Well the 6600's and 6700's appear to be a big no show....

I ordered a retail e6700 on 7/27. ClubIT said it was in stock, but could not be shipped until the 7th due to Intel's rules. They maintained this story up until Friday the 4th. On Friday, I got a phone call from them saying that they only received OEM e6700s from Intel and that retail e6700s have been delayed. They won't be shipping me anything on Monday. So obviously, they never actually had the retail e6700 in stock despite what they said on the phone and on their website.

At the bottom of the page.

Edit: This isn't meant to evaluate ClubIT since I haven't dealt with them. I actually have heard good things about them and I believe they were fairly certain about the incoming shipment. ****** happens and they're now about to get hit by serious backlash, I guess. Whose fault? (Go figure :D)

Could people please quote the part of post to which they respond to, instead of quoting the whole message history? If you think the context is important you can at least cut some part to reduce the line so that the thread is better legible. Be considerate to others.

No, it's to prime the channel and get everyone at the starting gate at the same time. That helps minimize price gouging. It's a pro-consumer strategy.

I cancelled my $367 E6600 buy.com order and placed a $339 ClubIT order because of this strategy. Thanks Intel!!

So to all those fools and I would love to drag your names thru the mudd, but many of us were right...You were dreaming June and early 3Q, but we told you more like August and closer to late 3Q before in masses....

I am ofcourse pissed cause I have all my parts for my E6600, except the chip.....Since he has tried the tier one suppliers and they dont have them I doubt many retail stores will, or in masses....looks like I am waiting...i could have held off on the board, but alas it is too late....

Intel sucks IMO...paper launching idiots...

So, how is that "paper" 6600 doing for you a mere five days later?

I still dont have it and supplies of 6600's and 6700's are thin...While it may not be a paper launch persay, the "priming" on the supply lines was a lame effort...They primed it with 64-00's and 6300's but the test at launch were done with the higher speed grades...Why?? Cause They couldn't have claimed performance leadership with an E6400...

FedEx has my E6600 and as I recall the X6800 was available from the first day of the launch so it would seem that the highest speed chip was available even if the middle-of-the-road chips weren't.

quantites ppl!!! Intel claims all the fabbing might but they cannot deliver the product to the etailers...then they just deliver OEM chips on the 6600 & 6700's....

The X6800 availability was lame...You must be an ATI fan cause that is the type of launches ATI has...X1900 comes out and getting one takes an act of god for the first few weeks....LAME!!!

So this is 20% availibility from Intel. And three (maybe 4?) motherboard choices on top of this. Yuck.

According to AT, 20% of Intel CPU shipments were supposed to be C2D's. But I think that's by the end of the year.

I?ll spell it out for you: S A R C A S M
In the middle of a big nasty thread full of flaming you were trying to convince people to act reasonably and civilly, such naivety necessitated a little sarcasm.

If it sounded sarcastic, then it's your problem. Whenever I see such posts with quotes inside quotes inside quotes, I just skip to the bottome of the post. I'm sure many others do the same. I made this point several times in the past also, whether here or video forum and the reason is simple. Better legibility. You assumed I was being sarcastic but that's not true. And now with the wrong assumption you went on to attack me personally? I mean, even if that was sarcastic, woul it make me a jerk? Who gives you a right to call name on me?

I wouldn't comment on this issue any more since I don't want to thread-jack, but you should probably better watch your mouth.

Your point is not just valid it stood out as one of the few posts that was purely intended to be helpful as opposed to pissing people off and wining. Hence I was being sarcastic by writing an angry response...

For heaven's sake man, in my last post I said, "you were trying to convince people to act reasonably and civilly." I'm not trying to attack you.

It is by the end of the year...
10% by the end of this quarter, and that's not 10% of all shipments, that's 10% of the mid to high end desktops (20% by year's end).
The problem is not Intel, it's the wild expectations of many posters (as Duvie points out)...

I know that many people have said that Intel getting 65nm out the door at the beginning of the year showed that they have great manufacturing, but that was FAR less impressive than the speed of their C2D ramp!
Remember that
1. C2D is shipping 6 months EARLY
2. Only just over half of Intel's total CPU fab capacity is 65nm, and they are also producing Core Duo and the 9xx chips with that (not to mention Merom and Woodcrest).
3. Just because Intel has a load of cash doesn't mean they can
a.) shorten the time it takes to turn a wafer into chips (3 months)
b.) speed up the Fab equipment vendors (the companies that make the Fab equipment)
c.) speed up packaging, testing, and qualifying times much

As many explained months ago, don't expect good supplies until near the end of the quarter (at least)...and congrats to Intel for even doing THIS well (it's pretty bloody amazing!)!

Thats funny, cause I just came from MicroCenter, and they did not have a single Core 2 Duo in the store. AND their AMD prices were through the roof. They want over 700 dollars for an X2 4800. As I was looking through the glass of the processor display case, I turned and asked the salesman, "I guess you haven't heard of the AMD price cuts then?" He just looked at me stupidly.
