Uniforms is a bit much and most schools do have some sort of dress code in place. You also have to realize that there are a lot of families out there that can not afford to nicely dress their children.Originally posted by: Riprorin
I can't believe the way some kids dress to go to school.
Geez, all schools should have uniforms or at the very least, a dress code.
Uniforms are cheaper for parents, especially when kids demand the latest designer fashions.

I personally think uniforms are easier, there are alot of kids in my school that dont have enough money to stay in style so the uniform makes it easier. I do sometimes think the school spends too much time enforcing the policy.

Ripronin, you are just playing around with us right? You really aren't this moronic in real life are you? It's rather frightening to think that you are probably not an isolated case of someone with your ideas, although going to ATOT to affirm my faith in humanity is probably a bad idea.
Have you read some of Ripronin's other posts? BTW, you are inferring an awful lot from my postOriginally posted by: TheEvil1

WTF, you some kind of latent Interior Decorator or something? I think you are the first guy in High School to say that he "hates it when I'm walking around and some high school chick is walking around with her nipples showing!" Yah I totally agree! I mean come on, spend some money on the kids! I hate it when I'm walking around and some high school chick is walking around with her nipples showing. A bra and shirt isn't that much money!

Ok, I was going to have to say that before telling somebody else to get a clue, it gives a lot more validity to you if you appear to have on yourself.Originally posted by: TheEvil1

I pay school tax. That makes it my business.
*edit* I read most of the thread now...
This is ridiculous. Everyone is claiming there is alot of undue pressure on children to buy the expensive clothes? Thats a load of bull. Im a senior in highschool right now, so you can say that I just got done going thru all that "pressure". I have lived as a pretty poor kid, and a pretty well off kid. (My parents weren't doing to great when I was younger) and I can tell you that I never once had to REALLY worry about whether or not I had name brand clothes. I just wore what I liked. If I wanted to look like a slob, why is it any of your buisness to stop me? If you don't like what I look like close your eyes. After all didnt you all just admit that school should be focused on academics and not clothes? Well then it shouldn't matter if I come to school in my pajamas should it?

This is a point that is often overlooked. If there are disciplinary problems in a particular school and the parents get involved enough to pass a dress code, they will usually be more involved with other aspects of student life - homework, clubs, sports, etc.Originally posted by: Fausto1
For the record: the jury is still out as to whether uniforms offer any benefit to the students.
Listing of major studies (whose results are conflicting).
Conclusion
Many educators and researchers point out that, though there may be declines in school violence and improvements in academic performance, it is difficult to attribute such results to dress codes or uniform policies. Other reforms are often enacted at the same time that dress codes or uniform policies are implemented. ?Because no long-term empirical studies have been conducted to assess the effectiveness of school uniforms or specific dress codes, the results remain anecdotal and unproven? (Morris and Wells 2000).
Almost everyone, however, agrees that more studies are needed.
