Memory bandwidth is one of the greatest constraints in the advancement of the computing power. With CPUs becoming more powerful, they add more caches and support for faster RAM.
Yet, historically Android SoC makers (Qualcomm, Mediatek, Samsung) have been stingy in including big caches in their...
I have a Samsung PM981a 512GB SSD M.2 PCIe x4 NVMe and I can't find a way to connect it to my pc via usb or usb c (so as an external drive). I already tried with this adapter (a friend of mine suggested me that it was the right one), but it doesn't work, and I don't know how to find one that...
I have two Samsung SSDs in my computer, an 840 Pro and 860 Evo, both are connected via a SATA3 interface configured as AHCI.
The motherboard is an Asus P8Z77-V Pro, with an i7-3770K CPU.
TRIM is enabled, MB and drive firmware is the latest.
Both drives report sequential performance...
Have a Synology NAS RS2818RP+, as per their website they state to use their ram which costs around 370USD for 16GB DDR4 2666MHz ECC UDIM. I have found the same specs manufactured by Samsung and Micron for 108USD.
Is there a specific manufacturer that are deemed the best for server RAM...
The new Galaxy S21 series was announced today. I'm still soaking in all the information. I dumped some specs below for comparison.
Some things that popped out to me.
* Updated Look and Colors
The new look is cool. I like the colors, but wish there was a blue option. The camera module looks...
I am looking everywhere within reason to find EVO 860 mSata's and I am getting messages that the are currently un-available. Is Samsung coming out with new mSata's? if not, can I disassemble a T5 or T7 to get them?
I have an Asus MG278Q monitor right now. It’s ok. Very fast panel, Free sync is supported but color reproduction is poor. So, I’m looking for a new monitor. I did a little research, some are advising to look TV’s, specially OLED TV’s for this generation.
Min 120 hz and Freesync/Gsync support is...
It seems to be reported in Korean media that Samsung won the order to fab Intel chips.
They specifically mentioned desktop chips.
Which chips would those be?
What fabrication node could it possible be
I have a Samsung 840EVO 500GB SSD. I need to read inside it. It presents a broken part, with a bubble on it. Something was wrong with electricity, this is a simple part that I could try to replace with a little soldier. But I need a replacement part. Please help.
Hi guys, I've been trying for weeks to get my Asus Maximus VI Formula bios to see my new EVO 970 SSD and am at my wits end. I've managed to create and flash a custom bios with the added Nvme support, cloned my drive, enabled and disabled CPM, pretty much everything I can find online. I didn't...
I bought a new 512GB Samsung 860 M.2 EVO SSD mounted on the only slot I have on my AsRock Z170m Extreme4 motherboard with a i7 6700K. Writing speed are slower than the benchmarks I've seen on the internet. Like ~500/~300.
I had a previous 840 EVO (3.5 drive not M.2) on a sata cable and the...
Can someone give me some feedback related to BATTERY LIFE in terms of wired vs wireless charging (fast charging disabled)?
I already know that fast charging CAN reduce battery life. Do we have any info on wireless charging? Since it's an inductive charging, some part of it's energy it's...
Just a quick question. I've read a lot about the new SSDs released by both Crucial and Samsung and I'm torn as to which one to go for: Crucial MX500 1TB or Samsung 850 Evo 1TB (as far as I can see, the upgraded 860 evo isn't worth the extra money). The samsung is £50 more, but is...
Samsung Starts Mass Production of 16Gb GDDR6 Memory ICs with 18 Gbps I/O Speed

Technology just keeps getting better! RAM is the real bottleneck in computing, so anytime I see jumps in RAM performance I'm a happy camper!
Samsung brands second-gen HBM2 as 'Aquabolt'
Now in mass production

WOW, GDDR6 is only 16GBps! And up to 32GB! I wonder how fast this jumps into AMDs new design plans?
I currently edit footage taken from the GH5 which can record up to 400 Mbps. Samsung 850 Evo can already hit read/write speeds of 500 Mbps so would that be enough to smoothly edit my footages off of or would the Samsung 960 pro still benefit me? Plus there is a very nice sale for the 1tb models...
My pc shuts down randomly while playing games. first freezing, then the game will come back for a few minutes, then the computer will shut down. None of the parts I’ve RMA’d have helped the issue, i recently put the power setting to high performance, and i can get a few hours of gameplay now...

Been holding out for the Note 8 since I had to regress to the S7. The S7 was probably the best phone to replace it, but it definitely is no Note 7.
Finally some more solid looking news on the forthcoming Note 8 :
I'm not sure if this is really the right forum or not for this, honestly. Apologies if so.
Thus far I've root caused sporadic CPU spikes down to the m.2 drive itself.
I recently built a new system using a Ryzen 1800X, and MSI X370 Titanium motherboard. My issue is that when loading an...
Seeing that there is no topic regarding those mobile chips, besides this ones:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
Two of our engineers at the office are both experiencing nearly identical problems, on identical drives... so I have a theory. They work with a lot of the same clients so, is it possible, that a virus may have come through attached to an email and fried both drives by way of hijacking and...
Hello Galaxy Note 4! What a strange 'upgrade' right? I'm dumping Verizon so I bought the international exynos Note 4 + a 10,000 mAh battery for $270 I'm keeping my Galaxy S5 + 7,500 mAh battery for offline wikipedia, mp3's, and audiobooks.
Battery life is the most important factor in my life...
I have a vizio ms420sv with a vertical line problem. The problem was intermittent at first but now it is constant.
Im not sure with this would be a main board or the lcd panel it self. If someone could help me that would be great.
Here is a video of the problem...
Impressive screen-to-body ratio if true.
Have the above monitor. No issues for at least 8 months.
Recently, after a pc reboot, noticed my mouse wasn't working (which is plugged into the monitor). Anyways, after much troubleshooting, discovered none of the ports on the monitor are recognized. Tried different cables, different ports...

We already knew from a nice find by Ashraf Eassa that TSMC's 7nm HD SRAM will be 0.54x Intel's 14nm SRAM cell at 0.027um^2, and now we also have some new infos about Samsung and GloFo's 7nm dug up by SemiEngineering.
There are at least 3 majors foundries in the computer business, and that is not even counting countless other more minor foundries. There are 3 current major lines from these 3 major foundries in the 14/16 nm node process, but these are more marketing terms and broad category alignment than...

i am building a new PC (An intel Skylake NUC). Looking for an efficient M2 SSD.
This machine would be used as a server with a lot of data being read and written to database.
Other than these, this machine would be used as regular machine where in few other processes would be running...
