man i wish i knew nintendo's dealings because we would know for sure...all i'm saying is that best buy is offering this deal. they are not wrong for doing so and it must be part of the deal with nintendo. i don't buy the notion that nintendo would say no to circuit city in this same regard because it hurts nintendo's chances of selling more consoles at circuit city.

do you realize how much money in accesories they would have to sell just to break even after giving away 50 dollar games? my guess is lots of people took advantage of this deal, and this would hurt stores. i could be wrong but if i was a retailer i would definitely want to be reimbursed for the lost sales in the four games being offered in the deal

okay the 149.99 is like this. i don't understand why a store would give away a game for a lower priced item but not a higher priced item which is practically the same item. does circuit city not want to make more money by selling the bundles and giving the games out with those? if i was the manager that's what i would stress to the salespeople. and from my interpretation of the rules of the deal, the bundle falls into the discretion of the retailer as to whether or not they want to give away games with the purchase of the bundle. because think about it...nintendo is reimbursing the retailers for their lost money on giving away free games, so why should a store give a rats ass which game cube package someone buys? if you don't understand that you are a monkey on a power trip

Circuit City loses money when they sell that bundle. The deal is not on the bundle, so if Nintendo IS reimbursing them, they don't have to if they give it on the bundle.

Yes CC is losing money because Nintendo WILL NOT reimburse them on that sales. Nintendo's deal w/ Circuit City does not include the Sunshine bundle. Nintendo may have made deals w/ Best Buy on the Sunshine bundle + free game at which Nintendo will reimburse the cost of the free game. In this case, Circuit City does not have that same deal going as Best Buy. Think of it as Staples selling a Maxtor HD for $120 with a staples only $40 rebate. It is a deal that Maxtor and Staples had made beforehand WHICH DOES NOT MEAN OFFICE DEPOT WILL HAVE THE SAME REBATE OPPORTUNITY. True that the core GameCube w/ free game is being ran all over the nation, but the Sunshine bundle IS NOT.

show proof when you make stupid statements....it is in nintendo's best interest to have the same deals everywhere because more consoles are sold if there is no bias towards retailers

Tell me this: Why did TRU run a deal last year on "Buy 2 $49.99 PS2 games, get 1 $49.99 game free" but not anywhere elses? You truly are not understand the concept of marketing strategies being played by intercompany relationship. You don't get the same deal everywhere in many cases because companies make exclusive deals w/ the manufacturers day in and day out. It is a sort of 'reward' for allowing a certain companies to push a deal while other companies do not have the luxury of enjoying 'reward' because of lack of sales or other reasons. This type of strategy is being played everywhere in our society. Even the government. It is pratical way of keeping relationship between companies.

okay newton i will explain. a store has the right to do their own promotion and that was a tru promotion, not a nintendo promotion as is the case today. you truly do not understand anything you bewildered primate.

First, we're sorry we didn't live up to your expectations. That's not what we wish for any customer and we'd like to know about the details so that we can ensure it doesn't happen again. If you haven't spoken to your local store manager about this, please give him/her a call. If you have spoken to the manager and remain unsatisfied, please call our Cool-Line at 1-800-251-2665.

Will be calling tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's SUPER advise

call away. haha I like how you are bitter about our SUPER advise. Sucks to only have one supporter. Then corporate will call the store, and hear the REAL story.

i work at cc, you are supposed to get one of the four free games with any game cube system. black, purple, platnum, or sunshine bundle....doesnt matter. That sales associate was being a retard, and the manager doesnt sound to bright either. Go above them, if that was the store manager, go to district manager. When i hear sh!t like this, i get sick of cc. would never happen at the store i work at, but i only work at 1 store. Write the district manager there, make sure you have the names of the associate, explain that until that store & mentioned associates clean up there customer service you will discontinue to shop there.

I'll go into CC on Thursday and look at their Merch News on the subject. I'll get the *official* deal, straight from corporate, not from a (id imagine) sales specialist.

I'm also still calling Allentown tomorrow and getting their word on what happened. What is the name of the sales person on your receipt?

giving the game free with sunshine bundle might be per store manager. this is one side of the story of course, but that manager and associate were out of line. "i get off at 9:30" that is a stupid thing to say...there are some customers that i wish i could kick in the balls, but if i said any thing like that, my ass would be canned 1 min after my store manager found out. plus, wanting to fight over something like this, just made that associate look like a moron.

To me, it doesn't matter if he was right or wrong. ONCE the guy made a verbal threat, the products were his at any price.

Ok, so maybe he misunderstood the deal and argued about it. Once the salesman threatened him, they really had no choice but to honor what the customer thought the deal was. What's the better option for the manager? Give the customer what he wants, or face a possible lawsuit on the company because one of his employees challenged a customer to a fight?

Both sides were wrong. The company has more to lose in this situation. I agree, if things happened they way they were STATED, that the customer service was piss poor. I might have a different opinion if the company stated their side of the story.

Either way, you got the deal you wanted - now shut up about it. Both sides were wrong. One just had more to lose than the other.

Ok.

I work at Circuit City.

I am a technology product specialist, a different department.

I know the way Circuit City generally works with there deals, as I have worked there for quite awhile.

I don't know the specifics of this deal, because it is in a different department, as cheaparse said, it could even vary from store to store. I will call Allentown, and I will check at my store as well. I will read the official communication from circuit city, the weekly promo sent to PST/music specialists(which I don't get).

u shoulda let the dude whoop your ass, then sue, sue, sue!

seriously though, that young salesperson is very unprofessional, no matter how anal the customer is, just as long as they dont physically touch you, you never challenge a customer to a fight.

then again, you are anal, but you got what you want for being anal, so dont complain. even if the sign wasnt labelled very carefully, it is not that hard to figure out the deal you are trying to get is invalid, you probably already knew about this unclarity in the ad and tried to push your luck, and you shoulda of given up on the first try when the cashier initially denied you. you woulda never met the unprofessional young salesman, but u woulda never got it at that price either. so consider your self lucky by going through the hoops, but stop the bitchin', you got a steal and there is no place for bitchin'
