the green duck is adium seen here with a custom killbill theme. i dun use the mac for anything but aim/web/mail/music and maybe photoshop/imovie if i need to. pretty much all you need gets shipped with the OS.

if you have a laptop check out mac stumbler other then that i dont keep up with the mac scene so i wouldnt know about the must haves, sorry. konfabulators pretty cool but its going to be replaced by dashboard when 10.4 comes out.

the little american flag is language select; spanish, japanese, all that stuff.

edit: oh ya, a link to adium

if you have a download manager program it may be easier to directly download the clip from:

mms://ftp:share@a999.v0674e.c674.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/999/674/3ccdde3f/cnetnews.download.akamai.com/674/4n0628tiger_1_hi.asf

sweet video though.

Actually, just about any software on the Mac platform is in various Mac P2P networks. Mac users have been doing it since the beginning. Not that I participate.

It will be the tool i need to do the job i need to it to do.

You'd be surprised at what a Dell with XP can do

Boasting about their new OS and all they can do is show off that chat crap?

The crapple heads are going to be in a frenzy down at the local Starbucks over this...

Hahahaha you guys are weenies. Longhorn this and Longhorn that...Longhorn wants to OS X. If it wasnt for the flair of OS X, PC users will still be using Windows 2000.

Wow, the new version of iChat is really cool. I'm curious how well the Spotlight search REALLY works, though. If it's anything like Windows XP's "search" tool, I'll pass.

It sounds like WinFS... ask your computer something, and it'll find it instantly...
What's the release date for vaporware?

I still dont get it why apple keep releasing new oses every year??
It's just what Apple does. The Apple guys like to be innovative and write new features, if only for the hell of it(see: Apple fast-user switch).
Or for money. Look at the system requirements on the apple software page.

Which is funny because every new revision has made things faster for older Macs (running Pather on a G3 400).

There is no use arguing with you mac people. They should have a second p&n for "platforms and nitpicking".

Ok, why not a powermac G4 then? :)

Does this attitude only apply to computers, or does it apply to everything in your life?

And x86 based PC people are any better? Or Linux idiots? What about BSD bigots? Or Windows admins? It's a dumb thing to argue about, but some people just can'tb let Mac users enjoy the new stuff in peace.

Spotlight might be useful for some people. I'm sure my parents would find it very useful. But I'm so organized with my files that it's wasted on me.

I actually would prefer separate windows for something like ichat.

For example, let's say I think phil and bertrond are both idiots. Their windows would be a lot smaller. Or let's say phil and bertrond are both showing different parts of a design plan. I would want their windows to be a lot bigger. Or say I want to simultaneously read my speech off my computer. Then I would want each video window to be quite small.

For a company that's so revolutionary, I would think the most obvious thing is to seamlessly go from audio to video, or vice versa.

Rob: "hey john, I got this great new ad poster for widget version 3.2."
John: "oh ya? show it to me."
Rob: "ok, let me activate video."

I'm guessing the program will also have an option for separate windows.
