I think he is totally in the right.

You cant say he didnt buy a game cube, unless he got home and he didnt have a gamecube to play that he had just purchased.

I say good for you man.

Will he get fired? I doubt it, especially if they call his store and find out that there is more that you aren't telling us. I'd imagine he may get corrective action, but if the manager vouches for him, I don't think he will get fired.

wow this thread is amusing. Technically, he may be right. But common sense would say he is wrong because the deal was most likely intended for just the gc not the gc bundle. Either way, this is like crying over spilt milk.
As for the cc guy trying to pick a fight with him, that is absolutely not right and a harassment lawsuit may be prevail given the right conditions and lawyer :) Ahh fine times we live in. All this for a game that he probably wont play for more than a couple of days haha

For once I agree with Deeko (and many others) - that free game deal applies only to the Gamecube console, and not the Super Mario Sunshine bundle. Please take a look at any other retailer's website (BB, Gamestop, EB, ToysRUs, Amazon) and each makes a very fine distinction between the GC Sunshine Bundle and the regular GC console + choice of free game. You were wrong buddy. Even Nintendo's site makes a distinction between the regular Gamecube console and the Gamecube bundle. I don't care what the gdamn sign says.

However, people verbally threatening you is something to b1tch about. Just poor attitude and service on that particular employee's part.

i agree IMO this is similar to the idiot that tried to get a free car by using hundreds of $200 off coupons that did not say Limit one

the employee was a dickhead for the threats but if i was the manager i would not have let you have it

WHSL, FYI calling our cool line # is more to complain about corporate polices. To complain about a specific store...look on your reciept. On there you will find 3 important things for this situation. One being the sales persons name, store location #, and a bizrate.com code. go to cc.bizrate.com and enter that code. There you will be able to fill out a survey on the customer service level at that store. While your there, comment with the employees name the story told here. It is kind of over spilt milk here on the issue of whether or not the game should have been free without hassle, but this is for the employee and manager. As well as the bizrate survey, i would write a letter to the store manager/ district manager.

WHS I'm sorry but if you ever came to my theatre (I'm a manager at one) with a similar situation like yours I would have told you no, if you would have persisted I would have told you leave before I call the cops. The same if I was that manager helping you at Circut City. Granted I would have fired the employee on the spot but you simply took advantage of something that was a misunderstanding. I bet you're one of those people who threaten to a class action lawsuit or to sue when a retailer mistakenly prices a $1000 monitor at 10 cents. I hope you take comfort in the fact they gave it to you because they wanted to get rid of you, not because they gave in to your demands of the sign saying just a gamecube.

I still think we're missing a piece of this puzzle, I don't think the guy came right out and threatened him.

WHS did call him a jackass. For some people, that's enough.

It's clearly not how that deal was supposed to go and the fact that you annoyed the manager until he gave in speaks to your persistence but doesn't justify it IMO. But of course people taking advantage of deals that they are not supposed to be getting and screwing everybody else who follows the rules is a particular sticking point with me. Kinda like the people who drive on the shoulder on the freeway and if you honk at them will give you some sort of shocked look -- "why would you care? not like you were using this shoulder!" I'd say be happy with the deal you got. A call higher up the chain won't do anything other than call attention to your abuse of the promotion.

All that being said.. any employee who challenges a customer to a fight should be fired on the spot in front of said customer. NO EXCUSE for that.

The promotions are somewhat ambiguous. I bought my Gamecube last week at Best Buy when they had NBA Street along with 1 of the 4 games with the console for $150, and I found out they also Mario Bundle for $160. I thought about getting the Mario Bundle because after all the Nintendo promotion doesn't require you to buy the console only box to get the free game, just a Gamecube, which ostensibly could include the Mario Bundle as well. I decided against it because it seemed to me the Mario Bundle was a store promotion that excluded the Nintendo deal. Then again I don't know if the Nintendo promotion should 'override' the store promotion. I'm guessing BB/CC gets rebated by Nintendo for the free game for each console they sell, so I don't see how getting both Mario Bundle + extra game hurts BB/CC.

I think both sides were at fault here though. Unless the deal was clearly advertised in your favor, it doesn't give you an open-and-shut case that you're entitled to both games for $160.

^ Probably made no sense @ 5 a.m.

5.) I was persitant that the sign was misleading, and the 20yr old lips off to me again. I said "Listen, man you're a total Jackass". He walks up to me and goes, "Why dont' you wait, I GET OFF OF WORK AT 9:30". I was like "That's great customer service, challenging the customer to a fight."

Yeah, I agree it was immature for him to challenge you to a fight, but calling the guy a jackass wasn't exactly mature, either. If I was working at Circuit City for probably minimum wage or not much more, I wouldn't be too happy about having to take abuse from people like you either. I have a different idea about who the "jackass" was in this ordeal.

You were both in the wrong. I'd still complain to the CC main office about the punk employee though. Or go over with some friends and smash your gamecube on his head.

I would call headquarters, if only because of that idiot challenging you to a fight. I absolutely would refuse to let that drop until I got recognition.

Hey Deeko, so far you're the only person here with a big mouth. So, you don't really have to talk if you don't need to

Here's what the sign says basically. THERE WAS NO SMALL TYPE ON THE SIGN, and that's all that it says

You were already getting a free game. You weren't buying a Nintendo Gamecube, you were buying a Nintendo Gamecube package. Let me clear it up for you....YOU WERE WRONG. You got $50 off that you SHOULDN'T have, and you are still here crying about it. You go into a store, yelling at people for not giving you a deal you AREN'T supposed to get, AFTER CLOSING, and you have the nerve to whine? Could they have handled it better? Sure, but tell me, if some irrational customer was totally immovable on a subject, and it was 20 minutes after closing and you wanted to go home after a long day, would YOU keep YOUR cool?

"The Customer is always right"

NO.

The customer is NOT always right.

The customer is often wrong, and no matter how much they want everything to go their way, they are NOT always right.

Get that through your head.

As stated previously, "Ding ding ding!!!"

If it makes you feel any better, I am totally behind you on this one. Circuit City, Best Buy, and CompUSA have some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered. I've been yelled at, swore at, called names, etc. just trying to be a customer. I never raise my voice to them unless they do it first. 99% of the sales force are rude, uninformed about their store or the products they sell, and insulting. Once someone called me "dawg" as well, and I immediately asked to speak to his manager. I told them I don't appreciate being called things like that by someone who should be acting professionally. The manager made the guy apologize, and then I walked out without making the purchase I was about to (and it was a sizable one). Don't let those types of people bully you. Customer Service is reaching an all-time low at retail stores. I think everyone needs to start taking names and complaining to corporate constantly. At the least, you feel vindicated. At the best, things might actually change.

As I said, I think both of you were wrong.

Still, The manager should have taken control right then and there.

I normally don't shop at CC because I can get better prices elsewhere, and as someone else stated, the customer service sucks. I hate it when I go to ask questions about something, and the "technical expert" knows less about the item than I do. They lose the sale right there, especially if they just start spouting crap that I KNOW is untrue.

I guess the only way BestBuy, Circuit City, CompUSA and other retailers could do to satisfy people like Toxic and WHS is start hiring college graduates with degree in Business, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering so that every question about the products they are selling can be answered intelligently. Also, there will be no more dispute about the sales person know less than customer. Gheez, what a b!atch. There are always new products in the store and it takes time to learn about them. You wont know about it till you experience it, ie work at one of the retail chain.

So please, dont look down on those ppl, they are trying to earn some money to support their life(s). We all know you have a better life than average ppl so stop bitch!ng!!
