There are a lot of buffs hunter pets can bring but some of the best are available only with Exotic pets usable only by Beast masters. Some of the best are:

Embrace of the Shale Spider [Exotic Ability]
Instant
Fills all friendly party and raid members with the Shale Spider's embrace, increasing Strength, Agility, Stamina, and Intellect by 5%.

Qiraji Fortitude [Exotic Ability]
Instant
Increases party and raid members' Stamina by 584 [at level 85].

Ancient Hysteria [Exotic Ability]
Instant 6 min cooldown
Increases melee, ranged, and spell casting speed by 30% for all party and raid members. Lasts 40 sec. Allies receiving this effect will become Sated and be unable to benefit from Bloodlust or Time Warp again for 10 min.

Sadly most, if not all, of the buffs we can bring can be provided by others and they don’t stack

Yeah I knew hunters could but I was hoping maybe there would be someone else. *sigh* Sadly we have no hunters and aren't going to pick one up anytime soon.

Frost is fun at times but in order to play it optimally I actually have to pay attention. That's a lot to ask! ;)

As far as bear runs go, the trouble is getting the capable players from my guild on at the same time. Currently the best I have got is 2 minutes left at Lynx boss, but then again our group comp was bad, fdruid, 2 hunters, 2 paladins. If we got our MT, best healer, and 3 372 geared DPS, we could probably easily hit the timer. Mages are key to trash, they can steal earthquake buff, and cast/movement speed buff and annihilate trash.

On my server I bet only a few groups will get it. As with shipped cata heroics, things will get easier as time goes on.

Well if you cant get the “Bear Run” you could do a “Beer Run”

So here is what ya do, assuming you are of the age to drink and you don’t plan to drive. Every time you take out a trash mob pack you take a drink, For every boss you take two drinks, and for the end boss you take three.

Now by the end of the run you WON’T have a bear mount, you will likely have wiped at least ten times, if not more, and you WON’T give a darn.

Please drink responsibly

No HUNTERS? God normally you can’t swing a dead Murloc without hitting a Hunter.

Hey Gang,

Seeing as how the topic of conversation on this thread is predominantly end game at this point, I thought I might ask a question.

If you had to re-roll a new toon, what would you make and why? Taking into account of course you're going to have to level this toon in the process ...

On my server, Hunters are well represented amongst ranged Damage Dealers.... The problem is that 'Ranged DPS' is highly underrepresented as a whole.

OTOH - If I see *one* *more* application from a Retadin.

I'm at work and don't have the resources to research this right now, so if someone knows the answer, please chime in. Are there any other classes that can bring the +4% increase in physical damage that Brittle Bones from the Frost DK tree can? And haste too from Improved Icy Talons. Shaman can, but is there anyone else?

Arms Warriors bring 4% physical Damage and 10% increased damage from bleed effects. For this, I get to be the Guild Token Arms guy on the fights that don't need 2 tanks. (My Partner tank is a Pally, and his second spec is Holy)

That’s an easy question to answer actually. You should roll what you like to play. It’s really a personal choice and I can tell you I would hate to slog through 85 levels using a class I didn’t like playing.

Now the question becomes which of the classes to you enjoy playing?

In addition to that question I would say what do you like to do in game?

Raid, PvP, Quests?

Those things usually affect the choice of class but not always. I love my hunter for solo work and raiding but PvP… not my favorite on a hunter. And yes I have heard that Hunters are good in PvP so it may just be me.

Currently I have

Level 85 hunter – My main

Level 85 shadow priest – A Tauren Priest I leveled to get the achievement “Horde Killer” for my alliance guild LOL. Turned out this has been the only cloth toon that I actually like playing. Not as fun or as easy to solo quests since they nerfed the shield duration but still fun enough. Actually ran a five man normal with him last night and came in second of the three DPS.

Level 85 Paladin – Occasional tank and crafter

Level 85 Warrior – Protection Spec was my first toon. Mostly mining and skinning now

Level 85 Warrior – Fury leveled for Jewel crafting

Level 85 Druid – My attempt at a healer

Level 78 Hunter – Horde side

Level 84 Paladin – Horde side

Level 30 Rogue - Humm can you tell I’m not in love with playing Rogues?

I have run Death knights, Mages, and Warlocks, but none of them really clicked for me.

I ran a Shaman that I enjoyed so I guess in answer to your question, FOR ME if I were going to start a new character from Scratch I would give the nod to the Shaman.

That doesn’t mean it would be the easiest toon to level but it’s something I would enjoy playing.

If you are new to the game I suggest trying a few different classes to find out which one fits you best.

