you're the dumbass who only bases his games on graphics. you'd probably play "watch the paint dry" as long as it had realistic graphics, right?

it might be a good idea to shut the fvck up before you make yourself look more like an ass.

btw, i haven't owned a nintendo system since the SNES.
Ok so lets see here...the Wii has inferior hardware. And we're not talking Gamecube vs PS2. Significantly inferior. We've established there will be roughly equal amounts of quality software on every system. Why should anyone buy a Wii again, except as a third console?

btw, I own a Gamecube.

The original NES has far, far inferior hardware... and yet, to this day, the original Zelda is still fun, Crystalis is still fun, BattleToads is still fun, River City Ransom is still fun...
Weird, shouldn't all those games have started sucking because there was newer hardware available?

Uh, no. But if you had the exact same Zelda game on the NES and the Gamecube, which would you rather play? That's how it's going to be with Wii vs 360 and PS3, unless you want to argue that games on the Wii will be of higher quality than those on other consoles.

 What does this have to do with buying a Wii? I posted in this thread claiming the Wii to be a poor console choice. Hardware is inferior. Software is undetermined, but probably equal. You're the one that came to its defense. Remember? Or do you just buy any and every system that has a good game on it?

Oh, and it seems with your repeated insults that you have some real problems accepting people with other opinions. Might want to see the middle school counselor about that.

no, you said "If I wanted to play games with ****** graphics I'd just use my PS2. Not paying $250 just for the Wiimote. "

and i replied "sorry, but graphics don't make the game. gameplay does. i'll take great gameplay over great graphics any day. "

somehow you got that i said that because i like the wiimote and that i'm a nintendo fanboy. my reply had nothing to do with nintendo or any other game system.

my problem is accepting the idiots who ruin the game industry by only wanting "omgzors, hot graphix!!!" than anything else in a game.

dude if you are going by graphics only ... compare the PSP to DS and tell me which one has more sales.

And you have no real information in favor of the Wii other than the Wiimote. Thus making it extremely illogical to be excited about the Wii unless you place more value on the Wiimote than a large graphical difference.

Nintendo has a large following this time around and they have always impressed me with great game play on their own games. They're also doing something different unlike Sony and Microsoft which is a breath of fresh air in an era of "same game better graphics". You are part of the problem with gamers these days. All you want is new graphics which fuels companies to spend less time on game play/interfaces and more on all the pretty little shinys. Get off my lawn you punk.

Ok, so apparently the problem is you incorrectly assumed I value graphics over game quality. There is no disagreement then.

Okay, if there will be roughly equal amounts of quality software on every system, why should I spend $400 or $600 on another system? Just for better graphics? You're talking to someone who just bought a 6600GT (used) this year, and only because my Radeon 9800 died.
I'd rather gamble that the developers will take enough advantage of a different control method to be worthwhile, and keep the extra money in my pocket since I've got three kids to support.

no ...

better graphics = evolution.
new way to play games = revolution

get that through your head. also you didnt answer my question about the DS vs. PSP as far as sales go if graphics matter so much ...

those look pretty good to me. better than some of the screenshots i've seen for the ps3
i don't see where the extremely inferior graphics come into play? i'm sure the wii will have plenty of different games than the ps3 and xbox360 anyway.

Price is a perfectly legitimate reason to buy a Wii, one which I recognized earlier.

Wiimote = Revolution? Sounds like you're buying into the hype. It's just another way to tell the game what you want it to do. Most people who play racing games don't buy a steering wheel. I don't see the Wiimote as any different. If there is a real "revolutionary" use for it, it hasn't been seen in games so far.

I can't respond to DS vs PSP. I don't have any interest in portable gaming systems, so I don't know anything about them.

Find a post of mine where I said anything remotely close to that, and you'll have won this argument.

No, the entire system is... and less than that.
But after playing the Eyetoy stuff and Antigrav on PS2, I think there's a lot of potential for a motion sensing controller.

so how much is the wiimote supposed to be?

I said I'd play my PS2 instead. There are tons of great games on the PS2. That's purely a comment on the graphical quality of the Wii and says absolutely nothing about whether I value gameplay.

No. HL1 would require about twice the power of a Playstation 1 to render. Wii is about twice the power of a Gamecube. Thus, if this was the last generation, and Nintendo produced a console twice the power of the previous generation, it's graphical limit would be HL1. The HL2 shot shows the graphical limitation of an Xbox. Giving an idea of the difference between Wii and 360/PS3 in a couple years.

Wii for $170-$200?

August 15, 2006 - Nintendo's new Wii console could be yours later this year for less than expected. Tokyo-based Nikko Citigroup has issued a report on Nintendo's rising stock price, and between all the jargon is the financial institution's forecast that the Wii will carry a Japanese price point of 19,800 yen.

Current exchange rates would put an equivalent US price at $170.00. However, console prices rarely convert according to exchange rates. At most, we can probable take this report to indicate an anticipated US price of under $200.

Nikko Citigroup previously forecast a 25,000 yen price for the Wii. The firm arrived at the new, lower price point based on its expectation that Nintendo will be able to procure the Wii's CPU for less than expected.

This report is just another prediction by a financial institution and shouldn't be taken as confirmation of the Wii's price. For now, the official Nintendo word is that the system will be sold for under 25,000 yen in Japan and $250 in America. Final details are expected in September.

I don't think they've said how many they're packing with the console, and I haven't seen pricing on individual Wii controllers. It will definitely come with one, hopefully more. Four would be ideal, especially with the way they're trying to go after the casual gaming market.
