Of course not.
Stop trolling, Perknose.
Every single pizza delivery company in my area has driver-owned vehicles and they all get the $2 delivery fee per order. If they take 5 pies out to 5 deliveries, that's $10 for a single trip costing them less than $1 in gas.
Prove me wrong.
Ok, troll, "every single place" in your area YOU CLAIM this is true for, and PROOF their drivers pocket this charge, or stfu and crawl away, TROLL.
Either do it, prove your lying little red-faced claim with verifiable facts, or STFU.
Edit: Are we talking about ONE place, blowhard, or, maybe TWO places. Provide proof, provide facts, or walk.

If you don't tip, they're making minimum wage. Also, enough with the "well then just get a better job" non-sense, not everyone is afforded the same opportunities, and it's pretty damned easy to sit around, get food delivered, and act condescending. Tip your delivery drivers, or get your own damned food. It's amazing how cheap some people can be.

The $2 per delivery charge was pretty simple to calculate for the restaurant: the owner is really picky about some things (and not picky about other things), and kept really good records on the deliveries. He took the cost of a vehicle & all the expenses over 5 years (gas, oil changes, other maintenance, insurance), and divided by the number of deliveries over those 5 years. And, in order to get a decent rate on insurance, all the drivers have to be at least 25 years old; high school students do not get hired to deliver. $2 per delivery was pretty close to the actual costs. (It was actually a little above $2) And, of course, they don't charge a delivery fee on large orders.

What's great is I don't tip them and still get my pizza delivered. On time and perfectly fine. The pizza delivery guy survives, too. Aint America grand?

The pizza shop I'm most familiar with: if the driver uses the restaurant's car (preferred by the restaurant for insurance reasons) then the restaurant gets the delivery fee; driver keeps the tip, and driver is paid the same rate as the guys inside. i.e. the delivery guy gets to take a ride in an air conditioned car while everyone inside busts their asses, making the same pay, and gets to keep any tips.
If a person takes their own car, they keep the entire $2 delivery charge. I don't know about some of you, but it costs more than you think to deliver. Gas isn't the only cost to driving a vehicle, there's a lot of maintenance. And city miles are a lot meaner on cars than highway miles.

Wow! An intelligent, dispassionate, and highly learned answer . . . in ATOT!

I love people who think delivery drivers lack memory, never communicate between them, and don't have ball sweat.

Yeah, believe the figure you, a fast and loose blowhard, just pulled out of his ass, or Dr. Pizza, who has been intimately involved with and worked for his local pizza place for the last 20 years.
Decisions, decisions.

Do drivers keep the delivery charge? I always wondered that.
Otherwise, $2 might not have covered his mileage to deliver it.
I wonder, if you open a pizza joint, can you 1099 your drivers so they can expense mileage? The IRS rate plus the tips would make it a decent enough gig for a high school kid, providing that they use their car for 51% deliveries or whatever is required to take that deduction.
typically the driver gets $1 and the place pockets $1.

And, apparently you get it with a side of ball sweat. That sounds nice. Sure, in America, being a prick is absolutely your right. You'll get your end of the deal at some point.

It's pretty evident that many, many, people do not understand how the real world works. I knew a lot (15-20?) delivery drivers during school and I'd say the vast, vast majority of them made minimum wage. The delivery fee DID NOT get paid out to the driver, it was kept by the restaurant as a fee for preparing/packaging for delivery.

Why don't you take a dose of your own medicine and provide your own proof that they don't, you geriatric social reject.

 Ooh, better pay up or get something on my pizza! Honestly, some chump at a pizza store having the presumption of threat over me to pay money to get the pizza I ordered without "ball sweat" is pretty sad. Anyone who lives that way is probably destined to remain a pizza delivery boy for quite a while.

SirStev0 used to deliver pizza, and now he'll be a doctor in a few years. Get over yourself.
