who here hates his/her job?

I definitely hate my job. IMHO the project coordination sux big time at my company, no one wants to do their parts of the work, I (and two of my colleagues) randomly get ridiculous assignmets that get cancelled, again randomly, a lot of effort goes to waste on a regular basis. Total lack of coordination and clear aims. With tremendous effort these constant mistakes can be corrected by the three of us of course, but it's always like extinguishing fire. As we always manage to avoid disaster, this problem in leadership never recognized by the GM. Okay, I always get maximum score when it comes to PM but it's still utter frustration. I couldn't even come up with a prog language I haven't used: c++, delphi, c#, vfp, vb, flash, java, jscript, perl, php, asp/net etc, numerous report scripters/ postscript code /other scripters/dunno scripters and whatnot. Jack of all trades, master of none. Constantly battling with my confusion when I time to time mistakenly use syntaxes at the wrong places. And all because WHILE I'M ACTUALL DOING ONE JOB colleagues come and ask me to do ridiculous little things like to answer phones cause they don't know what to say to the clients, write ****** little progs to solve stupid little tasks, then they ask me to write a SMALL LITTLE PROG that can gather info from the web (as my boss tells me all the time: it's two IFs), then they ask me to modify UNDOCUMENTED code with variables like: "a=2;yz=-6" written by guys who left the company like five years ago and the prog doesn't even have a SINGLE LINE of documentation, not one. I'm frustrated, yes I'm frustrated beyond repair: arghhh...

And on the top of all this: international communication between the departments sucks big time. Okay, it's my fault that I don't speak german (heck, I'm even having serious problems with english) but it's ridiculous when the german colleagues send mails that contain ARTIFICIAL translations (done by translation program) of their original messages written in german. Don't even mention the french dept. Then the UK, hehe, when we phone each other: that undecipherable UKish dialect on the other end of the line (ok, my fault, I'm not a master of langs, it's really a shortcoming on my side). But heck, I always watch US movies, so I can't help it. Tried to watch "LIFE ON MARS" and had to put it aside cause I didn't understand half of it. Strangely enough I didn't have the same problem with Voyager, X-Files etc. Anyway... At least the Israelis speak clearly. Ah, heck, once I had a discussion with a Dutch guy -------> MY GODNESS. Okay, I suck, I should study langs but I simply don't have the time anymore. They really should hire someone with perfect knowledge of english/german and maybe a little french and let him do the the whole communication part.

Sometimes, even now, I feel a tingling in my head, as if some cloud descended on me. I seriously think that I have some illness.

I'm the definition of F R U S T R A T I O N

I'm not too crazy about my job thats why I created a blog about my job, I just recently updated the site.

Well I was yelled at yesterday by my boss so was my team leader. 🙁

Why would you hate the opportunity to learn something new? I say you truly don't hate a job until you know everything there is to know about it, and you no longer can improve yourself.

the learning curve is steep and i am definitely learning a lot. but with that said, there are also a lot of small things about this industry that can drive you absolutely bonkers

YES BUT TOMORROW IS MY LAST DAY!!!!!!!
YAY!

(except I said I would come back parttime to train if they need me to.. blah)

My job has been great but I think there's always a few bad apples in your workplace hate you just for the sake of hating you. They are jealous that I get paid more for having an education and for being younger.

Glad I'm transferring out of the store soon.

it really makes me depressed

qft...

i wanna become a professional beach bum... open a surf shop or a dive shop on some beach in some 3rd world tropical country with cheap living and dive or give surf lessions to spoiled tourists all day..

then drink and party all night every night..

If I was single and without kids, that's precisely what I'd be doing, too.

I do that and make almost 6 figures. Very unrewarding, actually.

Been there. Done that. Not making 6 figures AT ALL, but yeah, it wasn't great.

What was it?

Marshall at a race track. That was a lot of sitting outside by yourself.

I love my job. Director of Field Operations for a AA baseball team (fancy for Head groundskeeper). Cant beat being outside all day and really being your own boss. Long hours when the teams in town but its still fun.

I love what they did there. 🙂

🙁... I don't hate it, but I don't neccessarily like what I am doing right now, but the department needs me, so I feel obligated to not leave yet, plus it gives me the opportunity to learn some newer stuff.

I definitely will be out of IT at least in another couple of years.

give me an easy job where i don't have to provide support for dumb people.
just assign me some work, leave me alone, and let me do it.

i honestly don't think i'll ever find a fulfilling job so as long as there's low stress, i'll be fine.

I hate my job and can barely stand it anymore. I don't even want to get started on why.

I am currently looking for a new one.

I hate my job when I have to talk to people. They always bring me ridiculous crap and I have to tell them why it isn't an IT issue. (Oh, you have 50 pages of hard copy data that you need organized into a spreadsheet? Yeah let me get right on that. I'm sure your boss will appreciate me billing a weeks worth of work at $55 an hour because you are too lazy to do it yourself, or too stupid to give it to a word processor) The actual work that I do, I like a lot. I get to find cool ways to solve problems, and I've got some absolute pro's working for me, so things rarely break (except when the client involves its monkeys in the process).

I hate mine with a passion and I am looking to move on. Working in accounting but the company sucks and we are getting sold

It's starting to grow on me. The hate, that is. 😀
But there are certain aspects of the job I like, like flexible hours 🙂

Sometimes it can be overwhelming and physically demanding and other times boring.

But, I like it.
