i don't think of their shows as anime anymore, just an american cartoon manufactured in japan (what the new ninja scroll actually is btw, why is why it is junk -- imo)

just what are you talking about? the only series i watch that falls into that description would be eva. you are obviously missing the point, anime is just a style, like a movie; there are hunderds of different sub genre, and i dont watch any of that stuff you mentioned...

I think a lot of people what the crap they put on Cartoon Network and says it's crap.
Watch the really good ones without having scenes cut out in original dialogue with subtitles.

Plus a some of the anime is based on Japanese History and folklore.

But I must admit, the only Anime I have ever come closely to enjoying, are 3 or 4 of the Animatrix shorts. They were very high end, and detailed with superb artistic skill.

Other than that, IT ALL SUCKS

I don't like all anime, but some of it is amazing IMO.
I've seen a few episodes of Cowboy Beebop that looked amazing to me.

Especially if you put it side by side with an american cartoon like.. oh.. Ed, Edd, and Eddie or even somthing as sophisticated as The Simpsons.

Lemme guess, the anime you've seen is probably Sailor Moon, Speed Racer, The Big O, Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh and Dragon Ball Z. Those are probably the worst examples of anime ever, especially the dubbed versions.

Real Japanese anime is a helluva lot better. A lot of shows and movies are anime because the writer/director wanted to do things (special effects, etc) that would cost millions if done with live action. As such there's a lot of freakin' cool anime out there.

Don't get me wrong, there's also a lot of crap anime out there. Steps 1 and 2 don't make everything worth watching.

Agreed. I for one take joy in providing people with quality anime that isn't shown here in the state. It makes me feel good to give back to the community that has givin so much to me (not to mention tons and tons of techno mixes, thanks ReAn)

This Poll is total Crap.

Alot has to do with Cultural and ethnic differences. People of the western culture would not be as acceptible to this type of japanese culture. Most of the greatest animations are science fiction, no different than movies like The Matrix. Most of you would gladly pay watch real action science fiction movies, yet Anime is not so different other than the fact that some characters are drawn differently. Those googly eyes and fancy hair is also a stereotype, not all anime uses that drawing style.

To further break it down, The Matrix is actually very much influenced by the Japanese culture. The entire story, Animatrix, character designs and action/fighting are very much asian influenced if you haven't been able to tell already.

Hentai(Anime Porn) is created for the older Japanese population that grew up in this Japanese Anime culture. Don't confuse this with simple nudity in other Animes. It's totally a perverted side of Japanese Anime where the characters have sex, however I don't see it as weird compared to numerous types of nastier/odd porn out there; beastiality, sh!t porn, feet fetish.

If it's not your thing, don't watch it. But don't make stupid brainless comments like these.

Too many to list, but just off the top of my head : Lina Inverse, Tohno Akiha, Asakura Nemu and some girls from onegai twins (ichigo morino, miyafuji mina, onodera karen)
