Sierra Forest should be pretty much the same SoC as Granite Rapids, just substituting a Redwood Cove core for a Crestmont (?) module. So yes, that looks to mean the mesh, though fewer die to die hops should help vs SPR.

Aren't they moving the IO part to a tile with SF?

So it'd be a 6x6 CPU tile with the 4 cores per spot. And then the IO tile.

Do we know if Sierra Forest is still using the mesh interconnect? I'm curious to know whether they'll still use some type of E-core module or this was done solely to accommodate E-cores on the consumer ring bus.
It's the same dreaded Mesh Interconnect but made it worse because those 144 e cores will be divided into 36 quad clusters, and each quad cluster has its own dedicated ring bus interconnect.

Atom clusters do not use a ring bus internally. That diagram refers to the ring bus in the client chips.

Lol ye - >2x the cores at <50% the power consumption for >2.6x SpecPower (perf/watt bench?)😂

This makes absolutely no sense...
You can't get 2.6x performance off adding another processor unless were scaling down for some form of ECO mode, where we ignore the value of time and just use the value of Work done / Power draw.
And you can't draw less then 50% unless again some kind of ECO mode was activated, or the boards are horrible at efficiency, which i highly doubt, as they are probably SuperMicro, and well you guys hear me going on about how Supermicro is like one of the best boards you can get if your not a gamer.

Amd is not paying you.. why you so excited

Intel is not paying you either. Or are they . . . ?

Gawd no, don't remind us! 🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥

What was it called, Tejarus or something?

Tejas was supposed to be the 7 GHz chip. I think Nehalem was originally supposed to be the 10 GHz one, though the name was (obviously) repurposed.

Minus the memory controller + PHY, yes, the IO is moving to those endcap tiles. Possible they do a non-square arrangement though. Curious to see what it ends up as.

if any one @ amd or intel or nvidia need a good shill I'm open
Lol I didn't mean shilling at all 😂

I spend a lot of time reading this stuff and sci tech in general so it would be a natural day job for me to write about it.

If I had a good set of teeth left I'd start a Youtube channel for a vlog, but that ship sailed years ago 😅

I keep forgetting you're a good deal older than me. How does 60 feel? lol

I'm not the one to give this advice out but who cares? there's plenty of my fellow countrymen back home (England) on youtube and they've got terrible teeth. mine were and still are very americanised. plus there's that dopey dumbass mlid with that tumor sized chin. the only person who makes fun of him is me. be free elder soaresu.

Yeah sadly almost all NHS dentists went private in the late 90s / early 2000s due to govmt mismanagement, so it's almost as bad as the US cost wise to get your teeth fixed unless it's at emergency treatment (immediate removal) level.

The only people I've heard of that had emergency treatment didn't have anything positive to say about it 😕

At this point if the NHS started doing it again they'd be drowned in cases for some time.

You're English?! Jesus, I had no idea. Not cross my mind despite seeing you online at this hour all the time. Yep, we got out of that hell hole while satan's lovechild the witch was still pm, and as the white flight from aparthaeid South Africa was flowing in with their racism. Been living here since in various states. I go back every other year when I can financially and see extended family or old friends who were too in deep before realising they couldn't bail out. Only worth it if you've bought a house in the country and most of the good places have become home to acid heads, unfortunately. I may retire back there but the only top side of it will be the nearly non existent gun crime if the gov of t manage to do away with health services. I'm ok today but idk where I will b in 10 or 15 years time health wise.

Just had a chat with an old chldhood friend the other day who spent six months kicking around nhs offices to get his hormone panel checked out and ended up seeking private treatment with an immediate referral. Another very distant pal's wife's something got wafted around with bullshit for months and is now on her dying bed due to nhs lacking due dilligence. you'd argue this is the state of all government healthcare but the nhs is a fraction of what it used to be. the dutch have a decent system but they're all quite fit due to riding around and not eating the crap we did growing up in the 70s and 80s. Still remember this woman my nan was friends with who'd love black pepper, pickled horseradish and iirc flora spread sandwiches on toasted cheap bread for her tea. even a dog wouldn't eat such crap.

there's not much difference here. they pack in sugar with everything and sadly I've become accustomed to the taste over time. I try to watch what I eat . the processed food consumption back home is higher now than it was a 20 years ago and obviously from my time there but it's much higher in america. people seem chuffed to eat a bag of crisps and maybe some precooked sausage in a sugary white bun over a nice meat of roast beef, mutton or chicken with vegetables and some roasties.

For non emergency problems they are painfully slow, but having been in hospital for an extended multi day period a few weeks back with cellulitis I can infer from various sources that I would now be drowning in debt had I been in the US.

As you say though if that goes it will go badly very quickly - hopefully the same spirit that created the NHS in the first place will rise up once more before that happens.

Not to disgress but here in France it s somewhat better than in the UK although high quality ceramic crowns are not well reimbursed.

Ten years ago i accompagnied my mother in Algeria, our country of origin, where she take her vacations and usually do some dental treatments at affordable cost, i benefited from the trip to get two urgent nices ceramic crowns for 15€/unity, nevermind that it wasnt reimbursed by France s healthcare...

If Bergamo isn't already selling like hotcakes they will after these benches.

Did I see something about a possible 4S platform for future Zen servers?

Or was that MIxxx perhaps.....

I'd be interested to see how well the 2S 256C configuration does with offline ray/path traced rendering tasks ala Arnold/Renderman/Cycles.

Lol - a single one of them is probably easily exceeding the total perf of the render farm they used for LOTR Return of the King 😅
The Mi300 platform will apparently support 12 Zen 4 CPU CCDs and a 4 way (4 socket). Zen 4c has not been mentioned.

Zen 5 (Turin) dense are likely going to ne on N3 and are likely going to be 16 core native (instead of dual CCX).

So putting these in the next gen Mi400 12 dies x 16 cores = 192 cores. In 4 socket implementation, a node of 4 of these would have 768 cores.

Not enough!

I need to melt some boards with 1k+ cores! 🤘

Seriously though this is just an insane progression of scaling from 2017.
