Resubbed to check things out. Haven't been on since Burning crusade expansion. Got a couple 60 Warrs, a 60 Shaman, and a 60 Hunter. Game seems so damn confusing now that I wanted ask you lot a question.

1. Game still solo friendly?
2. What classes are decent in PvP without the bestest gears?
3. Worth it to roll a new char to check out all the changes....always wanted to try a solo mage.....if it's viable...what's currently best solo class?

Thanks in advance.

(1) It's a little solo Friendlier than it used to be. Though if you want to obtain the best items, you'll need to group.

(2) In casual PvP, you can wear what you like. There is Blue quality PvP gear available from crafters which is somewhat decent~ish. And if/when/as you grind enough honor, you can buy epics.

(3) Hunter (Beast Mastery) is still the best Solo class.

Thanks! How are the Mages for soloing? I guess the spec makes a difference as well.

I have a lvl 85 arcane/fire mage. I have been so busy lately I haven't been able to test out the new capabilities and do the research I need to yet so I can't give you a great answer but I've heard rumor that fire will come out on top for raids but that frost is still best for leveling... although I leveled almost all arcane. There's a new fire orb spell and we also have a new ability like "hero"

My Frosty is a lot of fun for surface questing: "If it can be slowed, it can be killed". But in an enclosed area where you can't kite, it can be a little rough at times. You do get a "pet" (summoned water Elemental) that can help at times, but it's not particularly tough.

Arcane is pretty potent, as well as Fire: In those specs you'll rely on burst, since you won't have Frost's control & Tricks.

Very easy to solo - at least in Cataclysm. Every quest you can either solo or you've got help to "solo" [in game NPC]. The quest gear rewards are actually pretty nice too - but you'll want to run dungeons and dailies for the epics.

Depending upon the guild size, you'll also get massive bonus to the XP - the larger the guild, the greater the bonus. 😉

I had a lvl 55 lock which I hadn't quested since before WOTLK - a lot of changes to the class which made it a lot more powerful and fun [no more GD shard bag required]. With about 6 weeks of rested XP [I logged in the toon at Cata launch] and the guild xp bonus, it literally took me a few hours to level from 55-60.

Alas - the side effect of it being very easy to level - you'll start repeating the end game content a lot sooner... dailies, dungeon runs, pvp, and afk trade chatting... 🙁

According to the character creating screen - huntard is the solo class [it even states this in the description].

Make sure you at least create a goblin and worgen to see the new areas too.

wtf happened to patch? Come on now.

btw, if anyone was wondering, if you follow the enchanting power leveling guide, it will cost you about 13-14k gold (75% AH mats). That's with being able to eventually DE quite a few BOE greens I saved up while leveling 80-85 for high level enchants. I haven't sold any of the 50+ scrolls I made yet though. I needed a gold sink so I decided to give it a try. Maybe I should've tried for something that could use Chaos Orbs so I could finally roll on them.

With my mage, I pvped from 30-80 pretty much. Gave me a nice change from the quests dragging along. Although I really liked the Rambo quests in red ridge lol.

I think I need to design a module for Recount that tracks the number of Taunts used per pull. I think I might see some rather high numbers in heroics from all the spread out DPS 😛. This tends to show off my biggest weakness as a tank... that is that I tend to think I have the proper target selected to taunt, but I actually don't and I end up blowing my taunt on a mob that's already on me :\.

What should I buy with Justice Points? I'm maxed out again and I have all the good Prot and Ret gear :\. I think I just wasted an entire dungeon worth of JP too heh.

Unfortunately, at the moment there's nothing to buy with JP once you have whatever Blues apply to your class. Blizzard did say they were going to put some things in in an upcoming patch - Hopefully that means this next one.

I'm maxxed out as well. Would be nice to be able to buy Flasks or Orbs or whatever. Even if they're expensive, it'd be better than wasting the JP.

Best JP sink atm is WoTLK gems, cut, and vendor sold. Next patch they are adding in herb/ore/cloth, etc. stuff, that is extremely expensive.

Speaking of Heirlooms, while doing research for them, i kept coming across mention of heirloom rings and leggings (not counting the Heirloom ring that is already in game from the kalu'ak fishing tourney). I can't remember what they were called at the moment, but they were listed on WoWhead. Has anyone heard any news of when or if they will ever show up in game?

Would be nice if they'd do something, I've been capped for weeks now. I have a full tank(ilvl 354) and dps(ilvl 346) set and full heirlooms for my 2 alts...

I spent about 440 JP yesterday on gems and capped again yesterday >_<.

You know... I wish Blizzard's server-related fees were more reasonable. I'm tempted to make a post on the forums in regard to the prices being outrageous on a per-character basis, but chances are it will amount to nothing. I've had people want me to play with them and vice-versa, but it's just too much if you have more than one character. I have 12 characters over level 80 and the thought of paying $25 for a server transfer and possibly $30 for a faction change per character is too much.

But the response I bet I'll get is the canned, "we don't want players to take these services for granted." I can understand their thoughts on that, but paying at least $100 for my main characters... even though I can afford it, I just can't justify throwing money away like that.

I also hope so, some nice resto druid changes to cover some of our weaknesses.

On a side note I'm beyond frustrated with my ten man...we basically can only get conclave, halfus, twins, mag, and defense system down. Not sure what's going on.

Better than us. We've had such a mess trying to coordinate schedules and get a good solid group each week between people's school and work schedules, being sick, etc. Mag and Defense System we can get without a problem now. We got Maloriak down to 0.4% this week on our best try! Only took a couple failed attempts on Halfus, and haven't even set foot in TotFW yet! 🙁

If you can get the first two in BWD you can get Halfus Conclave, and Twins easily, don't worry about that.

I hope you are right. We tried Halfus a couple times and failed miserably. It might have been a bad combination or something.

What about TotFW? How does the difficulty of the first boss there compare?

Once you have the strat down for the combo's on Halfus it'll be pretty simple.

Conclave is the same, at least the way we do it with tanks and healers switching between nature and Ice after ultimates.
