sorry, but graphics don't make the game. gameplay does. i'll take great gameplay over great graphics any day.
What gameplay, the Wiimote? If it's the revolution Nintendo thinks it is MS and Sony will promptly clone it. It's not exactly cutting edge technology. Leaving the only reasons to get a Wii a handful, at best, of worthwhile exclusive titles or if you're too poor to afford a 360 or PS3.

Hadn't thought of this. Very good point!

They may indeed clone it, but they will then be relying on add-ons instead of standard equipment. Add-ons are never fully supported by developers since that automatically limits their potential buyers.

MS actually has plans already to use motion sensing via their camera. Just don't expect the support to be as comprehensive as the wiimote.

i'm talking about the games, you idiot. has nothing to do with the wiimote or any hardware. as long as the games are fun to play, i don't really care what the graphics are like.

what is your fixation with graphics and the wiimote. you must be what, 8 years old?

that's what I tell my friends when they look at me funny when I tell em SF2 is the best game on xbox360 lol. sunday my friend came over and was like "why are you playing super nintendo games on your xbox360?" heh

A bit off track here... Are you looking forward to SotN on XBLA? I know I sure am. I can't wait to see what they do in terms of accomplishments

You know, I was never big on the castlevania games. But I think that was because I was never really exposed to them. However on the NDS, I played Dawn of Sorrow, and holy crap that game was amazing. It was just so much fun to play and I loved the whole level up type RPG elements to the game.

So if SOTN is similar to that (which my friend says it's similar gameplay wise) then yes I will definitely be enjoying that game.

Why are you all knocking the DS online play? I have two WiFi enabled games and find no issue with it. I pick it up, chosse online play and in seconds I'm playing people from all over the globe if I want. Who gives a crap who they are? I want opponents, not a chat room, not another forum. I just want to battle them in whatever game I so wish.

And who cares about friend codes? So they're not fluffy names you can cuddle, but it means you can have ANY gamer name you wish, without crying your eyes out because 'IR1337' has gone.

Talk about picking holes...

it's annoying because for each game there are unique friend codes. the friend code is not universal for each game.

and no one is knocking it, it's just not nearly as global as the xbox live one is. and if you think it's up to par with the xbox live service, then as i stated earlier, chances are you have never used xbox live.

Wow, so your entire argument for the Wii is that the games will be of a higher quality than 360 or PS3? Talk about a blind fanboy.

LOL.. whatever. Friend codes are lame. Sorry, I prefer a recognizable names I can use to play games with friends... and use the same name to play the same friends in any game. If you're like Blanco and don't care for the advantages Live offers, that's cool, but don't act like there aren't true advantages. Just read the entire thread and be informed.

EA are shutting down game servers on 2 year old games. YES, EVEN ON XBOX.

EA are asshats. What makes you think they won't do the same for their Wii games?

They will. EA is adamant about running the game servers for their games. They wouldn't even get on Live until MS gave into this demand. They'll do the exact same thing with the Wii.

Define what you mean by 'global'. You mentioned that twice and it's either just used completely out of context or I don't understand what you mean. I'm will to accept you are using it as a term to mean all encompassing, but you need to expand on that.

It all depends on what your priorities are. Do you want to play games? Yeah, I do, so the DS model suits that. I don't need voice chat on a handheld system. chat will just be full of trash talk kiddies as ever. Just give me a game!

On the Wii we have pi*square root of F-all idea what services will come with WiFi Connection, so this is ALL conjecture.

me? fanboy? look who's talking. i never said the Wii games will be better than any other system. i'm talking about games in general, whether its wii, ps2, ps3, xbox, or pc. my god, just when i think i can't meet someone more stupid on this forum, i find one...
you're the dumbass who only bases his games on graphics. you'd probably play "watch the paint dry" as long as it had realistic graphics, right?

it might be a good idea to shut the fvck up before you make yourself look more like an ass.

btw, i haven't owned a nintendo system since the SNES.

by global I mean it's a backend that every game for the system has to work on. it has to pass certain certifications to meet a certain quality. they know that the online play will support the friends associated with xbox live, they know that voice chat will be associated with xbox live, they know that the leaderboards and achievements will be associated with xbox live.

on the DS I too think the way it currently is setup is fine. they have probably 5 games that have online play, maybe more. However when 90% of the titles have online multiplayer, which includes team play and co-op, communication is a necessity if you want to get the job done. and if you don't think this is true, play on a team based game of halo 2 with people who aren't talking, and then play with a team that is talking. you will do much better on the 2nd team.

and that whole thing about EA has nothing to do with xbox live ...

EDIT: and the friend thing is key too. it builds the community. i got xbox live in september of 04, 2 months before halo 2 came out. i constantly play with the same group of people I played halo 2 with, but we play a whole slew of games.

What we know about Wii online service:

1) Uses the matchmaking and friend code features from the DS.
2) Voicechat is likely but will come with restrictions (some Nintendo VP said something about limiting voicechat in order to protect kids).
3) Virtual Console games are downloadable for a fee.

Beyond that, we haven't even seen official screenshots of their online component so we don't know exactly what all features it will have.
