Working from home and just had a power bump and for whatever reason one of my monitors turned off and on. It's on UPS and that shouldn't have happened. Thankfully it was one of the VGA monitors so at least those don't cause any weird issues when they turn off. HDMI and DP will cause all the windows to shuffle all over the place if they get turned off. No other issues seem to have happened but it's still a bit unnerving as this should had been 100% seamless.

Could also be it was EMI that caused the internal circuitry to mess up and not power loss though. That was a pretty hard power hit.

I hear sirens now, guessing a vehicle hit a hydro pole.

Yeah I'd love to. I want to do a 48v system for my server room at some point to upgrade the current 12v standby style system and I'd also run a circuit to the workstation.

Thinking about taking a car in to get worked on and will probably have to leave it overnight. Decided to look into rental cars. The cheapest Econo roller skate Enterprise shows is $90 day including the one discount I'm eligible for.

The used to be about $20/day. Expensive luxury cars were well under $100, but oddly enough, I can get one of those for the same $90-ish.

I can still get a u-Haul rental truck for $25/day though.

Most repair places will give you a ride back home and some will even arrange to pick you up as well. (usually dealers though)

Otherwise just take an Uber/cab and save your money.

Can’t find my backup keys for the safe. Luckily I know the combo. :)
The safe is being traded in. Getting new safe tomorrow.

Realized the key just locks the dial from spinning. And I had the new safe combo set to the old safe combo. Saves wasting brain cells memorizing a new one. :)

Looks like natural gas went up again, hearing lot of people saying their bill is in the upper $200-$400 range now. Mine is still at $163 though... but that may also have to do with the fact that I let my house drop to like 10 degrees when I'm not home or sleeping.

Tax bill went up too... an extra $200/year. All of this really adds up it's insane. We are getting screwed without lube in multiple directions with nothing to show for it. Justinflation.

Pulled out of the drive this morning. Remote for the gate opener worked one last time to open the gate, but would not work to close it. Left it open since I wouldn't be gone long.

Got home and tried it again to close, just in case it was a quirk. Nope ... dead.

Had a spare battery, but it took longer to find a screwdriver small enough to open it (something like #0 Phillips) than it did to change the battery. Dropped the very small screw too. But for some odd reason instead of it being lost and gone forever, it was right there on the floor in plain sight.

I just paid $2 for a coffee that tastes like hot water. I really need to stop getting Tim Horton's. Every now and then, their coffee is good, but it's so hit and miss now.

Have you tried Costa? I had it only once but the caffeine kick was off the charts.

Never heard of it but if I see it will have to try. Ended up dumping the Tim's and just making my own at home, I don't actually remember the brand since I put it in a mason jar. I often buy Kicking Horse brand when I see it though, it's pretty good.

I got a raise for the new year! With the concurrent increase in health insurance premiums for the new year, I'm taking home an additional $4.81.

My neighbour's house is for sale and one of my friends who can be a annoying and pushy is hinting at buying it. Omg I hope that does not happen.

He constantly wants to hang out and thinks I have zero life, and he's always using me because I have a truck. When I'm hanging out with my other friend he feels the need to show up too. He's just always in my hair.

Oh man I hope he's just joking and not seriously considering it lol. He has hinted at wanting to sell his current house though since it's a semi and kind of small for a family.

This feels like a bad comedy show.

Sounds about right lol. We actually got a 2% raise this union agreement which is high as we usually get under 1%. But when inflation is at like 9% (technically way higher than that) it's still a drop in the bucket.
