Who else thinks that the super skyscraper that they are building in Dubai will collapse once it's finished?

The estimate of the building's final height now ranges from 3084 ft to 3316 ft with 216 floors! That's twice as tall as the Sears Tower!

I don't' even want to know how long it's going to take the elevator to get up to the top. Or what if they're all broken and you have to take the steps!

Parachutes should be included at all windows.

Going down won't be the problem.

I think its like taking a train to work thats far from your home and finding that the train broke down and you have no way to get back home. Crap happens except that you have to find ways of preventing it and if it does, find a way of fixing it quickly.

Burj Dubai

As of 3/6/07, it's at 390m, already taller than the Empire State Building. And the site says:

A 960m tall skyscraper is being planned for Seoul, South Korea. The tower is going to have 220 storeys if it gets built

just think of all those north korean artillery shells...

It won't collapse. Making a building 3000 feet isn't really all that much different from making one 1000 feet. It's just a matter of engineering strong enough. If you have the money you can make one a mile high without it collapsing.

O RLY?

They should put in water slides at select floors incase the elevators breaks down or there is an emergency. Would be the greatest water slide ever!!

You could build an extremely tall building if engineered adequately, however at 41 miles high no matter how well built the bottom floors would begin to liquify.

What distance is required to reach terminal velocity? Maybe they could let the elevators freefall for a minute to save on energy and time.
