I've come to a conclusion, you can't fake stupid that easily just by losing a bet. You truly are stupid enough to believe that the building is safe just because it's in Dubai. Do the gene pool a favor, DON'T REPRODUCE.

I guess architects should just get out of the skyscraper business...because you said so.

Enjoy your fear-mongering and orange alerts champ.

That's why you build it in a Muslim country. Problem solved.

Not so simple really. Like the Saudis are under attack from extreme Muslim groups, Dubai will be too once their regime seems too close to the west or too detached from Islam. Don't forget that these are Iraqis who kill other Iraqis in Iraq...

You mind hopping back into your time machine and grabbing me the score for Super Bowl 50? Maybe some Lotto numbers too.

Why is the CN Tower practically never on these tallest-buildings lists?

It's in Canada. It doesn't count.

hehe

It's because it isn't a Building, it is a free standing structure(or something like that).

Apparently you didn't take heed to the wise words of our forum sage:

Anywhere, any time! Mushroom clouds in our backyards, dirty bombs in our drive-thrus! Even in the jar of extra creamy you have in your pantry!

Saddam and his team of scuba assassins were ready to swim the Atlantic and murder your entire family in your sleep had we not invaded.

ANYWHERE, ANY TIME! Keep your eyes peeled! Beware of tall buildings and taxi drivers!

Taipei 101 is better designed...

this building sucks, it has a wide base and thin narrow top, a 5 year old can design this.

You have to appreciate what they're doing architecturally.

Past "world's tallest" buildings have inched up from the previous record holders. The Burj Dubai will be anywhere between 800-1000 feet taller than the previous record holder.

I'm sure there'll be a good number of people who'll live, work and eat there and probably not leave the building for days.

It really seems like a lot of these super-skyscrapers are getting close to the old SimCity arcologies, with the exception of the potential for self-sustainability. I expect to see a real one within my lifetime.

lol, you're right. I always wondered why they took them out of the new SimCity games.

I think it's nice. Having a tapered building helps create the illusion of it being taller than it really is. When the building is already the tallest in the world, it will look amazing from the perspective at the bottom.

It won't collapse. Making a building 3000 feet isn't really all that much different from making one 1000 feet. It's just a matter of engineering strong enough. If you have the money you can make one a mile high without it collapsing.

O RLY?

Frank Lloyd Wright designed a mile high tower before his death.

It never came to fruition.
