Why do some men cross their legs like women when they sit?

When I cross my legs, I do the 'manly' variants. That is, crossing at the ankles, or crossing one calf high on the other leg, perpendicular to it.

???

I know a lot of people who sit like that to play their guitar. I guess it helps them center the guitar to their body or something.

its considered "proper" ettiquite to cross your legs that way so as not to show the bottom of your shoes to the people in the room

My friend's dad does it. I always chuckle to see him do it since he's in the armed forces, and he looks, and acts "macho".

I can't do it. Must be something about the shape of my legs, because it's extremely uncomfortable. And I'm definitely the opposite of fat.

I've done it sometimes before, and usually because it's comfortable. Sometimes I will switch to crossing at the ankles, which is sometimes less comfortable. I don't think crossing legs is feminine, it's just more comfortable for women than for men, generally, but I'm one of those men that find it comfortable (I'm 22 in case you're wondering).

well, women don't have the twig & berries like men do so it's naturally comfortable for them.

It is extremely uncomfortable for me
