Got a 1099-Int from my credit union today.

$0.12

Not a typo. Twelve cents.

Why would they send that out? I know it cost them $10 in processing time, paper, envelope, postage, etc.

Just got notice that they are eliminating our "home drive" at work. They want us to use some kind of web interface now. That's going to be a pain. They just can't leave things alone when they work fine.

Pretty much lol.

I need to start keeping my stuff local and I'll just use that web thing as a backup. I'll just zip it up in one file and upload that. I'll wait and see though maybe the web thing won't be so bad. If it lets you drag and drop entire folders then it might be semi usable. The problem is lot of this stuff uses weird activeX and java things and we have so many programs that rely on that and often they can conflict. It's a mess.

Recently got upgraded to Windows 10, but we were on XP for the longest time, and lot of stuff still runs in VMs with IE6. It's not really a traditional VM, it's more like a cross between a VM and Citrix. Some kind of app virtualization thing that is fairly seamless.

Funny thing is every time they "upgrade" our machines they give us some crap machine with like 4GB of ram and a 500GB 5400rpm hard drive. We have to then request to get upgrades so that we can actually do our job. "But it's the corporate standard!". They usually give in after a while but it takes lot of back and forth with bosses.

A new first world problem, I accidentally cut a cat6 drop with the sawzall just now. There is one end that is encapsulated in spray foam so there is no slack to do a proper splice to fix it. It was a dumb move by me since I saw it and didn't put anything to guard it since I felt I could stop the saw fast enough, absolutely not lol. The saving grace is that it appears to feed 1 of the 4 jacks that is near where the wood stove will go. I really don't need 4 ethernet drops for a wood stove, so I'm just going to cancel that one out completely at the patch panel and call it a day. I originally did not plan to put a wood stove there otherwise I would have never even ran those. I just put them everywhere since it's harder to do after the drywall is up.

I will eventually be using one of them for automation stuff though but that will come later. The one that I cut is where the intake vent is going to be so probably leave it terminated there and I can use it to control the intake damper or something.

Finally tried to fix my Xbox 360. Started getting graphical glitches when playing last year and it shut down, with code E74 (GPU failure).

Besides putting on a new GPU, I thought I'd try reflowing it first.

unnamed.jpg

Everything went smoothly but when heating the GPU, the thermocouple slipped off so I think it was just getting mostly the air rather than PCB temp. I still went ahead with it, though.

Well, plugged it in, and now I instantly get the 3 RLOD. Error code 0203, which suggests a chip failure. I noticed the CPU gets insanely hot now, but I didn't touch that besides applying new thermal paste.

Maybe I'll revisit it at some point, but I think this means it's time to buy an Xbox Series X! (reverse first-world problem?)

Decided to actually start using my IG for a business idea. Months ago my passw0rd file was hax0r3d and last night I realized whoever did it started to follow 1,200+ random people on IG.

After looking into it, there's no way to mass wipe your following list. You have to manually remove people 1 by 1 and IG limits you to unfollowing 100 a day or something. Which would take me hours and hours and like 2 damn weeks to unfollow all these fuckers. I got smart and read up and found out you can delete an account and the username will be available again. But when I delete the account a message popped up saying they will delete it in 30 days. So I can't even make another for a month. It did say you if you logged back in within that timeframe the account would become undeleted. But then I"ll have to deal with removing over 1200 fuckers I'm following.

Daamit I wish IG wasn't free and a decent resource for people to use to promote their business.

Comcast decided that I need to pay $20 more for internet (400mbps). However, if I sign up to a two-year plan, I can get Gigabit Inet for $8 more than I used to pay for 400mbps. Oh, and they doubled the upload speed to a massive 20mbps . DOCIS 3.1 is supposed to have a 10:1 ratio of download to upload speeds - must be 'optional'.

If I upgrade, I'll need a new modem. I swear, they have people sitting around strategizing how to increase profits while keeping our anger levels just under the limit.

Used too small a heat shrink tube for a wire solder I am doing. I may just hot glue the solder joints to make it stronger and slide a bigger one heat shrink tube to cover both wires.

my sister ordered dinner to be delivered home.
she wants to order a small side salad ($2). i told her the description says iceberg lettuce, which is near useless healthwise.

there's a supermarket a couple of blocks from her house.
a 4oz 'spring mix' or even 6oz romaine mix salad in a bag (both $4 each) is a MUCH better bang for the buck, especially health wise.

plus you can have more salad the next day.
i even volunteered to get it (plus dressing) since delivery wont get here for 20+ min.

she orders the side salad anyway.
"it's only $2..."

Verizon's 'visible' cell phone plan.
unlimited data for $15/month if you prebuy year in advance + coupon code (easy google).

hotspot the phone for the whole house.

That’s because it’s her dinner, not yours.

Someone in this thread has the same problem recently.

Ordered 2 food grade buckets and 2 lids from Lowes, site claims they have 131 buckets in stock and 15 lids.

got an email saying they don't have any buckets in stock. 131... none, who's counting? Went to cancel the order for the lids since I don't need them. But as soon as I log in it tells me the lids are ready to be picked up. And silly me, I was worried about the lids being in stock with only 15 showing up.

Me. They still don't have the trays in, they still show hundreds in stock on their website. Holy fuck.

Damn that sucks, they claim to have ONE of another brand in stock. I almost want to trying ordering it just to see if it's actually in stock. 1 would be better than none. Yours was from Home Depot? Looks like both stores need to fix shit. And I can't even call because I'm sure all the worker will do is look it up and see the same shit I see "yep, we have 131..."

*EDIT*

LOL went to Lowes to get the lids, I checked the bucket section they didn't have any of the 3 5 gallon buckets the website said they did, sheese. The girls working had no explanation.

Home Depot website says they don't have them in store, and they probably do lol. Oddly, I was able to order 2 $5 buckets and the shipping was free. That seems like it wouldn't be worth it for them. All I'm waiting for now is an email saying sorry but they can't find any at the warehouse lol.

Ordered a new phone, I wanted it in red, but for whatever reason Apple doesn't offer the iPhone 14 Pro in red. They have a red Iphone 14 Plus but I don't have 'uge hands like our ex commander in chief. So a 6.7" phone would be near impossible for me to use. And the plus only has a lowly 58mp camera. Sadly who I bought it from doesn't sell the 1tb version so I had to settle for a near 3rd world level 512gb of storage. And I don't have Magsafe anything, I don't even know 100% what it is besides wireless charging, but I think I need it? I got the phone with Consumer Cellular, I know from the commercials they're the official cell phone of the AARP and really old people in general. I hope they don't send me some special Jitterbug edition iPhone with a nonchangable 500% scalled UI so the customer can see what's on the damn screen.

I'm also going to have to deal with the Android fanboys making fun of me for having an iPhone. I did look at the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Max Plus Championship Turbo edition or whatever it's called. But all they offer is the 128gb version. And it has no SD card slot, that's crazy for $1,200, and people say Apple's expensive.

But back to Trump, I Googled his hands so I could find the exact quote I remember him saying about them, and this story/quote came up for Trump talking about Rubio. Not what I was looking for, I hadn't even seen this. I got a good laugh.

"I have to say this, he hit my hands. Nobody has ever hit my hands. I’ve never heard of this one. Look at those hands. Are they small hands? And he referred to my hands if they’re small, something else must be small," he said. "I guarantee you there’s no problem. I guarantee you.”

I thought this had to be from the Onion, but then I remembered who the quote was from and realized it's probably not satire. GOD BLESS TRUMP his unintentional humor was really next level. I think getting that bent out of shape because somebody says you have small hands is a super #1stworldproblem.
