Why Are Cigarette Smokers So Rude?

it's sad to see that addiction, when people who can't really afford the necessities of life are hooked so bad they pull food from their children's mouths and let bills go late/unpaid. My Dad went cold turkey back in the 60's when they finally came out and really said 'hey this crap is really bad for you'. Smoked 15 years, never looked back. Wish it was that easy for all those that really WANT to quit.

wtf? Have you ever seen anyone addicted to nicotine pawning their shit to feed the addiction, letting their kids starve, destroying their lives?

what kind of shoddily-produced after school specials did you fill your head with?

lulz.

The illegal drug trade hasn't done enough damage to our society. We should be illegalizing more substances and making criminals out of roughly a third of the population.

Banning smoking would make illegal marijuana trade and the resulting gang warfare and social problems look like a drop in the fucking bucket. Think about this for a second.

This.

A lot of people don't think, that is the problem.

IDK, While I'm a non-smoker, I actually enjoy the smell of fresh smoke. I blame it on the fact that I went into one smokers house where the smoker literally smoke about 20-packs a day, indoors, with all the windows closed. (it wasn't a big house either)

I came out of that house with a nicotine buzz.

its a metaphor. go back to school bud.

OK, so it's a personal thing. why you trying to cram personal choice down someone?

I understand someone outside of designated smoking zones...but it is rare these days to find an actual smoking zone at airports. I don't see them anymore, only non-smoking signs outside.

I'm not, I don't care if people smoke in smoking areas and I haven't said anything about trying to take away the rights of someone else to smoke. Where have I said anything about trying to cram non-smoking personal choice down anyone's throat? Please quote.

It's still ok for me to find it rude when they smoke in a location that blows smoke into a queue of waiting people when there's another smoking location available where the smoke won't blow over.

My comment is about rudeness, not about right to smoke.

QQ thread.

People whining because they occasionally catch smoke and even admit "...not a lot"....really, really exciting story. What happened next? You ended up in the ER because you caught a little smoke for half a second?

It hurts their feelings!! I remember this story from kindergarten about this little boy who kept getting his feelings hurt. I forgot the details.. but in the end he decided not to be a pussy.

Nicotine is a powerful and addictive drug. At least as powerful as heroin and cocaine. It sucks bad to quit, but it isn't impossible. You don't go through DT's and it isn't so bad that it'll kill you (the withdrawals).

The so-called quit methods really are just a ploy to keep you hooked. It's not tin-hat stuff either. Come on - use a little nicotine a different way to help you quit? Do you give an alcoholic that drinks beer a shot of whiskey or vice versa? Or shoot him up with ethyl alcohol in the vein?

Big Pharm is in bed with Big Tobacco. Its a damn conspiracy. How many people in this thread have been mentioned that quit and stayed that way cold turkey? How many have quit with Nicorette and stayed that way?

Smoking sucks. Period. Eat me smokers. You are all weak. I can't believe I used to be one of you. Keep being a sheep and sucking em down one after another. Keep killing yourself. You don't have long. I won't rest until the lie that is nicotine is dead.

Truth be told - Treat it like its cocaine. Just stop doing it. Unfortunately for the quit to stick you really gotta want to quit smoking. You can't make someone else, and you can't do it for any reason other than "I want to quit smoking". Any other reason is doomed to fail.

I've never been addicted to anything, I just like to drink :awe:

Last time I didn't drink lasted like a month and it was cause I didn't have moneys 🙁

Those who don't want to smoke: don't

Those who don't want to smoke and also want to cram their snobby hypocritical opinion down everyone else's throats and control everyone else's lives instead of minding your own goddamn business: fuck you, get bent, shut the hell up

Smokers are no where near the top of my "ass hole" list.
Cyclists and smug people who think they are better than other people because of their life choices pretty much take the cake.

Funny how you people don't seem to mind the far more damaging auto exhaust fumes syphoned into your lungs as you drive through the city, but a faint wisp of cigarette smoke gets you so riled up, as if it suddenly invaded the private sanctuary of your once un-sullied respiratory system...

give me a break. Do you people even stop to think about the bullshit grievances and backwards thinking that creeps into your minds?

I don't smoke, I don't care for smoking, but seriously, people in this thread need to man up.

This. I smoked for four/five years (about 15 years ago) - I tried patches during a placement year and that was ok for 9 months after I stopped using them. When I went back to college I moved back into a house that had smokers in it and I ended up smoking again. (Not the stuff that they were smoking though 🙂 ). After I finished college I started a new job and gave up. No patches just willpower.

Penn and Teller did a skit on Bullshit a while back on political correctness. The gist of the bit was how it's suddenly become everyone's right to be offended by everything. Their response? It's also a person's right to get the fuck out. Seriously. I might have caught a whiff of smoke on my way into a building? Really? Of all the smog and whatever else people inhale in a day, a half second of smoke is an issue?

I've been a non-smoker now for 2 months, so I've got experience on both sides here. I agree that smoking indoors is nice. I can get home from the bar and not smell like smoke. But outside? Get over yourselves. My university has a university wide smoking ban. You can't smoke anywhere on campus. You know how well that's worked?
