I have not played the game but all the fuss I have read makes it sound like it is something that breaks the game. So I am assuming that is the case. I am sure you have heard of the pay to win model and from a lot of the arguments, I was under the impression that this game weighed heavily on that model when playing online with someone who payed for all the cars.

If what you say is true, then I think a lot of people are making a mountain out of an ant hill.

This...if you play the career, you get tons of money to buy whatever you want. When you buy tokens you can avoid career mode and still get the cars. There's no difference except one person was lazy. With the DLC cars, none of them will be significantly better than others in it's class. The LaFerrari isn't tons better than the McLaren P1 for example. Nothing is broken. People are just pissed because the game was released for launch but with "only" 200 cars and 14 tracks. As I said before, every car I care to have is available in the game without any DLC. I would be willing to purchase track packs later to extend the value for my gameplay.

I would take the...optimists posting here with a grain of salt. I say that simply because sometimes they come off like they are trying to justify the large amount of cash they spent on a very neutered product.

Does that mean the game is unplayable? No. Each person will find their own worth in it.

I bought it knowing full well what I was getting and I don't call it neutered. You come off as an entitled child with your moaning about content in the game. A game you don't even own based on your posts here.

Money sink? Then every game you buy is the same. I bought the base game, nothing more.

I don't think you even know what you're talking about. Just jumping on the bandwagon.

And I think you are getting butt hurt personalizing what is being said. If you are enjoying the game and feel you got your moneys worth, then good for you. Go play it. I suppose all those people who disliked what MS was going to do and got vocal about it were entitled children just whining too. Just because YOU don't mind it, doesn't mean everyone has to. I imagine it is a bandwagon, and should be to get any traction, however it is not just about THIS game, but for any that might be the same way.

I hate the way companies are handling this these days.

There was a day when you bought the game and got EVERYTHING. The fact that this no longer exists pisses me off.

Now I am just one person but there are people out there where the decision to get a next gen console and one game is a serious financial decision. For them, they can't pay extra money for cars.

FWIW: Crap like this (and lack of games) makes me have little to no interest in a next gen console. The BS with my XBOx 360 pisses me off enough (can't get Netflix unless I pay for XBox Live).

You got everything they made until the next game added something. Now they can add that something to the game you bought via DLC. There are a lot of people who would rather buy new map packs and missions than wait for a whole new game. They enjoy the game enough that they want more. You do get the whole game, for $60. If that whole game doesn't suit you then don't make a purchase and wait for a sale or something.

Yes, because if people on the internet make a big fuss about something, it must be true! As has been said before, the majority of those people making the above "fuss" don't even play the game, or care to. They just like to complain, never mind the facts, as they just get in the way.

As another user who actually owns the game, I can tell you that cmdrdredd is completely right. You definitely do not need the DLC cars to win at multiplayer (or single player.) There is no advantage to those.

Then they shouldn't be buying even the console to begin with.

The cost of game prices has been stagnant for nearly a decade. And adjusted for inflation, they've never been cheaper. (i.e. a $50 SNES game in 1991 adjusts to over $80 in today's economy.) Not to mention, development costs are higher because our expectations are exponentially higher than they were decades ago.

So, I look at it as... Would you be happier paying $80+ for "EVERYTHING", or $60 for the game with the option of purchasing more?

How about offer both and see what happens? Not to mention buying "everything" now is well over $80 in this case.

If they offered Forza 5 for $80 (even with all the planned DLC), gamers would freak out.

Well, the sames ones that are freaking out about optional DLC.

I personally don't care about Forza, but if this came into games I *do* care about, then I won't be happy.

People complained about Diablo III and I agreed with them to an extent, but overall I really liked the game and got 100hrs out of it. So it is definitely subjective. Just based on the reviews if I was being "forced" to buy <with money> things to make the game enjoyable, I would not be happy.

There are no games I care about that have DLC which I feel I need to buy to make the game worth playing. That seems to be the core of the problem based on the article - lack of rewards for your efforts, low content, etc.

I've never knowingly paid for DLC. It may have come in some cheap Steam bundles but I've not used any of it... knowingly lol. I buy a game I think is worth playing and skip the DLC, even if it is an awesome game. I put that money towards a new game. More of the new, less of the same.

But see, that's the problem with the article. This game is phenomenal, even if you didn't participate in any of the DLC.
There are more than a few of us in this thread, who actually own the game, that are in agreement on this.

Has DLC and real money transactions? Let's post a sensationalized article to drum up hits and the "anti DLC brigade" will jump on it without ever actually playing the game - says every clever internet blogger... I mean "journalist" on these garbage game sites.

This is why I stated it is subjective.

I have the game, and have no intention of buying tokens. I'll probably buy tracks via DLC, but thats it. It really does seem like people have made way more of a bigger deal about the microtransactions than they really are. Also, as has been said before, its easier to earn money than it was before (top 3 for gold, drivatar earning money for you, etc) so it evens it out anyway.

I have the game and the core gameplay is good enough that I want to buy more cars and tracks. I bought every DLC for forza 4 and will probably do the same for forza 5.

if they didn't offer any DLC, would I still be happy with the base game 200 cars/14 tracks for $60? Hell yes. I paid 60 for most past forzas and gran turismos and they didn't have laser scanned tracks and super detailed cars

n/m not worth it.
Too late, I already read it. ;)

Personally, I'm speaking more against those who don't know what they are talking about. Specifically, those who say that you have to buy the DLC to compete. That simply is not true.

If you have a philosophical objection to DLC... More power to you. But while you are choosing not to participate, I will be enjoying the hell out of this game. Even if I choose not to buy any DLC.

To be honest, I probably will buy the DLC. And to be very honest, I'll probably buy all of it (except tokens.) Why, because it's worth it to me. The amount of entertainment I get out of Forza 5 is well worth the total money spent.
