However...previous owners of this house had a pea graveled area in the back yard where they had a small fire pit. I want to build a patio deck there, so yesterday, I started digging out the pea gravel. Wasn't bad...until I found some small "tree" stumps. (3-4" diameter) Nothing terrible, I thought...just dig around them, yard them out with a come-along...
Put a couple of tons of pull on one...didn't even budge. Dug a bit deeper...these fucking things are all connected to a "root" that's the size of a small elephant. My only "chainsaw" is a cheapo Dewalt 20v that I bought to cut up driftwood logs. I don't think it's up to the task...so, when I'm in "the big city" later, I'm gonna have to pick up a few longer blades for my Sawz-all. I don't have to remove them completely, just enough so I can build over them. Part of it is where I need to sink a timber so I can level it up a bit before I build.
Ah well...life in the wilderness...it's all good.

Dynamite!

Hmmm....it IS the 4th of July holiday "weekend"

Y'know...I'm in an area that has lots of Indian reservations and fireworks stands that sell GOOD fireworks...I wonder if they could get me 1/4 or 1/2 stick...

I suppose I have a two-fer today.

First: I'm annoyed at the idiots who keep bringing shit to put in the fridge at work but never touching it thereafter. The goddamn thing is full and I have to go to the other side of the floor to use their fridge to keep my food. People will bring like large quantities of foods XYZ, which I get because they don't want to bring individual portions daily, but the shit will just sit there. Argh it's so frustrating.

Second: It's my turn for weekend on-call for work this weekend, but it also coincides with the 4th holiday so I'll have on-call on Thursday, then Friday evening through Sunday night. And our system hasn't been very stable lately (who knows why). Ugh I have a feeling it'll be a pain in the ass. I need to find a job I don't hate.

Life is WAY too short to work a job you hate.

Guy at the liquor store beat me out of $1 today. Bought some beer and gin, and it came to $53 and change. I gave him $60 and change, and he gave me $6 back. My brain was fried from the heat, and I didn't notice til I was almost at my truck. Didn't feel like going back in. I'll just chalk it up to a 'stupid tax'. If I'm too stupid to do simple math, I deserve losing $1.

The slew of jalapenos I added to my pizza have very little fire. Checked the brand so didn't but them again...."tamed" jalapenos...wut? Who, intentionally, buys tamed peppers?

I accidentally bought a "mild" jalapeno plant a few years ago nice flavor, zero heat. Ended up giving most of them away. If I'm eating hot, by damn, I want HOT...melt your face, set your hair on fire hot..

pussification of America...
1/4 sticks are for pussies :p

Meh...1/4 stick would do the job nicely. As much as I LOVE blowing shit up, this is my back yard...less than 50 feet from the house. I do NOT want to fuck up the house...besides, an6 left over could be used as DuPont spinners...

So...I've spent almost 3 hours this afternoon, cutting with my Sawz-All, pulling with my come-along...got most of the big piece out...still some roots as big as my wrist to get later. Hav3 a.couple of (hopefully) smaller ones to get still...I might post a couple of pics when I get done...or not.

Ok...not great pics...

This is the first one...kicked my elderly ass...but I got it...finally.

aws.sized.jpg

That shit is all connected by a "root" that's 4-6" diameter...made quite a pile once I got it out.

awt.sized.jpg

The timber behind the pile of crap is a "beach find." 6x12x10' long, creosoted and pressure treated. I have to pressure wash it to get all the remaining sea life (small shells and shit) off before I sink it in the ground, but it's perfect for what I need.

Hmm, meant to post this yesterday. Anyway, let the vent begin:

FedEx was supposed to deliver my new Dell U2719D yesterday (no double D avail ;-) . Said I wasn’t home, but I was. Called customer service and asked them to hold it at the local depot - they couldn’t because Dell requires an ASR  Okay, they would deliver it today, fine. Today at 2:15 pm I get a text saying it couldn’t be delivered because I wasn’t home at 2pm. I was in my chair on the first floor, 8ft from the doorbell. WTF !!!:mad::mad: Called customer service again. They driver would swing back around and drop it off - grr, okay. A different customer service rep calls me back verifies my address a says the driver would drop it off unless he couldn’t, wtf, so 'maybe' (and, apparently I’m a dumbass who’s lying about being home). They ask for authorization to leave the package at the door (rep says there is no ASR - wtf again!). I express my annoyance in no uncertain terms. Can I pick it up at the depot tonight - yes., okay FINE I’ll just pick it up later . 30 minutes later the driver is banging on the door (apparently, doorbells are for pussies). My package info was incorrect so he was going to the wrong address - shows me a half torn off sticker covering the address portion of the label - he didn’t know he was delivering the package to the wrong address and didn’t double check it because of the aforementioned sticker. I suppose Fedex is fine if you’re a business. I’m just sick of crap like this. UPS is better, at least where I live.

FedEx delivered a pc for my office....I never got it. Dell 2 day ships a new one. A week later FedEx finds the 1st one and delivered it. UPS has done similar...couldn't find my office. The same one they have been finding for 14 years.

Shit like, amirite?
