i hope you try it and get nailed. that way you are stuck with the new system.

It would be even better if his new system broke too.

You know what would be REALLY awesome? Is if YOU two go out and drop over a half grand on something new, but end up having to settle for a refurb, or worse.

Yeah yeah... that would kick ass!!!

yeah because you are like special and everything right? the rest of us have to deal with MS.

i guess when you don't have ethics life is much easier

You mean like the kind of ethics that would have prevented such sh*t from hitting the market in the first place? Spare me.

yes since ethics control quality.

all company's have a failure rate. everyone knows that when they buy something. Thats why items come with the option of getting a warentee for a fee.

but no. not you! you are special!

You do realize that some estimates reveal a 50% failure rate for the 360, right? Sorry, this isn't normal. This goes far beyond normal risk when purchasing something.

and yet you still purchased one...

Who said anything about cheating anyone? Others seem to think I'm going on a retailer raping rampage, but I haven't.

If that's the case, post your method.

It's quite clear that nobody agrees with you. While some think that MS may owe you something, nobody agrees with you stealing or somehow using shady methods to get one.

Personally, I think MS owes you something. Maybe you should call them and see what is up. If there truly is a 50% failture rate, surely MS is doing something about this. No company in their right mind would screw over 50% of their customers.

50% seems HIGHLY exaggerated to me. I'm not saying there isn't a problem, but a full half the systems failing? Hmmm... not in my experience, but maybe me and all my friends are in the good half.

Oh no... you're mistaken. He's decided to circumvent the system and take matters into his own hands. By crying, screaming and kicking about it. Civilized discussion, proper methodology w/ MS has no place in his world. Maybe his "replacement" is to just ask mom and dad for a new one.

I agree. they should have a minimum 2 (3-5 would be good) years warentee on the system. if it fails they replace it free (even with refurb is fine). after 2 years for a minumum charge.

wich is why im willing to purchase a Nintendo wii. one of the few company's i have found that are actually helpful on returning broken items.

Why should I ruin everyone's fun? If I keep my mouth shut, everyone gets to make all these neat assumptions and judge me. We're all having a good time, why mess it up?

How's this for this for ethics: I had SOLD my 360 when it started freezing. When I noticed the freeze, I contacted the buyer and let him know what was happening. He said he still wanted it, but wanted to give me a few days to sort it out. When the red lights hit, I refunded his money.

I could have easily just shipped the thing the moment it started acting suspicious. So again, spare me the ethics bullsh*t.

ok so you did something right once. Now? you refuse to tell us how you are going to get a free replacment. if not pulling the switch then what?

i don't see how being a stubburn mule is worht the the reputation you are earning.

I'm here for my own amusement, not peer approval.

The two i've returned makes up for at least one of your error-free friends.

Actually, I've received 5 or 6 PMs from people showing quite a bit of support as well as offering a number of suggestions. That's in addition to several who've posted in this thread. Maybe they just prefer to not be judged by a collection of self-righteous twats. Personally, I really don't care what the lot of you says because you're not the ones stuck with the problem. It's easy to be all high and mighty when it's not your problem. Been there, done that.

It's funny that the one or two people calling me "uncivilized" and insinuating that I'm a child also happen to be the ones doing the most name calling.

I returned a PS1 wayback. Not sure how the 360 is packaged but the PS1 was just a glued closed cardboard box. Opened the new, insert old, reglue box and return. As an 'un-opened' box it did not receive any scrutiny by the return desk.

That is my guess at this point.

Its to be expected that the first consoles produced are going to have problems, first off its non mature hardware.

Secondly, people dont want a console that has a constant high pitched whine going off in the background while its keeping its self cool. I'm sure they'd get just as many complaints about that.

Ig-nor-ANT.

1. It's NOT to be expected. If I buy a product, IT SHOULD WORK. Don't be stupid by suggesting that the first X number of customers are just the second round of beta testers. Do you work for EA by any chance?

2. My console was not "one of the first". It's actually a "second revision" Xbox.

3. I'll take a high-pitched whine over a $400 heap of plastic any day, thank you very much. If the machine can't operate in normal conditions, then it's not ready to hit the shelves. It's as simple as that.

Somehow I doubt your "immediate" solution, since you're being so discreet about it, is legal. Kudos to you. Things don't go the way you want, whine on ATOT and break the law FTW!

I'd like to see you eat $400 ($600 if you include games and accessories). We'll see how cooperative you are at that point.

jbourne77, you need to sit down and shut the fvuk up. Stop complaing, if you really think its just a heap of plastic then why dont you go ahead and buy a PS3 or Wii... Idiot.

So what you're saying is that you bought a product that carried a warranty to work for XXXXX days/months. It worked just fine while under the warranty period. After the company no longer guaranteed the product to work, the product stopped working.

And now you feel it is your right to steal from a retailer, who had nothing to do with the warranty or the company you're pissed at, and put the retailer out a couple hundred dollars, all because you feel entitled to something?

Ya, I see a lot of sympathy flowing your way.

FTW.

Yep. I'm the one who can't have a civilized conversation!

By the way, Firefox 2 is out and has a built-in spell checker. It's pretty nifty.

Yep, and a witty little parody it was.

This all leads back to an individuals character...
