Will the next stimulus bill be passed by March 14? And, when will this end?

Everybody who screamed for Harris to overrule the parliamentarian looks kind of dumb since the votes for $15 are not there. Even King voted against it.

Basically looks like they should cut a deal for $10 by end of 2022 which would probably clear 60 votes and move on.

This is one I think should be left up to the states. Minimum wage is not a one size fits all proposition. California, as an example, just costs a buttload more to live in, compared to somewhere like Idaho. In California, the minimum wage is $14 per hour for any employer with more than 26 employees, effective January 1st 2021.

States have the freedom to set it above the federal level, which even at $10 represents and eroding purchasing power. Ideally it would float with at least CPI but even that probably doesn’t reflect an accurate basket for the people most likely to be getting minimum wage.

And when states fail to do their jobs and require more federal assistance it becomes a problem for all of us. It’s why traitors like you think it’s ok to storm the capital, because their state failed at doing it’s number one job of overlooking the general welfare of its citizens.

I'd rather companies pay their employees livable wages rather than me and you do it through our taxes.

Why do you disagree with this?

Like pay for all the shit the rioters did because the governors wouldn't do their jobs and enforce the laws that are supposed to keep people from destroying shit with impunity. If you think I supported people storming the capital, you can fuck right off. I was vocal about it not being alright and that they all needed to be punished for it. My position hasn't changed.

States that allowed the damage should not be entitled to federal fix it money.

"all the damage" lol I suppose you have a breakdown of how much damage they did, broken out by how much was actually done by antifas vs. Proud Boyz

Should we prohibit federal funds to go to states that didn't harden their infrastructure against extreme weather events?
What about states whose governors have completely failed at tending to public health during a pandemic? Should they be refused funding for covid testing and vaccination?

See how silly your logic is? You're basically saying "the federal government shouldn't do one of the things it was designed to do" - which is provide aid to states.

Personally I think states that rebuild where hurricanes continue to hit and then ask for aid when the next one hits, should just be on their own too /s

lol, tbh I have mixed feelings on UBI. I acknowledge that jobs are disappearing, and that COVID19 has acclerated this. Wait unti automation takes off. We haven't seen the worse yet. OTOH, I also acknowledge human behavior and how UBI would affect their lives. If you give people free money, good luck weaning them off. Imagine a 32 year old on UBI for a few years. Hasn't worked in years. Do you really think that he, or she will just get up and go get a job? I think most Americans on UBI would just watse their time on Netflix, video games, drinking, smoking weed, etc. That's human nature. To do the least possible.
Actually, the data indicates this is not the case. Perhaps it would be if the UBI were set high enough, but pretty much every study indicates a UBI doesn't make people stop working.

I took 2 weeks off of work, admittedly during the pandemic. I was glad to go back to work.

UBI wouldn't stop people from working, but it would allow them to possibly pursue more meaningful work. Instead of being stuck at a soul-crushing minimum wage job, you might be able to start that small business and not worry about everything going to shit. You might pursue the arts, which are notoriously difficult to make money from.
But hey, let's waste human capital to chase quarterly profit numbers.

Is it me or does his comparison seem rooted in an obsession with those riots? I believe most of the damage was insured no? How much federal aid was paid to states for riot repairs?

Historically our fairly generous bankruptcy code (compared to how bankruptcy was traditionally handled in countries like England) is credited with giving Americans more entrepreneurial freedom than most other countries. Give Americans more opportunity and lets see what we can do with it.

To be sure you are right, I just call my friends who live in the the Northwest District of Portland and they report no riot damage. Myth busted!

Sounds like the lies the lame stream media would force them to tell. Don’t believe it unless you’ve seen it with your own eyes. If that contradicts what fox, oann, and newsmax or your uncle on Facebook have told you then discount the evidence of your eyes and run with the info from those sources. Compuwiz1 is that broken.

Bullshit. Lets take Washington state, it has the second highest minimum wage in the nation ($13.69 an hour for everyone, regardless of the size of the company, which is only $.31 below California, and tip credit is illegal in Washington (IE paying servers $2.85 to $3.35 an hour) It sits right next to Idaho, which is a federal minimum wage state and has tip credit. Washington's minimum wage is 89% higher than Idaho's minimum wage, yet the cost of living in Washington is only 18% higher. Many of the day to day expenses are only pennies different between the states., with some being more expensive in Idaho than Washington. The majority of people in Idaho can't even afford or qualify to buy a house, much less survive. That's why many on the boarders work in Washington. And guess what.. California and Washington state's cost of living are pretty similar now days outside of taxes (CA has a state income tax, Washington does not, and CA has a higher sales tax) and housing.

Most of the red states that keep the federal minimum wage are also the same states who also rely on federal assistance the most (hmm.. maybe if you paid your people a living wage, they wouldn't have such need, as they would have more people spending in their local economy). They do it to keep their citizen's poor, because it's easier to control poor people than those who have extra money. It's not because businesses (large or small) can't succeed with higher minimum wages, it's not because the cost of living will sky rocket (it won't). It's purely to manipulate the citizens and control them by not allowing them to have a better quality of life, and to keep the rich high on the hill while the lower class, poor people suffer. And you are one of the sheep who believe their bullshit.

He's such a sheep that storming the capital of the united states is ok in his book. Years how far gone these traitors are.

I dunno......maybe your question is possibly answered by this study in Stockton, CA, that's just being reported.....

Californians on universal basic income paid off debt and got full-time jobs

California Program Giving $500 No-Strings-Attached Stipends Pays Off, Study Finds

So, maybe you can show the research that backs up the continuing bullshit claim that's repeated ad nauseam---the part that's bolded in your post---by conservatives as fact, exactly as you did above, and have yet to show their "proof," as if there is some other than y'all's "feels." Because your comment is feel based, not fact based.

And my bad for not completely reading the thread to check that a reply had been made to the ignorance...

Inflation doomers are re-emerging once again I see who are pointing at commodity prices.

Yeah no shit commodity prices are up since buying physical goods is about the only thing much of the county felt safe doing. Home prices are up because a lot of people aren't trying to sell their homes during a pandemic. The economy is poised to swing wildly back to experience oriented spending (travel, restaurants/bars, entertainment, etc) and these jokers think the stimulus should be cut back. Fuck that noise. It's not like the airlines need to go buy new planes which would be impacted by high aluminum prices....they are sitting parked in the desert.