I am a confirmed altoholic, and have played almost all classes at one time or another. All of the classes are pretty reasonably balanced in damage/healing, so mostly it's a matter of playstyle or even just that you may like one's animations over another's. For brevity's sake, I'll only talk about ones at the level cap:

My main is a Warrior, which I rolled the week the game went live. Ended up being a Tank. Learned it, lived it, love it, and have done that for the entire time, with the exception of a couple months after TBC was released. This is the Role in the game that I enjoy most, since you're up front and fully involved at all times.

My #2 is a tossup between my Warlock (also rolled in the original game), and my Death Knight. Both are perfectly simple to level, with the DK having the obvious advantage of starting many levels ahead.

The Warlock is fun - I like playing Demonology best since to play it well it takes a certain aggression, but am comfortable with all 3 specs. And I use her as my go~to "take a break from tanking and relax" toon. Leveling was simple: Just let your pet take the beating.

The DK is really another Warrior with abilities that take more forethought and planning to get the best out of. That statement is NOT a criticism: But rather an observation. She's also main spec Tank, and lately that's all I've been doing on her since there's just no call for Melee damage dealers. If my Warrior was taken away from me, my Deathknight would be my new main.

My #3 is my Priest. Actually leveled her second with the intention of being my #2 in this expansion. But I've had a hard time getting used to the healing mechanics in the current iteration of the game. So she's been sitting until such time as I decide to pull my head out of the dark/smelly place it's currently embedded in and re-learn. Until then, she's my #4, falling in the pecking order, and at risk of being bench'd for a long time.

I have a Hunter in the works, and as a Pet Class the playstyle is fairly close to my Warlock's. Probably the easiest class in the game to level, and has a bit of a bad reputation since even dummies can be successful. But *know* that a skilled and well~played hunter is a great asset to any group, and can lay down *serious* damage.

For Versatility - The only class which can do *any* role in the game (Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, and Heal) is a Druid. Mine is Feral at the moment, but at various times I've done all roles. After Hunters, I would pick a Feral Druid as the easiest to level because of their complete self sufficiency.

I have a little rogue - And she's fun, but mostly feels like a DPS Warrior who can sneak around.

My (Frost) Mage is the caretaker of my Bank guild. I liked playing her, but in terms of leveling, the Warlock's Pet gave that toon the edge over the more fragile Mage.

I've tried twice to level a Paladin. Both times, I fell asleep somewhere between level 30 and 40, never really woke back up, and eventually deleted the toon.

Thanks for these replies.

I played WoW up to BC many years ago. I had the most success w/ my Warlock - I enjoy the mechanics though I do not like actually 'being' a warlock. I like being toons I can identify w/ - and I would never make pacts w/ the other side !!!

I enjoyed my Feral Druid for a great deal of time, but it leveled much slower than my Warlock (in my experience way back than anyway). Not sure if thats the same deal now.

how does a shammy get the spirit link totem after patch? I can't find it at the trainer and it's not in the spellbook.

Guild hit level 25 today and downed Cho'gall FINALLY. Boomkins are so OP. We had one of our MTs bring his and it was EASY for the adds.

My setpiece dropped but I said to give to the Priest due to their only other comparable piece dropping off Nef.

Typhoon does work rather well, but only if you line them up correctly. We just use normal slowing methods on them, but sometimes it does get hairy near the start of phase 2.

Is there a better boomkin guide out there than the EP one? I'm just not pulling the numbers I think I should be; AOE fights are ok, but single target my numbers go into the crapper. My well-geared Laser Chicken guildies don't perform how stateofdps would imply they should, either.

My guild made our first Magmaw attempt last night….

Lots of pain…. Horrible, horrible pain.

Other than that and us not getting him down in the limited attempts we did… it was okay

Magmas can be pretty hard on your kiter if they're not used to kiting. We either use a Frost DK with Chillblains or a Hunter. I also use my Earthbind totem to help the hunter, and he seems to rather like it being down.

LOL Well

RatboyX <-------- The hunter

Pain lots of pain

Actually I enjoyed the fight though I will enjoy it a lot more once we have the mechanics of it down right. To be fair we didn’t get enough attempts on it to really have a good feel for the fight as it was an end of the raid “Lets go see the encounter” sort of thing.

we had trouble using the single kiter technique so all of our ranged plus 2 ass rogues with OP FOK help with it when they come out. Ranged actually rotate between 2 points the whole fight. Works well for us now that we're used to it. Takes 4 head phases though.

The thing to remember as a hunter when kiting the parasites is that they will only spawn under your position. This is of course if you are the only one at range, which is how it SHOULD be (heroic requires 30% out to avoid meteors landing on melee). You can simply drop a trap when the pillar of flame is going to go off. You may want to consider also using things like the earthbind totem. If I remember correctly, our warlock also uses Shadowfury on them.

Interesting change with 4.2; CC abilities that don't also have a damage component will no longer put the castter/target into a combat condition. Standard aggro radius affects will still apply.
