Why get all worked up before you even speak to Microsoft?
Because I don't intend to speak to Microsoft. I don't intend to jump through all the hoops and over all the hurdles just to hopefully get the opportunity to go through the hassle of shipping this brick back to them and then waiting 8 weeks for a refurbished unit.
No thanks... my solution is much easier and will produce immediate results.
You know absolutely jack sh!t about the repair / replacement process.
I've been through this twice so far when my console was under warranty. The repair process takes approximately 2 to 2.5 weeks turnaround time from the time you make the call. Also, many people have had excellent luck calling them up to purchase the $30 extended warranty; then call back a few days later to get your repair.
BTW, if you plan on pulling a retail box switcheroo, most stores check to see if the serial number on the box matches up with the console you are returning.
That is incorrect. There is no serial number on the box itself. Dedicated game retailers like Gamestop and EB DO scan the serial number that is shown through the hole in the box and ON the unit itself, which shows on the receipt, but places like BB and Walmart ONLY scan the UPC code on the box.
