists ships.

Whats stopping some dude from just stacking the crap out of these (for days perhaps) before a raid and just nuking the boss for half its health?

Similar to Rage, Holy Power and Runic Power, it will probably fade away over time. I'm assuming it will be handled similar to Shadow Orbs (which will also be uncapped), which are a buff that increases, but only has a somewhat limited duration.

Don't worry... I doubt we will be having any more Reck Bomb Kazzak kills.

Someone with a fast enough connection and ssd could sit on a test dummy and spam incinerate, wait for raid summon, and start the fight within the 10-15s it would take to lose the buff. If its possible, people like me would figure it out and do it. But I dont play anymore so someone else can do it.

Eh... the chances of even that working are pretty slim at best. The only way I could see it happening is if you get summoned, they pull the boss within range of your summon point, you wait 5s to drop combat, hit the summon, pray you load fast enough, spam the button... winning?

... or they'll just make the buff clear on instance transition. :)

they said they're going to cap it, I can't imagine the cap being so high that it could potentially 1-shot a boss.

This tier is making me seriously consider canceling my account as it has become that awful.

It's always hard to please those who don't get the loot they want :(

I run my own guild, so maybe it's because of that I always find refreshing things to do (got to satisfy others.) From taking a group of people for achievements to the now popular Transmorg thing where everyone is making lists and the guild is helping each other get them.

Of course, I get those "what about me" members. The ones who aren't happy with progression - we're 6/7 25man (15 active guildies + 4 static pugs + whatever trade has) and 7/7 10man (all active guild raiders have 7/7). Sure, we don't have HMs under our belt - but our guild is a casual 2-day a week raiding guild who deviated to try to get the legendary (almost there!)

I tell those members "find something better, it won't offend me (or the guild) and basically might make things better for us that you stop whinning in guild chat."

I finally rolled a horde toon, turns out this mentallity of "grass greener on the otherside" I've heard is beyond make-believe. Haha. The part I find the most amusing - I seemed to join a Horde Guild that had the same issues my Guild just overcame.

The shared lock outs is a blessing to me. Before I felt I had to do 25mans to stay "competitive" with some of my peers. I was doing 10+25 mans on 5 toons (out of boredom I guess) and now I've eased up. I got 7/7 on three toons, and am happily grinding my alts away.

It isn't about me, it is about the guild. I turned down GM and RL spots. I am an officer in a 10 man guild that has two paladins, two priests and a warlock raiding consistently and we have a severe lack of conq tokens. We are watching other classes get off-spec tier gear before any conq wearers get their main piece.

Ten man loot system is a joke and hinders progression. When we got into FL we were DEing half the drops as they were either bad or had no use for them. 25 man raids gear up faster and DE a large percent less of items than a 10 does when starting out.

FL is an AWFUL tier. The loot system is absolutely pathetic for numerous classes. Progression is easy through the place, even before the nerf we were 6/7 and getting to phase 3 of Rag.

The first tier of raiding this expansion had 12 bosses, fun fights, plenty of stuff to go around and challenging at spots. The nest tier has eight fights with Deathwing counting as two of them. I don't know how long I will deal with it if it is as bad as FL has been.

We apparently get massive amounts of conqueror pieces except for the helm. :p I think we had our first conqueror helm token drop on Wednesday, but every other token drop was either vanquisher or conqueror. :(

I don't know what to say, frankly it all boils down to luck I guess. Tier 11 I geared up my Resto Shaman pretty fast with 4PC bonus in no time. My paladin never saw 4pc, and my Hunter started late, but had 4PC bonus before the end of the week (Chest from JP, lucky in BH10 gloves+pants, and shoulders from Cho'Gall). In T12, my Paladin has 4pc bonus on MS and OS, and my Shaman has more OS gear than MS with my hunter again last in still wearing majority 359 gear.

They buffed the bajeebies out of 25man. In doing 25man WOTLK achievements - I forgot they only dropped 3 pieces of loot. Woof. Least now they drop 5 pieces.

In my 25man we still D/E a shit ton of stuff, my guild mostly geared up from the 2-10mans I was running before I turned it into a 25man. Now it seems I'm just gearing up the pugs from trade haha. If it weren't for the cinder/ember drop differences in 25man to 10man, I'd be farming 10man heroics. Guild wide pet + Achievement > ilevel :D

You would unlock the legendary a lot faster if you did heroics. ;)

No you wouldn't. Even with the nerf to 25man and the buff to 10man, the last part that you need for the quest chain, you still get more from 25man.

We're 150 away from the pet :D I don't think there is any other "10man" guild that far along on my server.

You have to factor in too, we're doing 6/7 25man, if we attemped heroic 10man we'd get maybe 2/7 off the bat and with progression some where in 4/7 in 2-3 weeks. By then 6/7 of 25man + Rag on 10man the count is much higher.

I was referring to how you are 7/7 FL10 and that heroics would provide more in that case, but I'm guessing you transitioned from 10 to 25. We were going to do more achievement runs, but we don't even have a single staff yet. Given doing 6/7H, we should get it next week.

Overall, the distribution on 10-man is pretty bad compared to 25-man. I think Blizzard's dumb assumption is that for 1 10-man group, a 25-man group should be able to get at least 2. The problem is, if you look at it from a guild standpoint... most guilds seem to be either 1 10-man or 1 25-man. If there is a second 10-man, they're usually the scrubbier bunch.

Oh and by green gems and armor those are the ones within JC. All of the green gems have a craftable item you can use them for like I know carnelians are carnelian spikes and such.

I looked into doing this today as it's a good tip, but it turns out the carnelian gems themselves are going for 60g each... and for the spikes you need 3 carnelian... if DE'd, you get 3 greater celestial essences (or dust) each, so it's a straight up trade since on my server, GCE are also 60g - that's if you even get the GCE from the DE.

As for the nightstone choker, etc. items that you DE, I got a whole bunch of dust which go for 1g each, but nightstones go for 14g each.

So this tactic is not worthwhile on my server. :(

I have 75k gold so it's not really worth the effort for miniscule gains... thought this would be an easy way to go...
